Diner Reviews
  • "Good food served in a casual environment with resonably priced menu. BYOB is also a plus."

  • "Been there several times and look forward to returning. Blacken tuna excellent, the crab salad not always available is a number 10! The wait staff is excellent. The owners normally is there and this makes a difference as in most good restaurants. The.bread sticks could be a meal.this is one to go out of the way for."

  • "Really liked it. Good, original Italian dishes. Plenty to choose from. The neon sign makes it look like a pizza place from the outside but it so much more, although we did have a brick oven pizza as an appetizer. Pasta dishes all around which we all enjoyed. No room for dessert. It was nice to walk right in on a crowded night with our "Open Table" reservations."

  • "A group of six on a rainy Saturday night at 7:15PM. A line waiting for tables. Mentioned my reservation through Open Table and walked right in to our waiting table! The food was all very good, the server knowledgeable and friendly. It was a tad loud for my old ears, but not too bad at all. Would definitely return to Provesi."

  • "A bunch of us stopped here for dinner before a show at the Mayo on a Saturday night. We made reservations and were promptly seating upon arrival. The restaurant was clean, warm, inviting, and cozy. We were seated near the window overlooking downtown Morristown, and it was a really nice view. Our waiter was exceptional, prompt, and polite. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating to all of our requests. If he was aware of a possible delay, he stopped to let us know. Everything we had was delicious (and perhaps some of the best tilapia I've ever had). For the quality and amount of food we received, the prices were fair (but perhaps a smidge on the high side), but overall, we're very much looking forward to coming back soon!"

  • "First visit. We went before a show at MAYO. The manager who greeted us was ready for us when we arrived. The restaurant was fairly crowded considering the early hour. It seemed a neighborhood spot for a good meal -- BYOB. The service was exceptional. Our waiter, Kyle, gave us timely attention, and he had a great sense of humor - he made us feel right at home. The mango salad was large, enough to split. The entrees were yummy; homemade lobster raviolis with scallops in vodka sauce (a special), the skirt steak special and the veal saltibocca. The rolls were homemade and yummy. Portions were reasonable - not too big, not too small. We were full, so we skipped dessert. The price was reasonable for sure; definitely worth going back!"

  • "Great food, great service and was an overall pleasant dining experience. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys quality, Italian cuisine. Love that it is BYOB. The only request would be to increase portion size, but the food was delicious."

  • "Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. I've been to Provesi a few times and each time, the food and service have been very good. I thoroughly enjoyed the skirt steak, offered as a special that evening. I was able to substitute more vegetables for the mashed potatoes, which I don't usually eat. Overall, a lovely evening."

  • "We had a reservation for 730 and wasn't seated til 815. Then received an appetizer missing some of the food that it was supposed to come with and wasn't told until after we finished that they had no more mussels left and the waiter didn't even offer to lower the price of the appetizer that didn't have all the food it was supposed to come with it."

  • "We had a big group for pre-show dinner. It's easy to book online unlike other restaurant. 1/2 block easy walk to the Mayo PAC, rain or snow. Manager was very attentive and granted us all different request. We had the entire basement to ourselves. BYOB is always a plus. Entrees are not expensive at all with good portion. I will bring my friends there for any reason."

  • "We went to Provesi because it was close to MPAC. We had never been there before. Both my husband and I had traditional dishes (Cannelloni and Chicken Parmigiana). We were both very pleased with the freshness of the ingredients and how they were prepared. It took a little longer to be served the dishes than we would have liked, but we were happy with everything else. Our server, Ryan, paid just the right amount of attentiveness. We will be returning to Provesi in the near future."

  • "This was my third visit. My meal was fine. My sister was not thrilled with her veal dish, although she raved about the side pasta. Service was slow. The staff was friendly but seemed a little harried. There was a show at Mayo that night so they may have felt rushed to get people served, but the staff will need to step up if patrons of Mayo want to dine there. Whereas I thought we gave ourselves plenty of time ( 6 pm reservation), I found myself checking my watch with some concern. Not that we wanted dessert, but there would not have been any time to if we did.. But I intend to go back."

  • "What we liked: Full dinner menu, daily specials, knowledgeable staff, convenient location to MPAC, delicious food, fresh ingredients, fair prices (given the location and serving size) What we didn't like: the pre-show crowd seemed to take the staff by surprise, so our waitstaff wasn't very attentive (didn't ask us how things were until the main course was barely served, we had to flag him down for the check, and we never got refills of our drinks, including water) Other info: BYOB and typical Morristown parking (not always easy to get a spot close by)"

  • "Food was fair. The Mozzarella in my baby arugula and mango salad was awful, I have had better from the supermarket. The veal provesi was okay, served with mashed potatoes and tasteless veggies. Hubby has shrimp parm, too fried tasting. Probably won't be back."

  • "It is located a short walk from the MAYO Performing Center which is a great benefit if you are going to see a concert/show that night. Nothing spectacular about the food, the prices are within the average to low range for the Morristown area. It does get crowded so you definitely need to make a reservation."

  • "This was our first visit to Provesi. It was a Saturday night and it was very busy. They have downstairs dining and that is where they must serve larger parties because there were quite a few people coming and going. We unfortunately had a table near the stairs that led to the downstairs dining so it was a busy spot. Our server was excellent, very attentive. The food was good. My husband and I both started with a salad. I would recommend having cheese as an option on each salad, the tricolor salad was bland without it. We both had fish dishes. Both were good meals. We would go back again but may choose something else first before going back."

  • "Provesi was a great choice for traditional Italian food in a comfortable setting, with attentive service, one block from the Mayo Theater, for a pre-theater meal."

  • "Had a reservation, arrived on time. Unbeknownst to me the other two in my rez had arrived and were seated in the back...I stood there for ten minutes before anyone acknowledged me... the setting is nice, tables are very close together, loud but not terrible. The food was tasty. No a la carte veggies avail. I got 3 Julianne carrots n 3 string beans and 3 tiny slices of potato with my entree. . ."

  • "We dined here last Saturday, after yet another NJ snowstorm, prior to a show at Mayo Center. Morristown was very quiet for a Saturday evening and the restaurant was half empty at 6pm. That perhaps helped when it came to very good service and an excellent meal. It's BYOW which helps from a cost and selection standpoint. I had the grilled polenta and veal saltimboca, both very good. My wife had the calamari app and a chicken/shrimp special. She enjoyed the entree more than the appetizer. We will definitely go back."

  • "We wound up at Provesi on Valentines day for dinner. Upon entering I was pleasently surprised. The place was busy, the room was nice and the host and waiter were welcoming and attentive. From there things went limp. The calamari appetizer was obviously frozen from a bag, it was rubbery, tough and flavorless, all rings no tenticles. The cesar salad, also limp. We had one of the veal dishes which was passable but the shrimp scampi was the worst plate of food anyone has ever placed in front of me. Soggy flavorless spagetti and bland shrimp on an anemic white plate, not one touch of color. Don't waste your time or money going to this restaurant. I have honestly and truly had better hospital food."

  • "This restaurant is close to the Mayo Center which in itself makes it worthwhile. It is a BYOB establishment. I didn't particularly like the dressing on the arugula and tomato salad. The bruschetta was quite tasty but they were small. The tartufo had more chocolate in it than vanilla. Everything is ala carte which can add up the cost. They due offer pizza which would be a less expensive meal. Coffee runs three dollars. Overall we would go back there again when we are going to see a show at the Mayo Center."

  • "Second time we've been here in 2 months and can't wait to go back. Reasonable prices, BYOB, large menu."

  • "This was our first time at Provesi and I called early for a 6:00 PM reservation. We arrived shortly before time and had to choose from 3 available tables, two near drafty doors and one next to the kitchen door. We picked the one by the kitchen door and therefore we bombarded with noise from the very busy kitchen which diminished our overall experience. We will do it again, but make sure we don't take that table again. Otherwise, the food and service were very good and we look forward to doing it again."

  • "THis was our second time to Provesi. Each time we were going to a show at the Morristown PAC. The restaurant has a lovely menu and the food was delicious. We would go back on a regular basis if we didn't live so far away."

  • "We decided to give Provesi a try prior to a show at the Mayo Theater, which is just one block away from this restaurant. The food was disappointing...over-sauced and over-cooked. I had the chicken scarpariello...you could not distinguish the chicken from the sausage. The menu is a bit pricey, considering this is a BYOB restaurant. The service was fast, but overly-present (the waiter and manager came over to the table NINE (9) times to ask how everything was...I appreciate their interest, but it was distracting)."

  • "Great food and service as always. Calamari is fantastic. Salmon out of this world. Tiramisu was wonderful. Great place to go before a show at Mayo PAC. Get your food to you, but don't rush you."

  • "Dinner for 8 people for my daughter's birthday. Mo, the manager/owner met us at the door with a warm welcome and checked on us frequently. Our waiter, Ryan, did a great job. The food was fantastic! There was another large party (more than 20 people) next to us in a room downstairs. They were super load and obnoxious but we didn't let them ruin our night. I was very pleased with this restaurant, and the service. I would highly recommend it. We will be back!"

  • "Restaurant did a great job on an exceptionally busy might - New Year's Eve. They had a special menu for the evening which had a good balance among pasta, veal, fish and chicken entrees. Prices were somewhat higher than normal but this is common practice for holiday events. Still a good value, though. Service was exceptional considering the crowd and all of the commotion. We especially like that you can bring your own favorite wine. We love Provesi and with the large nearby parking garage finding a space to park is no longer a concern. Can't wait to have a reason to go back and try something else!"

  • "I recently went to Provesi with some friends. The food was good and it's nice because it's a BYOB. They don't have a parking lot anymore so you need to find parking on the street. Overall it was a nice night out."

  • "I had eaten here a few years ago and the place didn't make much of an impression. The other night was a great experience. The waiter and staff were excellent and the food was great!"

  • "First visit but will not be the last; the food was outstanding and full of flavour from a huge selection. It was real Italian flavours. The service was attentive without being invasive, the quality was excellent, the host was helpful and very supportive and the ambience was first class and allowed real conversation without straining the ears. What more could we want, and it was virtually next door to the Mayo Arts Theatre. Will recommend and will visit again. Thanks guys."
