I enjoyed a salad and the mussels appetizer along with pumpkin creme brulee which was wonderful. For most adults the mussels would not be an entree size- about a dozen. My friend had the braised short ribs and said it was excellent and a nice portion. We dined in an hour as we told our server we had an 8:00 recital and she accommodated us nicely! I'd probably not order that again. My companion's linguini with lump crab was a better choice. And it was real lump crab, something you don't always see here in NE Ohio.The view outside was a nice oasis in the city, and will be improved as the landscaping matures, I'm sure. Our 5:45 reservation got us out with time to spare for the 7:30 VIVA/Gala performance. The bar was packed and lively- not sure if this happens regularly or because there were multiple evening events at CMA that night, but it was good to see Provenance seemed to be doing well. Provenance was very good but didn't live up to the hype. (Plus I had to wait a month to snag a table for a Friday night.) Nothing about the restaurant suggests you are dining in a museum. (The only art is a dull panoramic photo of the building.) I selected the prix fixe because I wanted the cod. But a salad was not among the first- course choices, so I tried the soup--unmemorable, as was the blackberry pie (which was out of season). The service gets five stars, however. The orange juice and the smoothie were great. A buffet table had a nice assortment of fresh fruit, mouthwatering muffins and scones. Loved the salad dressing for the salad. It gives a very sophisticated yet welcoming feel to the place. The food was fabulous, we had the pris fixe men, and the service lovely. The view was exceptional ; from our table, on one side you could see across the new atrium, a handsome open space and on the other side, you saw greenery outdoors!

The trout dish was fresh and flavorful. The lump crab spaghetti with the meyer lemon, scallions and cream sauce was rich, satisfying and so full of crab it was luxurious.
The concert we saw was good and interesting, and the Viva&Gala series is worth a season subscription.
