"We had Easter brunch at Prospect. The food was tasty, although it looked better than it tasted. The service was pretty lackluster, particularly given that it wasn't busy nor were they understaffed. I'd go back if I needed a reservation for brunch and wanted to be in SOMA for the day or perhaps with out-of-town guests who want a nice, upscale-feeling, easy experience (e.g., in stark contrast to something like Red Door Café)."

"A good option for Saturday night in terms of scene and ambience. Service was attentive, but I didn't feel the food lived up to my expectations. Our party of four had the ahi tartare, beet salad and green goddess salad to start... Good, but not super memorable. For entrees the one I felt disappointed the most was the steak - kind of dry, not that flavorful, and not on par with the other mains we had (scallops, halibut, and probably the best was the pork chop). Kudos to the ice cream sundae - peanut brittle, gooey hot fudge over vanilla ice cream... What a travesty to have to share! $350 later, would I go back? Probably not as there are so many great places in SF I'd rather drop that amount at."

"when i eat out, i especially appreciate good service. prospect was excellent. from the matre d' to the server, they were friendly, helpful and unpretentious unlike Boulevard. i also appreciated that it wasn't as noisy as other new restaurants where there is nothing to absorb sound. layout and decor was just right. the only thing i personally would comment on,is the lighting -- overhead light was not very flattering for the diners. food was very good. i'm not a big eater but the portion size was still too small."

"We brought an out-of-town friend here for dinner to give him a taste of California cuisine...Prospect did not disappoint. Our service was superb, only outmatched by the quality of the food, which was cooked to perfection. After dining at Cyrus in Healdsburg the night before, my palate was ready for a bit of a letdown, but my meal at Prospect was delicious, with great flavor, texture, and presentation. I would definitely dine at Prospect again."

"The food at brunch was spectacularly good: everything was light, well made, well seasoned and presented. The service was inconsistent--mostly highly attentive, but sometimes there were long lulls. And it's a bit pricey, but you know that going in. We have enjoyed all the meals we've had at Prospect and will certainly return."

"The food was good but not memorable, the menu is not very daring. Service was uneven - our wine came late even though we ordered it with our appetizer. My espresso didn't come until we had nearly finished dessert. Our server never checked on us and I had to refill our wine glasses. Overall the experience was just so-so and it should have been better epsecially since they consider service to be their strong point."
