A word from Prosecco
Prosecco, in the heart of the River North Gallery District, is a chic, yet welcoming restaurant serving comfort foods from all 20 regions of Italy and Chicago's largest selection of sparkling wine. The decor, inspired by the faded, gilded beauty of Venice, is filled with silk damask drapes, carved wood chandeliers and gold-framed artwork. The coup de grace is the 35' long bar, hand burnished to resemble a piece of antique Venetian furniture. The bar serves Italian finger food and offers a wide selection of European spirits. Enjoy classic comfort foods -- from house-made pasta to nightly beef, fish and game menu additions. Dine with the Chef at the Carpaccio bar, where a selection of fresh cured and smoked meats and the freshest fish, are sliced nightly.   • "We went here for our four year anniversary. I commented in my reservation and they gave us one of the best tables. Our server was great, he and the manager congratulated us when we first arrived. They have an excellent wine list, the gnocchi Gorgonzola was one of the best I've had. It had toasted walnuts which I doubted but I took the risk and it was worth it. We also got the cavatelli con gamberi. It was on the lighter side but the shrimp were great."

  • "If you are interested in Italian regional cooking, this is the place. The menu is quite small which is the first clue to exceptional food... just like in Italy. Every single thing we ordered was amazing, and the staff was very accommodating in allowing my wife and I to share dishes. The Chef is to be complimented on the authenticity of every single thing we ate.The presentation of the food was without pretense and served in a timely and well executed manner. The service was without a doubt the best we have ever encounter. We were made to feel at home in this very elegant setting even though we were dressed quite casually. I have no reservations in giving Prosecco my very highest accolades, a restaurant of the very highest quality."

We enjoyed the mussels in a delicious cream sauce and the butternut squash soup was tasty. I ordered the ribeye which was delicious, tender, and juicy. For dessert I would highly recommend their mango sorbet. My only complaint is that while the ambiance is nice and romantic (candle lit, cozy, etc.), Prosecco is very loud. So it is ideal for large groups but less ideal for an intimate conversation between you and your significant other."

We shared a Burrata antipasti, gnocchi gorgonzola, scallops with spinach & vanilla, double cut pork chop with mashed potatoes and flourless chocolate cake and tiramisu. Everything was served beautifully and was delicious. Ambiance is charming and reminds one of a restaurant reminiscent of those in Venice. Experience was fantastic sans service. Sad to say, if you're not drinking while dining at Prosecco, you're not warmly welcome at the restaurant and they want you to leave pronto. That's exactly how our server made us feel. We had 6 items, $116, 2 diners. I tipped 22%, but doubt that was enough for what was an obnoxiously greedy waiter."

  • "It was romantic because they sat us upstairs. It was quiet, dimly lit with candelabras burning real wax candles around the room. Normally they do not open the upstairs dining room but since it was Valentine's weekend they did. Generally only celebrities and sport figures go upstairs for privacy. The main floor was very busy and so much louder, tables seemed close together. Food and service were very good. Management went out of their way to try and accommodate us. Overall a good experience, only disappointment was the Diavolo was NOT spicy at all!! Not even close, tasted like marinara sauce."

Having experienced top restaurants and wines in Italy, I enjoyed the casual elegance and unpretentious atmosphere with good wine list and excellent main course choices (pasta was excellent) in an up and coming neighborhood star - worth the visit to a relaxing, unpretentious, neighborhood gem."

  • "We had a nice evening as always at Prosecco. A group of 4 with great service. 3 of the 4 dishes were delightful. The 4th was a pasta with Salmon that lacked flavor. The Salmon had lemon on it but you could barely taste the lemon-which the server highlighted. The ambiance can't be beat! Very romantic, easy to talk and catch up with friends and starting with a little champagne is always a nice touch. We like Prosecco!"

The risotto felt a bit overcooked, though the beef was delicious, melting in the mouth. The lemon sorbetto had something in it that made it less refreshing than it should have been for a lemon sorbetto. Overall - great, not to be missed."
