  • "I went with a diverse group including older parents, drinkers and non drinkers. The atmosphere is vibrant and wouldn't recommended for a quiet first date, if you want to talk,but it is fun. Overall service and food good with small exceptions. Food came out at different times. My burger bun was completely black in the middle - burnt to a crisp on both sides. I didn't pay attention until I bit into it and the waitress was gone, so I did not return it. We did mention to the waitress when she came to clear (and showed the burnt bun, as it was left uneaten) and she shrugged and walked away. We weren't asking for anything to be done, just to have it acknowledged and to have server/kitchen pay attention the next time....."

  • "Our reservation was honored and we were promptly seated. The server was attentive and knew the menu. The food was delicious but it all comes out at once. Would be nice to stagger a bit.   • "There was a little confusion at first on who had our table but once we got a server, she was very attentive. The drink I had was wonderful! Moscow Mule, had two. The crispy goat salad was delicious. The collards were some of the best I've ever had. I ordered one lamb chop and I have to say although it was tasty the amount of meat on it was sad. I've had way more meat on a baby back rib. My husband seemed to gobble up the Duck Quesadilla but when I asked him how he liked it he said that he really couldn't tell that there was duck in it. I would still recommend you try this place. The food came out crazy fast and the drinks are out of this world."

  • "Great little gastro pub, very creative bar drinks (loved the jalepeno margarita!) and fun choices for food...the red fingerling fries with bernaise are amazing as was the rabbit nacho plate. Our servers were very attentive and great with suggestions. The music started at about 8:30 and it turned into much more of a bar crowd...but that was OK, everyone was having a good time!"

  • "I was dying to visit this restaurant as soon as I read about it in a guide book. I am a huge fan of the Jazz Age and anything to do with that era, and I was thrilled to find a restaurant that catered to that passion. I'm really into food and enjoy cooking so when I go out to eat (even on vacation, when all we do is go out to eat) I try to find a restaurant that will give me something I cannot get at home, be this in the form of food, entertainment, or ambiance. Prohibition had all three. And the bartender made up a mixed drink just for me, which was so much fun!There was live jazz music and our waitress was fabulous. She helped make the evening the fantastic and memorable experience it was. Highly recommend this to everyone!"

  • "We really loved this place. The ambiance was great, the food was great, and the service was FANTASTIC! Our favorites were the infusions - especially the jalapeño tequila (if you like spicy). We want to go back again to try more of the food... but if you're a dessert lover you gotta try the blueberry toast thing!!! It's beyond delicious!"

  • "Took the family there early on a Wednesday night. It was not yet crowded. We had the Duck Hash, Duck Quesadillas, salads and sliders. All of the dishes were terrific. Loved the duck hash...but it could have had a touch more duck. Drink list is inventive and comprehensive. There is an extensive beer list but the mixed drink creativity is a stunner. Would go back again and again."

  • "The ambiance is very comfortable and unique keeping with the theme of Prohibition. Our drinks were served in mason jars and the meals were served in small cast iron skillets. We agreed the Shrimp & Grits were delicious, but a bit on the spicy side. We thought the Sausage and Mushroom Mac & Cheese was fantastic and would definitely recommend everyone try this dish. Unfortunately, there was only one waiter, who was busy and our entrees came out at different times. We would have preferred to have our entrees served at the same time so one didn't have to watch the other eat. Big no-no in the foodie world."

  • "We were in Charleston for a girls night this past weekend. Some of us had lived in Charleston for a while before but wanted to come back and go somewhere new. We had heard great things about Prohibition so figured we would give it a try. They did a great job renovating from what it used to be. Great environment. Food was overall pretty good and decent prices! Food came out really quickly. I would definitely recommend this place. "

  • "The setting is a prohibition era speakeasy. The menu is eclectic. The attention to detail in preparation and presentation sets Prohibition ahead of many of the upscale neighboring establishments. Our table had the smoked wings and the queso appetizers...sound like a sports bar?-- hardly. Both were a great start and prepared us for next courses. Our table had the duck confit hash and the marinated pork chop. As mentioned preparation and presentation matched the description by our handsome server Joe. Neither should be missed-- the entrees nor Joe. The jazz band added to the ambiance. A visit to the table by James, one of the Irish owners , and a round of shots was the cherry on top. Not our first visit and we will be back."

We decided to try Prohibition on a Saturday night enticed by the prospect of a live jazz band with dinner. We were astounded by the quality of the dining experience. From the drinks and appetizers to the temptuous entrees, we were thoroughly impressed! Even the "I guess we will try" dessert was scrumptious. We will DEFINITELY return!"

  • "We stopped in at prohibition Saturday night and it was bustling! Seriously, the bar area was packed, there was a cool jazzy band on the stage, and every table was booked. This is why I love open table- you can no longer walk in at a restaurant in charleston without a Rez. Bottom line is the specialty cocktails were great, and the food was really really great. Pleasant surprise. Very loud inside but it's fun and energetic. I will definitely come back regularly. "

  • "The ONLY good thing on our table was the french toast, Literally we ALL had one slice because our own dishes were so awful. MAYBE if the food had been fresh and hot, would it have been halfway decent but I'll never find out cause we wont be going back ! BTW- It was NOT crowded or busy so there was NO excuse however, it WAS Mothers Day! So thanks a lot Prohibition."

  • "I dined here with 5 of my friends during a recent girls trip to Charleston. We chose the restaurant based on online reviews alone and thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed! After a weekend of fine dining, the more casual, upbeat atmosphere was just what we needed. I loved the decor, music and energy. And the food! It was exceptional. We ordered what felt like the entire menu so we could try everything and we were so glad we did. Some standouts were the wings, tacos, and lettuce wraps - but really everything was wonderful. The service was great as well. Very knowledgeable and friendly waitstaff and food came out quickly. I will definitely be back!"

  • "what a great brunch we had today. Went for Mother's Day and was amazed with food. Have wanted to try for some time but just havent gotten a chance to. The Duck Hash was amazing one of the best dishes i have had in a long time. Wife ordered BLT and was impressed, daughter got the french toast and my son had the burger everyone loved the dishes they ordered. Food arrived quickly and service was good. Will be back for sure. "

  • "This was one of the places on our "list" of must-try.. We booked a table for brunch and it was delicious! The BLT with the goat cheese was a fav, they burger on brioche was perfection and the creme brûlée french toast with homemade blueberry ice cream made other diners jealous. The cocktails are FAB! House made infusions made for fun and innovative beverages."

Food was good but not stellar enough to warrant the price. (You get spoiled living in Charleston.) Would still go back and give it another shot."

The service at Prohibition is great we had the pleasure to be sat in Amanda's section and she took great care of us and was able to help one of the diners with food allergies navigate the menu.   • " Three of us had an excellent meal. One ordered the meatball sliders, the meat, unknown to us was chef's choice, turned out to be lamb. She does not like lamb. Took one bite and told server it didn't taste right. He explained it was lamb. She asked for it to be removed, it wasn't. She ordered the mussels, which were delicious!! They refused to take the uneaten sliders off of our bill. :( So if you order the meatball sliders make sure you ask what meat is being used! Music was great. Our cocktails were delicious."

  • "Not a place that is billed as a prohibition style spot. Looks just like any bar with a few mini pictures from the 20s. No white Zinfandel wine. No sparking water available. Limited menu with lots of carb items. Our waitress was not very attentive. Didn't get food items that I asked for. Aparagus skimpy but flavorful. Burger almost burnt. Asked to hold bun. Got the bun. Had to go to the bartender to pay our bill as waitress was too busy talking to a group of guys. Overall very disappointing experience. "
