Sundays and Thursdays come for $1 oyster night at the bar or join us for our small plates menu at our new Antipasti Counter. WE HAVE 40-50 SEATS AVAILABLE FOR GUESTS DROPPING IN WITHOUT RESERVATIONS.....THERE IS ALWAYS A PLACE !!!

  • "This restaurant should be more concerned with the customer experience. We were finally seated at 8:30pm for an 8pm reservation for which we arrived 20 minutes early. We weren't offered drinks or an apology. The menu is limited and the restaurant is very loud. We had much better meals and service at other restaurants during our stay in Maine, which is unfortunate since Primo came highly recommended. We will not go back."

  • "We visited Primo for our 30th anniversary. The farm to table concept provided exceedingly fresh and interesting fare. The selections were not your average dishes. Staff were incredibly knowledgeable, responsive and professional. Cocktails were delicious and incorporated local herbs. Beer and wine selections were well chosen and the staff's recommedations demonstrated great familiarity with them and how to pair them. Our food was overall outstanding. The sirloin we chose was not cooked to order, but was close and still delicious. The waiter immediately offered to take it back, though we declined for overall timing of the meal. Dessert was comped, however and an additional (heavenly) dessert added so the staff did well in making things right."

  • "We heard about Primo on Tony Bourdains show on Maine, and made a point to visit this trip! It is amazing - each dish was an adventure with layers of flavors adding so much depth. Highlights for us include the porcini-crusted striploin (best steak of my life to date) and the duck entree. Appetizers and dessert were amazing as well - I am now obsessed with making a baked Alaska! Service was friendly and efficient and servers were knowledgeable about the food! All in all is definitely in my top 5 restaurant experiences! We will be back!"

  • "Our dinner was a celebration of my son's and daughter's anniversaries; they, their spice, and my husband and I were a "sixtop." I'd requested a round table, since it enhances general conversation greatly, and that request was honored, and the anniversaries were acknowledged (subtly, as is our preference...with HappyAnniversary written in chocolate on the dessert plates.) Benjamin, our server, was a delight....friendly, personal, professional, totally helpful ( as were his "acolytes" who teamed to bring all the plated meals simultaneously from the BUSY,AMAZINGLY COORDINATED kitchen of which I caught a glimpse. The food was PERFECT in creativity, taste, beauty, as always. We have done this for over five years and will return! THANKS!!"

  • "This place is beautiful. It's just outside of the city in an old lovely house set on a farm. Probably over 90% of the menu is local, and quite a bit of it comes from the farm in the back. It's like a New England old world version of Blue Hill in NY on a smaller scale but with the added advantage of the proximity to the sea. The food is not terribly innovative, but everything is well executed, thoughtful, and flavorful with beautiful presentations in a charming setting."

  • "We scheduled the day to end up in Rockland, Maine for a 6 o'clock seating. It was our wedding anniversary. The pre-arranged flowers were on the table, site in the dining room was perfect. The wait staff was super friendly and not pushy. They knew the menu and the wine list and offered recommendations when asked. This is the second time we have dined at Primo so our expectations were high and they were exceeded. Lovely presentation, unique combinations, fresh produce, excellent timing of the meal and save room for the freshly prepared on site dessert. Everything that we had hoped our dinner would be. Primo is a great farm to table dining experience. We walked the on site farm/gardens after dinner."

  • "Primo was recommended by the managers of the hotel we were staying in. We wanted to experience a farm to table resturant. It was the best meal we have had in years. I had a grass fed steak and it was fabulous. My husband had the fra diavlo. Again it was delicious and so fresh. They even brought out a little sample appitizer for us to try. So yummy. The waiter, Aaron, was great too. He was very knowledgable about the menu and had some great recommendations. We just wanted to keep eating all night!!! They even remembered it was our anniversary and they brought out a special dessert for us. So special. Things like that mean a ton. We live 4 hours away in boston, but for a special occasion we will make the trip"

  • "Even in June, our tourists have arrived. It's a 2-hour round trip for us, but that won't stop us. Excellent foie gras. Their pastas as a secondi are a must to split and share. Their wine list is very good, if a bit pricey. But so is Primo, it's that good. They seemed to have hired new waiters though. Experience and maturity always works well, but they're very polite, very attentive, and efficient. We both had fish this trip, salmon and halibut, and my wife kept to her bread and fish soup appe out of devotion and love for it."

And they tried to blame me saying chef generally prepares it medium rare so it was kind of like "that's what you get for not following the recommended preparation". I order duck breast frequently, always medium, without issue. To their credit, they were quite gracious about correcting the mistake but even chef's suggested prep was just okay."

  • "We are local in the area and often enjoy dinners at Primo. Unfortunately, the night of our 37 th anniversary they were slightly off the high mark to which they normally hold themselves. Specifically, my fish, local caught halibut, was moderately overcooked (I can take under-cooked any day, but over-cooked is not something I handle well). The dinner turned out "OK" but not the quality we've come to expect from Primo. At prices which are the highest in the area, apart from Natalie's in Camden, overcooked fish is not something that should be presented to the diner. We have come to expect exceptional food at Primo's and have been regular customers since they opened (in fact, my niece used to work there)."

  • "Downtown Rockland, Maine -- and many midcoast towns are now chockablock with fine restaurants -- but Primo remains, well, primo. We hadn't been there in many years until this past Saturday night, and the wait was worth it. The staff is (somehow) simultaneously casual and professional, and the food is superlative. The bread-and-fish soup has to be among the best seafood soups/chowders I've ever tasted. The grilled chicken livers (both of these are appetizers) beats anything you've ever thought of, when it comes to c. livers. Ditto the entrees. Fabulous wine list. Lovely surroundings. What is there to say? If you haven't been to Primo, get thee hence."

  • "My boyfriend took me out to an amazing dinner here at Primo. With an Italian and Mediterranean inspired menu, we had many tough options to chose from. There are 4 acres of kitchen gardens and livestock located on premises that supply the restaurant with the freshest ingredients. We started out with a brick oven pizza with fresh eggplant, basil, and mozzarella cheese. The crust was cooked to perfection and the taste of the ingredients were just so fresh. I knew this was only the start to an amazing night. Primo has an extensive and finely chosen wine list as well as artisanal breads, homemade pastas and gelato.   • "Primo is our go-to restaurant in the area. Fresh ingredients combined in nuanced combinations makes this a foodie's paradise. This is one of those places where you want to try everyone's dish when it arrives at the table and you leave thinking about which selections you'll make next time you come, because they all sound so intriguing. If you want an intimate dinner, be sure to call well-ahead (in the summer) to get into one of the dining rooms. They serve dinner in the enlarged bar area which is also great - more casual with tables closer together and a bit more noise. It's a great option energy-wise and sometimes you can drop-in. You can't go wrong here if you like creative, healthy food combinations really well-prepared. Enjoy!"
