Wonderful food served with flair at PRIMO. I have been to this restaurant at least 3 times and the Primo in Orlando twice. The food never fails to be less than perfection. Definitely worth the money that you will pay. Had delicious red snapper with shrimp and grits that I will remember for a long time. Husband salmon was yummy as was the appetizer of heirloom tomatoes.

Primo's gardens are enticing, the food was very good. However, the second floor is very noisy. Probably due to the bar upstairs. I wish we had known to ask for downstairs. Definitely a place for "People to be Seen."

Our party of four was seating upstairs; the seating was very comfortable and the noise level was unexpectedly low which allowed for a great evening of conversation among our party. Service was truly outstanding and the food superb. The wine list was excellent and when we asked about a particular concept of wine, our server came back with a recommendation for a wine that was not yet on the list. We went with the recommendation and it was a wonderful choice and exactly what we had asked for. To comment more on the food: every course was tremendous and within each course, all of us were extremely pleased with both the menu and our choices. We all thought it was one of the most outstanding restaurant choices we have made in years.

Primo's in Rockland exceeded my high expectations! From the easy and efficient online reservation process to a well-trained and most hospitable staff and highlighted by an outstanding pork saltimbocca and glass of Sancerre, I was glowing by the end of our lovely dinner. I was particularly impressed with the high level of service we received. Our reservation was at the beginning of a very busy Saturday night, but we never felt rushed. My husband's birthday which was the reason for the evening out was even noted in thoughtful ways. I have and will continue to enthusiastically recommend Primo's in Rockland to friends and family.

Many places talk about farm to table, but Primo lives it as they use ingredients from their own farm. We were here during tomato season and so many dishes benefited from it, as they enhanced the dishes. I recommend the specials as they were our favorites with all that we ordered and yet I do not think you can order wrong. Service and atmosphere are fantastic as well. I do wish the salumi I saw on the bar menu upstairs was available downstairs on the menu, although we did not ask. Highly recommend a visit to Primo!

Best meal of the season! After several less than satisfactory visits this summer, I was starting to worry that our favorite restaurant was slipping. Those concerns were wiped away this weekend. Everyone in our party loved their selections - the pork chop with fried green tomatoes, a delicious pasta with butternut squash and duck, lamb, heirloom tomatoes and scrumptious deserts. Truly perfection.

Another wonderful meal at chef-owned Primo! No special occasion...a 'just because' evening. Included at the start, a treat that never disappoints: the amuse bouche -- this time a warm savory mushroom puree, for sipping, paired with a micro green and mushroom topped crostini. Lovely surroundings whether you are in the intimate dining rooms downstairs, or the livelier upstairs bar and lounge rooms; knowledgeable staff; phenomenal chef; imaginative and satisfying menu that offers local (including their own) produce and meats/fowl; nice selection of wines and mixed drinks; and freshly made desserts, all in a relaxed, but attentive, atmosphere.

Great food well prepared, romantic setting. I would have given them 5 stars as they accommodated my gluten intolerance by omission. Nothing yummy was put in as replacement. Bread on table again, nothing offered to me. I think a restaurant at this level can make sure all it's guest are provided for at every level.

This is the second time we've been here. This time it was for my wife's birthday. Appetizers were Pemaquid mussels for my wife and fried oysters for me. Then for her main course, she had a delicious seafood pasta dish in which there was much more seafood than pasta. I had the pork saltimbocca and I absolutely recommend this to anyone. The meal was complimented with an excellent bottle of Hanzell '07 Pinot Noir. Service was superb. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Start with the outstanding bread and fish soup. Very good, perfect for the weather change. Apparently I've had the pork saltimbocco before. Probably because it is so damned good. And my wife's tomato and mozzarella appe was one of the very best she's ever had. Beware the cheese plate. Lucifero and their new addition (?) of local goat cheese. Outstanding. And I thought I had saved room for the cannoli but had forgotten you get two. They are small, and probably the best cannoli North of Boston. We'll certainly be back.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Primo during a short trip to the area. I had seen a TV piece about the restaurant on a program in Boston called Chronicle. Everything they said about the restaurant was correct. Great food, great wine list, excellent service. Hard to get a reservation so call early. I called 30 days ahead for a Wednesday night in September and could only get a time of 5:30 or 5:45PM. I had the combination of Lobster and Halibut served over a corn risotto. A wonderful meal!

We visited Maine for a wedding and a guest told us we MUST stop by here and we're glad we did. Had wonderful recommendations and the food was fantastic.

We are frequent travelers from California and finally found the perfect occasion to visit this highly rated restaurant. The food from soup to nuts was terrific in all of our guests opinions, and the service was stellar! The waiter took special care to accommodate our vegetarian guest, assuring her that her choices were not chicken stock based. We had been warned that it was very expensive, but trust me, it was quite moderate compared to restaurants in the Calif. Wine country, San Fran and L.A., with far better service and atmosphere. Even my request for a quiet location was accommodated. Love this restaurant and will certainly return.

    Disappointing

For the past several visits we've been a bit disappointed. This week one particular dish was stellar - beet ravioli with poached lobster had all of the flavors and inventiveness that made Primo a star from its inception. For the rest of our party, most of the dishes were underwhelming. In particular, the shrimp and grits with monkfish was pretty, but plain and without distinction other than a fiery spice that was overpowering. Stick with their classics and you'll be very satisfied - farmer salad, cavatelli, pork saltimbocca, cannoli ...

We have wonderful memories of past meals at Primo. So we were looking forward to our recent visit. Our service was tremendous - a new waitress was so attentive and thoughtful, without hovering or being overbearing. Our cocktails and wine were great too. But the food was only good - lacking any semblance of a Wow! factor. Also, there were other guests (three women) in the room where we ate that became progressively noisy and obnoxious (aka drunk) as the evening progressed. It REALLY took away from our experience. When it became unbearable we asked to move to a quieter room for our desert, which Primo graciously accommodated. But we are left with the question - could the restaurant have done anything to mediate the situation earlier?

Our 50th wedding anniversary dinner at Primo was our second evening meal there in a decade. My niece and her husband joined us for what turned out to be a mixed experience: extremely attentive and personal service; highly creative and tasty dishes; but ambient sound that built and built as the (early) evening wore on, to the point where my head was throbbing and I could barely converse with the people closest to me at our small round table. It's a shame that Primo gets so much right, but the socially-enjoyable part so very wrong -- at least for some of us.

Everyone always says "Oh, you have to try this place!" when it comes to any restaurant outside the megachains of family dining establishments littering the horizons. While many of those are "good," few of them are "great." Being a fairly traveled person, those are the expectations with which I entered Primo. What I experienced was shock that amounted to accidentally finding out what a glass of cold water feels like while chewing strong mint gum. The food was, in two words, shockingly exquisite. In several words, crafted, well-chosen, well-prepared, well-plated, satisfying, and well-paced. I consider myself a foodie and it was the first perfect meal I've had anywhere since moving to Maine 3 years ago. Thank you, Primo.

We had to wait for our table endlessly (and we weren't the only ones)! Means, with a reservation for 08.30 pm we got our starters eventually at 9:50 pm. The place was overcrowded totally using virtually the last inch to pack guests in. The food was nice, however, for an Italian who was with us not eatable. If they offer "grandma's dishes" they should cook them that way! In fact, the awards presented on the walls are pretty outdated. For what we eventually had payed and gained in return, we can't recommend Primo at all.

My wife and I were on vacation in Maine from Texas for ten days and our son (a chef) recommended that we try Primo. It looked gorgeous, the service was exceptional but the loud table conversations eventually distracted me from the wonderful food. Climbing down off of my soapbox, we had an excellent oyster appetizer cooked two ways. Fried on top of diced potatoes and roasted in a harissa sauce. We also tried a special of poached oysters, the liquor then was used to make the sauce with tasso and bitter greens that went over fantastic spinach linguine. We split a perfectly cooked filet of halibut in a lobster sauce. Dessert was Espresso crunch bar and was marvelous!

The food was awesome, highlights were the pasta dishes, the nightly special of spinach linguine with biter greens, was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The lubina, the strip steak and the house cured meats were also out of this world. Thanks to the whole staff for a very memorable dinner.

Unless you live there...you cannot find it at night in the rain or if it is dark outside ..there is NO decent light to illuminate the place. The parking lot is too small and narrow. Then..the swordfish was too spicy for me..our wait staff who cleared my plate must have told the server who then asked what was wrong with the fish...very uncomfortable for me to respond . I felt like I was a child being scolded my parents for not cleaning my plate. The server then told the maître de or someone because then she offered us free Prosecco ..more liquor is NOT the answer. I should have looked at the spices in the dish..so I accept that issue. A complimentary dessert would have been a better compensation. The gal who sat us was very cold .

The Food is some of the best in Maine - imaginative, well presented and delicious. It is in old house so it has a cozy feel with walls, halls and stairs. Unfortunately it is located on a busy state road and diners cannot see the nearby ocean or extensive gardens from the tables
