We were a group of five and we a great time learning about the menu from our server who was really fun and informative about Primo's intriguing menu. We got there early, went out to see the gardens first, toured through the building a bit while we waited, and found the food and atmosphere to be really special. We liked the focus on a very sophisticated menu all happening within a warm, welcoming, comfortable, casual atmosphere.

Primo is worth the trip!!! It's a gem of a restaurant located in mid-coastal Maine that serves incredibly fresh, delicious, and hyper-local fare. By far the best grilled octopus, lobster sliders, and chicken and pork dishes. Highly, highly recommended.

We have dined at Primo on numerous occasions and it has consistently been excellent. The building and grounds are very nice. The food is spectacular. The menu changes and it is always difficult to make a choice. I had an octupus salad as an apertizer this last time and it was superb. My wife had rabbit as an entree and I had duck. Both were excellent. Portions were just right and the presentation was perfect. The service was very good although i prefer the waitress not engage in conversation with us and our guests. Great dining experience!

I hesitate to say how impressed I was with Primo, which is an absolutely first class operation. Not just great food, but great service with the large staff engaged in a smooth ballet of service despite the full restaurant. The next morning, before leaving the area, we returned to see the extensive gardens surrounding the restaurant -- "farm to table" here is a matter of feet, not miles. Why do I hesitate to say how impressed I was? I want to be able to get reservations in the future despite Primo's reputation and popularity. They recently changed their hours to be open for dinner Monday nights, usually a slow night for restaurants, and the place was packed. Primo is outstanding.

Primo waitstaff was beyond compare. Told them well in advance it was my new wife and I's first dinner on our honeymoon and inquired about them doing anything special. When we were arrived we were instantly seated in the front next to a window and the host brought over a congratulatory glass of prosecco.consistently on point service continued for the rest of the night and it was capped off with a delicious cannoli dessert with a nice personalized touch.

Primo has a stellar reputation for its outstanding food and ambience. The only flaw was we were rushed. Arrived for a 5:45 reservation, and were ushered out the door by 6:45. Our server was delightful, it was the "clearer" who hovered and immediately cleared the plates, even asking if we were finished when there was food remaining. In retrospect, perhaps we should have stopped her, but didn't expect that at Primo...

Overall the Primo restaurant experience was positive however, two of the guests ordered the Atlantic salmon entree which bordered on awful. I order salmon all of the time and the taste of the dish made one think it had gone bad. Probably the result of some obscure spice.

Was here two years ago and loved it then, but the food was even better this time. Wine list featured some hard to find cult wine favorites. Food was inventive and delicious, and our server was superb. Would recommend this highly to foodies. Very fresh and local ingredients. A perfect a Maine experience.

Made a special effort to dine here during our summer week on the midcoast. The food was superb. There was something for everyone to enjoy- foodies and traditionalists alike. Nice cocktails, inventive appetizers, killer desserts and spirits. Waiter was low key and helpful. What I would suggest is that they have a place for people waiting for their table to be able to sit rather than hover standing in the small anteroom.

Primo is perfect for special gatherings where spending a little extra is worth it. Food carefully prepared with subtle "zippyness" and intriguing flavor "treasurers". Look forward to next visit. Will plan for a less busy time of year (not August) and will be sure to check out the upstairs bar which is favored by locals.

My wife and I don't go out very often, but when we do we look for a place to talk, relax and enjoy the evening together. At Primo we found exactly that. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and non-intrusive, the menu (and off-menu specialties) all sounded delicious and we were both very happy with our meals. I had the quail stuffed with a duck stuffing served on top of local greens and a ravioli and it was absolutely delicious. My wife had the saffron infused linguini with smoked swordfish that she couldn't get enough of. Our table was close to others but we had plenty of space and we were able to sit next to each other for a more romantic anniversary. We will certainly be returning!

Food and Service was exceptional. Atmosphere was slightly less than exceptional, only regarding the level of noise. We weren't aware to ask for seating downstairs vs. upstairs next to the lounge/bar area. Will certainly will be coming back and will request downstairs seating. Aaron and the wait staff were perfect. The food was an experience unlike any other.

As a Chauvinistic New Yorker, especially when it comes to restaurants and great food, I viewed what I read about Primo with a bit of skepticism. Man, was I wrong. The food was amazing, the service first rate and the setting beautiful. This chef really knows what she's doing. Every dish we had was creative, locally sourced, and prepared perfectly. Our waitress was upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable. Precisely what u want your server to be. A spectacular dining experience.

I've eaten at Primo several times over the past years. It is an excellent restaurant with very creative, well-prepared food. This time around was less "wow" for me. The cucumber shooter amuse bouche was acidic and rather unpleasant. The papardelle dish was less tender than I hoped and needed salt. All that said, so much else was simply fantastic: the oysters, the pizza, the desserts.

One of the best restaurants we have been to in Maine! The food was outstanding!! If I had to offer any critical feedback it would be to have a bit more spacing between the tables. We were at a table for two and felt like we were a crammed in a corner and very close to the table next to us. Enough so that they leaned over to see what we were eating and ask us questions about it.

A trip to this restaurant is always a very special occasion and we have never left there with any unfulfilled "foodie" dreams! With five of us, we had a range of dishes from incredible cedar-planked king salmon to Pork Saltimbocca to the most gorgeous steak ever - each dish was beautifully presented and the food cooked to perfection. All of this served in a room with beautiful art on the walls. Perfect evening!!

I don't think I can characterize us as "regulars" just yet, but twice in a little over a month puts us on that path--for good reason. The place is just superb. Each course was scrumptious, the portions were just right, and the service was great. Primo is not just a great midcoast Maine restaurant, it's a great restaurant. We again took the time before dinner to stroll through the carefully maintained garden out back, which added to our appreciation for the freshness of the fare.

We live in Maine, but had yet to visit Primo until this summer. We chose it as the place to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. As advised, we arrived before our reservation to wander the grounds, giving us a glimpse of the expansive vision that defines this unique place. Despite gray skies and a sudden chill in the air, the service and food brightened our spirits and pleased our palates. We don't dine out often, so when we do, we are all the more disappointed or ecstatic about the experience. The food here is to be savored and lingered over; Primo certainly belongs in our top five Maine dining adventures. It must be even more exceptional when the sun is shining and there aren't as many annoying/entitled tourists ruining the charm.
