  • My husband and I went to celebrate
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 9/15/2012
My husband and I went to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. When we walked in I thought it was the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. The decor was elegant, the lights dim. We were shown immediately to our table and our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. The steak was great but my husband & I were talking about coming back just for appetizers, sides and dessert. Those were exciting & exceptional. Also, it's a nice touch that they hold your take home bags until you leave. That way if you're having dessert or just talking awhile before leaving you don't have a bunch of bags in the way. We will definitely visit as often as out budget will allow.

The food was very good and reasonably priced. I had a filet that was prepared perfectly. The eggs were fluffy and light. The staff was friendly and nice. Unfortunately I just went to their site and it says they closed for business on September 17. That's too bad I was looking forward to having brunch there again.

    Dined on 9/13/2012
I chose the Primehouse for the location for a business dinner. I've been to many steakhouses in NYC. I was extremely surprised by the high quality of the food. The sides were perfectly prepared and delicious (asparagus, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, duck fat home fries). My dining partner's filet mignon was perfectly seasoned and seared. My veal chop was less than perfect but I would try it again. Overall, agreat experience and I woudld fo back and definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent dining experience with out of town business guest. Superb attention from waitstaff and excellent NY Strip Steak cooked to perfection and order. The BLT salad was delicious and the sides were appropriately sized and very good. I would recommend this restaurant to all in the area of lower Park Avenue/Murray Hill section of NYC. My first visit this past week but I will make it a point to frequent more often for both business and personal enjoyment.... Craig

The manager checked in with us several times throughout the night - I guess we looked lost because he thought we were out-of-towners and wanted to make sure that we were having a good time. Very, very impressed with the service; would definitely go there again for a yummy steak!

The little bagels they serve in lieu of stale bread are a real treat...and if you can stop eating them, maybe you'll have some room left for the great food. I'm not a big eater, so sometimes I'll have two appetizers. The staff really goes out of the way to take care of you, very attentive. We celebrate all of our special occasions here. Elegant and understated decor. A great place to propose--comfy wide booths are very romantic!

Have been going to Steve Hanson restaurants for years and swear by them. Always a good meal. This time a big disappointment. It took three tries to get my wifes drink order correct. Had a porterhouse steak that was basically tasteless a baked potato that was dry and sauteed spinach that was horrible. Had a good experience here for brunch a few months ago. Maybe weekends in nyc during the summer with second stringers?

Fantastic meal is overshadowed only by the fantastic service. I love this place and only wish it had Restaurant Week prices ALL THE TIME. We're in a recession, and while I would love to dine here every week with my lovely companion, even she understands; this is a premium place. But you get what you pay for, and that's some delicious food with a wonderful ambiance.

  • I don't think our male server
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 8/10/2012
I don't think our male server liked the restaurant week menu much for it was prix fix. Most diners were young and dressed very casually, some in streetwear shorts and t-shirts in contrast to a sophisticated dark dining room with chic furniture and interior design. One of our older companions asked our server for some salt and pepper and they were almost handed over across the table from where he was standing. He caught himself doing that and quickly came around to her side. The grilled pork belly was glistening in the dark with shiny intensely tasty oil. The steak was 7oz size on the RW menu and was not very good. I was disappointed because I had expected a good steakhouse to be with some sort of dignifying pedigree. Sorry, not this one.

I had a reservation for Friday late lunch. It was the last day of "Restaurant Week". Eventhough the other party had not arrived I was asked if I would like to wait or be seated, nice touch. When my guest arrived he was seated and we perused the menu. Although the the Luncheon menu looked good we decided since it was a little later we would have a couple of entrees. We ordered the Bone in Filet and a Porterhouse for one. The steaks had a fair amout of pepper on it nonetheless they were cooked to perfecton and were terrific. The service could not have been better. I would reccomend this restaurant highly

I went there during restaurant week. I ordered house-cured pork belly as an appetizer. It was so tasty. I loved it. Hanger steak salad was good. Meat was nicely cooked and tender, however, salad was kind of soaked with dressing, too salty. I told a server about that and they served me a salad which has a dressing on the side. Sorbet was nice too, I probably want to visit again, :)

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 8/3/2012
My experience was during restaurant week. The dishes I sampled were all executed well. My steak was cooked perfectly though the side it came with was disappointing; the puree that came with the dish amounted to a small streak on the side of the plate. The ambiance was great: dimly lit room with a light hum of conversation that kept it from feeling empty while not being distracting. Dessert was amazing and the service was exceptional; our waitress stopped by to straighten the silverware in between courses. Great steakhouse experience. Would definitely go back.
