The setting is magnificent and the service was attentive and professional. From the time we entered and were greeted, we knew we made the right decision. The food, we all ordered steaks, was excellent and prepared exactly as requested. The sides were good and the dessert called the volcano was not only a conversation piece, but was also very good and hit the proper sweet spot for all of us.

My wife and I have never been disappointed with the food, service or ambience at the restaurant. The Filet Medallions au Poivre was excellent. The walls are old world style dark wood so the ambience is a little dark. The food, especially the steaks, were excellent. They even took the time to write "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plate, which was a surprise and a nice touch. It's a little pricey but well worth it. When they called to confirm our reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything. I explained that we were celebrating my husband getting out of the Navy. I didn't think anything of it until we sat down and opened our menus. There was a special message to My husband. That meant so much to us for them to recognize him. It really made us feel special. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the gracious manager who informed us that our table was ours for the night so we could linger at the bar first, or be seated right away - our choice. We chose to enjoy a drink first and felt warmly welcomed by the patrons and bartender. When we were seated, we were taken care of by a knowledgeable and attentive pair of servers: Sean and Lisa. The ambience was conducive to quiet conversation with enough light to read the menus, but still be romantic. My husband enjoyed his Ahi tuna, while I savored a special chicken dish from the prix fixe menu. Quite worth it as we were greeted warmly & received excellent service. Food selections for the Week - one each of beef, chicken and fish - all looked terrific as did the appetizers (3) & desserts (2). Steaks prepared as requested & very flavorful. Chicken selection proved very tasty also. Appetizers & desserts rounded out a great dining experience. Very reasonable selection of wine & our selections worked well. Large & attentive wait staff. Due to the full dining room & piano/bass duet in next room, noise was a bit full for one of our party of 3. Nonetheless, we plan to return soon to sample the full menu.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI had high hopes for this birthday.I have heard nothing but rave reviews about Prime at Saratoga National, however, my experience was not the best. We ordered two appetizers, both were disappointing. The bread/cracker basket should never be on any table. It was almost as if someone was scrounging around in the cupboards for snacks when a guest arrives unannounced. That sounds harsh, I realize, these comments reflect my perspective. We ordered the from the Saratoga Week menu as well as the regular menu. The best thing I can say about the food was it was simply adequate. Someone added freeze-dried chives to my soup as a garnish.
