The food was spectacular and we definitely ate quite a bit. The only problem we faced was that we were ignored by the waitstaff who was supposed to be attending to us for most of our time there. There was a bigger anniverary party that arrived mid-way through our meal, but we were also paying customers. We had to seek out a busser to have our waters and coffees refilled. A waiter who had tables on a different side of the room came to clear our plates away and we asked him for our bill because we didn't know when or if our waitress would return. Side dishes are ala carte, of generous proportions and not inexpensive. So, for most folks, I would recommend Prime for special occasions or to impress a client. Our last visit was for dinner on Mother's Day. The place was sold out, the wait staff was swamped, and the service was a little slow. However, that was an unusual situation. The setting is magnificent and the service was attentive and professional. From the time we entered and were greeted, we knew we made the right decision. The food, we all ordered steaks, was excellent and prepared exactly as requested. The sides were good and the dessert called the volcano was not only a conversation piece, but was also very good and hit the proper sweet spot for all of us.

The walls are old world style dark wood so the ambience is a little dark. The food, especially the steaks, were excellent. They even took the time to write "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plate, which was a surprise and a nice touch. It's a little pricey but well worth it. When they called to confirm our reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything. I explained that we were celebrating my husband getting out of the Navy. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the gracious manager who informed us that our table was ours for the night so we could linger at the bar first, or be seated right away - our choice. We chose to enjoy a drink first and felt warmly welcomed by the patrons and bartender. When we were seated, we were taken care of by a knowledgeable and attentive pair of servers: Sean and Lisa. The ambience was conducive to quiet conversation with enough light to read the menus, but still be romantic. My husband enjoyed his Ahi tuna, while I savored a special chicken dish from the prix fixe menu. Due to the full dining room & piano/bass duet in next room, noise was a bit full for one of our party of 3. We ordered two appetizers, both were disappointing. The bread/cracker basket should never be on any table. It was almost as if someone was scrounging around in the cupboards for snacks when a guest arrives unannounced. That sounds harsh, I realize, these comments reflect my perspective. We ordered the from the Saratoga Week menu as well as the regular menu. The best thing I can say about the food was it was simply adequate. Someone added freeze-dried chives to my soup as a garnish.
