It was cooked as ordered, but over-salted and under textured/flavored. There are much better places to get a fine peace of meat in STL. The wine list was decent, big names, big prices, but jejune. Overall my impression based on many years of dining/sommelier-ing experience=jejune."

  • "Prime 1000 was enjoyable. The food, service, and overall approach. The menu has a variety of steak options from Prime, to Black Angus, Grass Fed, and Bison. In addition they have complimenatary sauces that accentuate the favor. I had the Bison and was very please with the flavor and the preparation. The starters have a good variety... I recommend the Deviled Eggs.... unique find. Nice slection of non-steak entrees as well, so if you have non-steak eaters, the choices were very appealing. Our server, Bart, was VERY knowledgeable of the menu, and offered excellent suggestions. He was always available, but rarely formally checked in. I often saw him and he was seeking our queue if we needed something. Very refreshing approach!"

  • "I've eaten here before and always had a good experience. Poor poor poor service this time. Seated without menu's or drink order for 15 minutes. Ordered a specific brand of drink. They were out of it and subbed hoping I wouldn't notice. Bread took almost 20 min. to come out. They offered to comp a beet salad. Dinner itself was Very Good. Sides have small portions, though. When receiving check I was charged for the wrong drink, told the other would be comped (it wasn't), and charged for comp salad. It has been a very long time since I've had service this poor from a restaurant in this class. Hopefully, this was out of character and not going to continue."

  • "Made the reservation for my boyfriends Bday. I think that they might have been short staffed because it took a little while for her to come to the table but once she did she was very nice. She knew the menu very well & was able to give us great reccommendations. As the night progressed she became increasingly busy & was not able to give her tables the proper service. She rarely came to check on us however this is not her fault, I just believe that they might have been short staffed. Overall is was a great experience with lovely food & wine. price point was right on target (what I expected) & the food I thought was worth it.Definitely not a place to frequently regularly for a dinner for 2 but perfect every now & then or for special occasions"

  • "You pay for a high end steakhouse but don't get it. The night we went, they were out of 2 entire categories of meat, several appetizers, and a sauce. The explanation was that they got slammed on Valentine's Day (5 days earlier, presumably, all reservations, not sure how they were caught unaware or couldn't replenish). The wine list was pricey, but unimpressive, and our waiter was unable to tell us about a wine we were interested in (although he did offer a taste). Service was sub-par, especially since the restaurant was basically empty. Salad and bread were delivered promptly, but we waited about 20 minutes after salad for entrees. We had to replenish our own wine. Food was good, but not great. I'll stick with Ruth's Chris."

  • "I booked the table for two at Prime 1000 on OpenTable about two weeks ahead, and at the time the restaurant was not advertising an event menu. I have had lunch here with a group from work before, so I knew the standard fare would be great. We arrived about 15 minutes early and used the valet parking because of the freezing temperature. We were seated at a table right away and were presented with the menu, we decided on the Valentines menu, which they designed to be shared between a couple, because the choices fit our tastes, and we even added appetizers. In all, the food was excellent, prepared and presented perfectly, though some items were unexpected. Service was discrete and timely. We would be happy to dine here anytime."

  • "My finance and i visited this venue February 15, as recommendation from a friend needless to say we were not impressed. The ambience was nice but the menu lacked. They were out of the grass fed steaks and some.side dishes. I love A1 with my steak however they dont carry it. For the amount if money we were spending i expected much more. Very disappointed."

  • "Beautiful contemporary ambience with elegant urban feel on Washington with a view of the historic Lammert building. Valentine Day menu offered variety. Lobster salad had several layers of favors. The fillet was tender like butter. The only disappointment was the desert. The pastries were only 1/3 filled, so were primarily empty, dry cream-less puffs. Service was very good. Will return for another special occasion."

  • "By coming 2/15 to avoid the 2/14 crowds we were surprised & disappointed to see there was a smaller menu with limited choices for "Valentine's weekend". We've had many great steaks at Prime, but this time the 8oz filet was just ok. It wasn't super tender and my husband's had 2 spots of grizzly fat. The whites of the deviled eggs app seemed a little over done and the flavor combo & texture was a little odd. The shrimp cocktail plate was weirdly shaped like the letter L. It just wasn't nesassary. The orange chocolate eclair was overly sweet. Our waitress was great (can't remeber her name but she lives in Benton Park) and the ambiance was nice as always. Overall the meal was just ok but we want more then ok."

  • "Brought my girlfriend here when we escaped to St. Louis on a weekend trip away from Indiana. This place was exceptional in every single way. Our waiter, Sanjeya, was the best waiter I've ever had during a dining experience. Besides exceptional service, he knew the menu inside and out and asked us questions to direct us to menu items we might enjoy. And enjoy we did! We started with some oysters. The sauces on those were flavorful and delicious. For entrées, I had the 16 oz angus ribeye and she had the 8 oz grass fed filet. We had macaroni and cheese (not just mac and cheese, seriously great!) and mushrooms for sides. My girlfriend never understood my love for steak, now she does! When we're back in St. Louis, we're going here again!"

We recently learned they had opened for lunch with a GREAT menu....The menu is fun and friendly. Service was great. Amy was awesome and entertaining. It took the kitchen some time to prepare our lunch and Amy spent that time talking about the restaurant and the area's upcoming events. We will definitely remember this lunch spot this summer when showing off STL attractions to visitors and when we are in the area for baseball."

  • "This was our first time visiting Prime 1000 and we found everyone very friendly and helpful. There were 6 of us and everyone had a steak and were very pleased. The garlice mashed potatoes were excellent and I would highly recommend that as a tasteful side dish. I will definitely be back in the future."

  • "Took my wife there for our monthly date night, from the valet to the hostess and of course our server everyone was very friendly which along with the ambience made for a very warm and inviting feel. Dinner was ridiculously good, I ordered the oysters and my wife shrimp cocktail we shared the cobb salad and for our entrees I had the Cowboy which was the perfect medium rare and my wife had the grass fed ribeye. An outstanding view of life on Washington Ave made for good entertainment. WE WILL COME AGAIN AND AGAIN, so save us a window seat."

  • "Our server, Amy L, took very, very good care of us. I am a former server, so I know a good job when I see one. She was personable and comedic without overstretching or hovering. My husband & I had a bottle of wine, salad, and steak, of course. The apple butter was delicious. Everything was delicious. She suggested a few of the sauces and they were exactly as she described them. The only thing I would change is that my husband is recovering from a cold and can't really taste....so we have to go back. Darn. :)"

  • "I was searching "Open Tables" for a place in downtown St. Louis to celebrate not only New Year's Eve, but also our 39th Wedding Anniversary as well as our daughter's 26 birthday. I took a chance on Prime 1000, primarily due to its proximity to our hotel. We found a jewel!!!! The atmosphere was perfect, the service was top notch and my wife and daughter (culinary queens in their own right) are still raving about the food. BRAVO PRIME 1000 --- You get our return vote of excellance."

They went out of their way to make some great creations using chocolate that we did not order, so it was much of a surprise.   • "This was our second time visiting Prime 1000. The first time, we had excellent food and service so we were looking forward to this return visit. Unfortunately it did not live up to our previous expectations.When we arrived, the hostess was no where to be found and finally a server went and found her in the bar talking to some other guests. After we were seated, the service was incredibly slow (almost an hour to get our salads) and when we finally received our steaks, they were lukewarm at best, Clearly the timing was off between our server and the kitchen. Our server was constantly moving around the restaurant, but did not appear to be accomplishing much.Just didn't live up to the prices charged and we probably won't return."

  • "One of the best strips I've had in a long time. The restaurant has a fun hip decor and the food quality and service was excellent. The one disappointing thing was they were out of at least 3 steak options from the menu. The server suggested it was due to them being busy, but it was a Tuesday night and it wasn't that busy. Luckily for me it wasn't an issue becuase I wasn't looking at any of those choices anyway. I definately recommend this restaurant."

The steak (we had filet mignon) was hands down the best steak I ever had! Done to perfection and great taste. My husband raved about the creamed corn. We will definitely be back!"
