Diner Reviews
  • "The quality has deteriorated in every area since we were there 2-3 months ago."

  • "The desserts were good and better than the main meals at brunch. The orange juice for one of the parties was never served. The coffee was good. There was nothing that approached outstanding of the main brunch meals. The scrambled eggs with basil, tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella cheese was ordered to be served soft and creamy but, as feared, came dry and with "lumpy" pieces of egg. The prices for each entree are typical of most downtown restaurants but too high for the meals ordered: frittata and the aforementioned scrambled eggs."

  • "Sorry this good restaurant is closing due to hotel renovation"

  • "For the past two years, I have enjoyed Prima before an arts event such as the opera and plays. I have also enjoyed it for special occasions to celebrate with friends. I am very sorry to see it's being closed down."

  • "This was my second visit this year and once again, P.R. was a delight. The food was outstanding -- the salmon is to die for -- and service excellent. My dinner partner had some special dietary needs which were handled smoothly and quietly. All in all, an outstanding evening."

  • "Service is below medocre. Food is uninspired and overpriced. Kevin Taylor is phoning it in on this one."

  • "The food was excellent and very intriguing. They have lots of interesting vegetarian dishes that suited us well. The Marscapone Potato Fritters were to die for!! The downside was the service. It wasn't bad, just mediocre and disappointing for a Kevin Taylor restaurant. We used the same fork and knife for appetizer, salad, and entree. There was no cleaning of the table between courses. Our server was very nice but not well trained for this level of establishment. They could definitely do better."

  • "We caught a meal here before attending a play at the Denver Center next door. The food was good, the wait staff pleasant, & the noise level was appropriate for conversation. The only difficulty we had was finding the actual entrance as the signage is somewhat subtle."

  • "The food was great - I hate those tall chairs. Going to miss this place."

  • "We actually went for lunch but only brunch available. It was very nice. I would recommend having both lunch and brunch available on Saturdays."

  • "We went to this restaurant because it is one of our friend's favorites. We started with the Baby Caprese Skewers which were very nice - because they didn't offer a regular mixed or baby greens salad. The bread was excellent. While the sauce and accompanying vegetables were very tasty, I thought the chicken itself was dry. My husband thought the spaghetti was good but nothing special. Our friend commented that their salmon was very good. Don't miss the Apple Crostata - superb! And my husband enjoyed his Chocolate Hazelnut Torta. Overall, I thought the menu choices were a bit disappointing. I actually don't prefer to sit at a high table with legs dangling, (my foot fell asleep during the meal) - although some think that is special."

  • "Woudl recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place for great food!"

  • "We had the salmon. It was excellent. The salad was ok for me too much dressing for my companion. Service was very slow and inattentive. We had to skip dessert and ask for our check to get to the symphony on time."

  • "My wife and I were in Denver meeting with a friend and had our dog with us and this restaurant was very accommodating. We sat on the patio and had lunch and had our dog tied up next to us. The food was very good and the restaurant was very quiet at noon time."

  • "We had excellent service, very good red wine and the carpaccio was good although the slices were not as thin as I have had before. Tasted great though. The apple squash ravioli was very good too. All of us at the table thought the meal was very good and we were out in plenty of time for getting to a 7:30 event."

  • "The roasted salmon with asparagus, Brussels sprouts, and sweet potatoes was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the buttery sauce was so good - I can't remember exactly what it was but it was excellent. Three of us had this dish and we all raved about it and would highly recommend it. Unfortunately, the squash and onion soup was not a success - it was pretty tasteless even after adding salt and pepper. I would not recommend the soup."

  • "Perfect restaurant for going to before a performance at DCPA, The location including parking make it an ideal spot to grab a bite before the performance. We were. quickly. When the waitress learned that we had performance, she identified the menu items that would be best for us to order to make the show on time. The wine menu is diverse enough and the food menu offered, even with a tight turn around, a decent variety to choose from. This service should be noted was exceptional. From the valet to the waitress to the follow up of the service staff in holding the leftovers until after the performance for us to pickup. I would return to when attending one of the events at the performing arts Center."

  • "Fine if you are staying in the hotel and want convenience. If not, there are many restaurants nearby that have better food and service in the same price range."

  • "Good thing I had made a reservation as all tables were reserved by 5:00. The restaurant is very close to the Denver Center for Performing Arts and service was very accommodating to get us to the play on time. Our dinner selections were delicious."

  • "I really loved the food. However for the price I expected more, I left still hungry."

  • "Location to the Denver Performing Arts Complex is great and this is the one notable of this restaurant. The weekend lunch/brunch menu is limited. Although the food was tasty, portions were on the small side. Our waiter, though nice, was not attentive and seemed preoccupied. We had to ask that empty water glasses be refilled more than once and had to ask another server to take our payment at the end of our meal as waiter was "busy" folding napkins. This is my second time at this restaurant and likely will not go back."

  • "All in all, the food was good, service was terrible, and I would not recommend this restaurant. Instead, go to Oceanaire just across the street, for the same price, everything will be top notch."

  • "We went for Valentine's day and it was wonderful. The food and ambience was incredible as were the drinks. The server was a bit out of touch however it was rather busy due to the holiday. We really enjoyed the experience none the less."

  • "Poorly conceived dishes, badly executed, served with snark and indifference, thankfully there are many other dining choices before heading to a show. Prima has been crossed-off our list."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "We eat here fairly regularly before the theater and it's always good. The last time, the squash risotta dish was a bit bland, but this was atypical. Drinks are a bit pricey, but excellent."

  • "We chose Prima Ristorante because of its location. We were going to see a show at the Buell and it was too cold to walk to the 16th Street Mall to eat. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed everything from the spicy bloody Mary's to the chocolate dessert."

  • "If you are going to the theater, this is a great location. The food and service were very good."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "The restaurant is great for pre-theater -- the Denver Center for Performing Arts is a block away. The food is quite good. However, they need more help. We had one waiter taking care of the entire upstairs. He did his best but there were lulls in the service. I know it's difficult trying to serve everyone going to the theater at the same time, but a second server would have made a difference."

  • "The food was very good, I had a salad with a piece of grilled salmon on top that was cooked perfectly rare, just the way I ordered it. My husband had the pork risotto which was also very good. The service was good, my only suggestion would be that our plates sat on the table for a good 20 minutes after we were finished eating, it doesn't bother me at all but my husband is more fussy about that kind of thing."

  • "We had reservations for 6:30 it was extremely busy and we had a short wait but we were seated and still made the symphony."

  • "second time we've been here, and would go back again."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "Really. This was not a good experience. The service was increadiably slow and not accommodating. There are so many better Italian restaurants to go to in Denver. Pass this one up."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "This was our first visit and we had a wonderful time. It was quiet and we had excellent service. The soft egg ravioli pasta dish was unique and buttery. The shrimp tagliatelle was excellent, as the shrimp were tender and sweet. Chocolate cake/ torte was agreat finish."

  • "We have been to Prima many times with different groups and it does not disappoint, if you are looking for good food, friendly service and a warm environment. Interesting twist on traditional Italian. We even have brought young children who were accommodated well. Great location to the arts district."

  • "Prima is a bistro located in a bar. We were seated directly in front of the bar with two TVs broadcasting football. This is not what I expected at all. It might be OK if you are looking for a sports bar. In addition, my pasta was simply glop!"

  • "We visited Prima Ristorate on Christmas eve. The food was good, but what made the evening was our server. She was fabulous."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "Definitely not a kid friendly restaurant. While they made a burger and fries for each child, they charged $17 per burger. Ridiculous. The pasta was good as was the salad. They were good about keeping us on schedule so we could make our 7:30 show. Our seating was in a very busy area of the restaurant which was not ideal."
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "It was a little strange being in what felt like the lobby of the hotel. However, the food and service were great!!"
    Dined on 12/19/2013
  • "Very loud and crowded upstairs. Seating is very tight. Difficult to talk with our friends at the same table for four. Service was a little slow although the servers really hustled. Arrived at 5:25 pm and barely made 7:30 pm show at the DCPA across the street."

  • "Six of us, 5 pm reservation. Seated into a nearly empty restaurant. Order 3 course Pre fix menu for $37.50 , 2 appetizers for table to share. Pork shoulder, squash and golden raisen Risotto, one medium rare steak and an order of salmon. Brocollini side ordered as well. Wait 20 minutes. No appetizers. Salads and soup come out and we ask about our appetizers. Are told, they come out with first course?!? Soup is tasteless, Risotto arrives, glue like texture and totally devoid of flavor. Brocollini, stems only no florets and cold. Butterscotish pudding mouthful of sand. Steak well done, not a speck of pink. Attempt to send back to kitchen. Are told they are swamped due to large Christmas party and can't correct issues. Spend 350$,leave hungry."
