  • "Restaurant was very loud, the service was incredibly slow. If you go to an Italian place for home made pasta I would expect it to be better than out of the box pasta at home. Sadly this was not the case. It took 45 minutes to get a plate of pasta, but 2 minutes to get a "fresh plate" (servers words) when we sent back what was inedible the first time around. The appetizers was great and the wine list was very impressive."

  • "What a terrific place. The wait staff, manager and owner were extremely hospitable and really care about their patrons. The food was scrumptious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed all our courses. We like to try out different restaurants after attending the North Shore Musicaks and as my husband said this is a "do over". Parking is a challenge. They do have spaces around the corner in the back but it is on a lower level and you need to climb up some stairs to get there, and it isn't labeled as Prides Osteria parking so I drove around a few times before I figured it out."

  • "I had a gift card for open table which is how I found the restaurant. My husband and I were visiting friends in Beverly and wanted to take them out to eat. They had never been to the restaurant before either. I had the most delicious lamb chop I have ever had in my life. The food was delicious, the service was excellent!"

  • "It started off well, the apps arrived quickly and were delicious but we waited a very long time for the entrees and our waitress completely avoided us during that time. When the entrees finally arrived the portions were skimpy, not quite cooked and lacked enough sauce. No one was too impressed. I'd only return for the apps and a drink."

  • "I had enjoyed a wonderful meal at Pride's a couple of months ago, and I couldn't wait to go back. I had ordered the pappardelle with pesto and it was heavenly. I returned with my husband and a friend. We ordered at 7:30 pm, and our entrees arrived at 9:00. Our server was fine, but the ambience was off this time as everyone was looking for their food. The pappardelle arrived - the lightness replaced with a glutinous heaviness. The flavor was dull, and it was cold. My broccoli rabe was stringy, tough and yet overdone. Everyone's food was cold, but we were not sending it back at 9:00 - obviously something was very wrong in the kitchen. The bill arrived in a timely fashion and was around $170 for the three of us. No apologies no comps."

  • "Our second visit to Osteria was a disappointment. Service was slow, food was slow, forgot my dinner, apps not well prepared. So excited to see zucchini blossoms on the menu so we went for a double order. Really oily, somewhat soggy like they had been sitting awhile, sauce nondescript. Sadly I dont think we will be back...what happened?"

  • "I had the swordfish for the second time- it is a delicious preparation; the fish is tender and moist with just the right level of seasoning. I have had this dish elsewhere, and it is often smothered in sauce which tends to dilute the essential flavor of the fish. We shared the salad with gorgonzola and nuts as Prides' was out of beets (our favorite to start); this salad was lovely with a delicate but tasty dressing; alas, this time we were too full to try one of the yummy deserts- next time!"

  • "Our meal was great, service was excellent. The only offsetting thing was the restaurant was less than half full. For a Saturday night I was anticipating more of a vibrant scene. Can't understand why this restaurant wasn't packed. The prices are high for the area but the quality was definitely there."

  • "We made this reservation because LAST summer, when we visited the area, we bought some exquisite pesto from the restaurant at a local farmers market. Expecting to consume the food created by Chef Paolo, we were disappointed to find he had moved on. While the Burrata stuffed zucchini flowers with truffle mayo, were delicate and tasty, the mussels were NOT as fresh as we would have liked. The papardelle, although housemade, was not handled carefully and there were sections that were hard, and uncooked with a Rae floor taste. The pesto was could but unfortunately not the same as the pesto we enjoyed last summer. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. All in all, a bit overpriced and not as unique and wonderful as we had hoped."

  • "I took friends to the restaurant recently. Prides used to be one of my favorite places. I should have known things had changed because at 7 PM the place was completely empty! It is a different chef now. They do not change the menu daily. The pasta portions are larger than before so one can have that as a main course. The food used to be outstanding. Now it is average at best, but still very pricey. Not sure I would go back."

  • "Pride's Osteria has new menus, and a new chef- it's a seamless transition. Although my husband was crazy for the pesto- he enjoyed the new one as well, and found it to be more substantial. I tried chicken; a huge serving and very delicious. A must have for dessert is the trio of fruit sorbetto- so wonderful on a hot evening! The service is always wonderful."

  • "After reading a number of excellent reviews, I wanted to check out Prides. The restaurant itself was beautiful, clean, modern. The food was hit and miss at our table. My sister had mussels and a small portion of the pesto pasta. Pasta was great, mussels were fishy and inconsistent. I had rabbit, on the bone, which tasted good but was very difficult to eat, the meat was very difficult to get off the bone. I think I ended up with about 4 bites all in. We got the focaccia and burrata appetizer, it was good, nothing special. And we got the fried custard slices for dessert which was delicious. All in, it was a pretty expensive meal that was sort of a let down based on reviews. I'm not sure I'll go back."

  • "We went to this restaurant bc we had a gift card & had heard good things. Overall the hand-made pasta with pesto was excellent but the rest of our meal was mediocre at best. We also ordered gnocchi with walnut sauce but it was so hot I would bet it was microwaved which made the gnocchi become gummy. The muscles were ok but nothing special - overall they could use some fine tuning."

  • "We had a party of 4 for a Friday night. Service was good and the food was very good tasting, but the portions were small and the prices were high. Dont let that 2 dollar sign rating fool you. It ended up being $54per person in our party. We only got 2 glasses of wine and no other cold beverages at all. The risotto while tasty has langostinos in it but they were in the shell and too difficult to eat. So 3 of us just pretty much ate risotto with no other seafood or veggies in it. The salad was good but at $10 for a dinner salad it was overpriced. I know the quality of the food is good as I cook organic and fresh at home but I still found the prices to be high with the portions small. The panacotta was delicious!"

  • "The pasta and pesto is beyond description...the best I've ever had!!! We had it for an appetizer and I had a half portion again for dinner. The pesto is served on 'handkerchief' pasta - large delicate squares of pasta that melt in your mouth. The service was fantastic, the menu was so appealing...we wanted everything! The decor is simple and and lovely, just like the food. I had the octopus salad that was perfectly prepared. My husband had the rib eye that was spectacular. Everything was super super delicious...a special dining experience to be sure!!"

  • "Pastas to die for...the house made freshness really shines. The Pesto a standout, but the always changing/seasonally inspired dishes keep us coming back. The Charcuterie/Farm Board is worth ever morsel. The flatbread amazing. Can't say enough good things about this hidden gem, off the beaten track restaurant. Almost fearful of saying good things because I worry it'll get overrun and hard to get a table. (Extra tip: the muddled dirty martini is killer!)"

  • "Except for the pasta, the food is definitely not the gourmet quality we expected. And everything was overpriced, from the basic house salad to the 'segundi.' The rest of my family had pasta dishes, which were okay although on the small side for the price. But my swordfish dish was pretty unappetizing, to say the least. It was a plate of chopped up swordfish with chopped up mushrooms in a fairly tasteless sauce. It looked like something you'd throw together out of leftovers, and tasted pretty much the same. Chef Ramsey would have taken one look and tossed it in the trash. Save your money, there must be decent Italian restaurants in the area that won't charge an arm and a leg and will give you better food."

I am gluten free and not able to try what my husband said was the best pasta ever!! There were multiple options for me, both appetizers and entrees. We loved it and will definitely go back again."

  • "Because, some foodie friends weren't emphatic that we should get there, they grumbled that its expensive and loud (on the bar side) but we unanimously say who cares, the food was prepared to perfection! The delightful woman serving us couldn't have been nice, very helpful with the wine and each plate was so delicious, we ordered a third salad (we were only 2 people) because we needed. To share it again! The pasta and the pesto and the bread, all indulgences I will gladly repeat!"

  • "Prides Osteria is a fine restaurant that I wish was a great restaurant. The food is always well prepared and there is a nice selection of wine. The chef takes more chances than anyone else on the North Shore: veal-belly stuffed with sweetbreads was a recent special. Service is friendly and professional. I wish, though, that the menu was larger. While it varies daily, about 50% is almost always the same. It also seems a bit pricey for what you get. I will keep coming back because they have the best italian in the area, but i'll keep hoping for more, too."

  • "This little place tucked away on a rough and tumble street is a local treasure. They have lots of interesting cocktails (we enjoyed something called a gingerello) and a great wine list. The buratta appetizer and the farm board charcuterie is the best we've had, with succulent slivers of meats and cheeses, and some crusty crackery bits (maybe fried pasta dough?). Speaking of pasta, Pride's is to die for. I fully believe that their claim of "world's best pesto" is true. They serve it over thin sheets of pasta. I've never tasted anything so wonderful. It was all we could do not to lick the plates. After 6 or so visits, we've only rarely made it to the entrees, but when we do, it's always sublime. I can't recommend this place more highly."

  • "Indeed, Paolo Laboa’s Prized Pesto is amazing ... and you must try it. My daughter and I took my wife to Prides Osteria for a special Mother's Day 2014 noon opening. We were greeted warmly, and began the feast. The warm octopus salad, the farm board, pesto ravs and lasagna, great wines and beer selection. Topped off with coffee, cappuccino and deserts ... we enjoyed a relaxed dining experience with unbelievably creative cuisine. Prides Osteria is now being put on our North Shore "rotation list" ... we'll be back with friends as we go "up the line" from Cape Ann."

If importing prosciutto from Italy causes a business to charge that much for simple menu items (e.g. tortellini and foccacia), import something else, and bring the cost down. Most palates can not differentiate at that level, Perhaps this restaurant truly caters to foodies who can? Not the likes of me, I guess. This place was nice, but not worth the dent in my budget."

  • "Our second trip to Prides Osteria was wonderful; this time, I tried the cod dish- it was sumptuous, delicately seasoned and delicious. My husband seems obsessed with the pesto pasta. Once again, the beets were wonderful, and this time we shared a rich chocolate square for dessert. Although there were five other tables occupied, it was not at all noisy which was a pleasant experience. I'm sure we will become regulars at Prides Osteria."

  • "I took my wife and 3month old here for my wife's birthday and have not had as good a meal as we did here in over 2years. Hands down the best restaurant on the North Shore. The food is unbelievably fresh. The flavors are incredibly flavorful. The staff is very knowledgeable about where the products are grown or raised, and they've tasted the wine list so they all know what to recommend. Ben the GM was also incredible. He made a great reco for us on wine that was perfect, he helped find a table in the restaurant that would accommodate the stroller holding our sleeping baby, and he asked the chef to make a special dessert for my wife. My wife and I could not have been happier, and we can't wait to go back in a few weeks. Thanks everyone!"

  • "Prides Osteria bills itself as an authentic Northern Italian osteria, in downtown Beverley! With excellent service, a menu that changes daily based on fresh local sourcing, and fabulous food, I would agree. However, sound echos around the wood-floored room, and if there is a large party there as there was when we ate, it can be tough to hear across the table. The restaurant offers a good wine list with lots of selection by the glass. Talk to the waiter, though. The descriptions are a little hard to decipher... We really enjoyed our meal. If you're in the area, give them a try!"

  • "We discovered Prides Osteria on Open Table and decided to try it. Service was gracious and helpful, the menu was interesting and appealing plus a very good selection of wine. My husband was determined to try the award winning pesto and was not disappointed; I had the lobster ravioli and it was the best I've ever had. This dish was prepared with a tasty but not overpowering red sauce and the pasta was delicate and filled with lobster meat- excellent! Often lobster ravioli is prepared in a too heavy cream sauce but this was exquisite- do try it ! We shared a plate of cooked beets and then cannoles for desert. The bar is in a separate room from the dining- we appreciate this as some bars can be noisy and overwhelm. We shall return soon."
