The chopped salad with bacon, avocado, apples was really good. We both ordered the rib eye and it was great. My husband ordered his med rare and thought it was cooked a little more than it should have been but he still enjoyed every bite! We split the souffle, which I think was a mistake because we could have each had one. It is a destination for us and we live more than 1,000 miles away. There are other restaurants in the area which Michelin gives three stars, but Press is for us, the three star attraction. Why? The wine list.
The Michelin three star restraints insist one consume a ten course meal. Unfortunately, ten course meals make it impossible to enjoy great wines. Yet Napa is about wine. Press has by far the best list of Napa wines I have ever seen. It is better and easier to learn about great Napa wines at Press than by touring the wineries where one tastes great, but far to young wines. We have made two trips to Press in twelve months. The food was amazing California fare - fresh, unique but unpretentious. Some favs: the artichoke salad was one of a kind, and the wood grilled filet was perfect with truffle Mac & Chz! My husband had homemade mint chocolate chip - they pick the mint fresh from their farm, it was incredible.
The wine list is all Napa -- we ordered by the glass (great selection & guidance from staff), and the ambiance was intimate but modern & not stuffy.
Finally, the waitstaff was as professional and polite as I have ever found -- they really made the evening!

Had the asparagus side dish which was plenty for three of us to share. Wine list is extensive but had a wonderful $70 bottle of wine. Certainly on the low end of the price range but excellent choice.

I didnt think we would be able to get in on such short notice during our trip, but opentable found us a late-evening spot (815pm) and we took it. The waitress recommended the mixed grill for two (wagyu beef, pork chop, skirt steak and NY strip). We paired it with some sides (sauteed spinach and mini loaded potatoes) and we were NOT disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly, the food service was paced properly and we left SO FULL and satisfied.
