Preservation Kitchen preserves the traditions of regional cuisine and drink. The Northwest seasonal menu supports local producers, and uses sustainable, organic ingredients when possible to create the perfect “fine dining comfort food.” Pair your food with a drink from the extensive book of Wines & Libations to complete your meal.

Preservation Kitchen offers the elegance, warmth, and comfort of celebrating any occasion with the ease of feeling at home with family and friends, but without you doing any of the work. The restored historic 1916 Kaysner Estate was formerly home to Bothell's mayor and is located in a woodsy naturalistic setting. During the summer the outside patio is a relaxing area to grab a cocktail for the daily Happy Hour while enjoying the sprawling grounds.

  • "The food was good and the wine list was good, however they seated us inside. Did not even ask if we want to sit outside. Which we would have done because it was 90 degrees out and there was NO air conditioning. It was so hot we could barely enjoy the food. The wine was hot. I had to get up to go outside for a bit to cool off, which is when I noticed there was outside seating. In the shade which was 10 - 15 degrees cooler than inside. As I said the food was good so I may try it again sometime but only once.... so overall the experience was unpleasant."

  • "Salmon, filet, duck leg. The menu is definitely a NW creation. The wine list is 90% west coast. Same for the cheese selections. While the options were limited, not in quantity offered, but in uniqueness & variability, they are reliable excellent & the accompaniments add an interesting flair to the standard NW offerings. Great fries. Heard the mashed potato was a definite try but it was out that evening. I will return to just have a taste of the mashed. The noise level could be unbearing if there is a rowdy group because of the low ceilin. But the clienteles mostly seems to be the quiet sort. Ask to sit at a different section if you find a group next to you upon sitting."

  • "Went here for dinner for the 1st time for my 40th birthday. I was hoping for a special meal & based on their menu thought it would be perfect. Sadly the ambience was lacking-super loud & shoved in a corner table. And while the waiter was ok we literally only saw him to place our order- then never saw him again except to give our check. The food was ok- like most in Seattle - expensive & boring. Dessert was the fruit cobbler which had obviously just been microwaved. I think my husband was hoping to tell the waiter it was my birthday so maybe he could put a candle in the dessert but again we never saw him. The bar seemed like it might be fun but can't say we will be eating here again."

  • "Went here for brunch and got the "breakfast nachos." I was served a cold plate of generic & flavorless breakfast potatoes drowned in salsa water, topped with a tiny bit of unmelted cheese, bland salsa, and an undercooked egg with slimy egg white. I took two bites and then stopped in disappointment- when you start thinking of a way to take the potatoes home a re-purpose them for another meal instead of enjoying your current meal? Not good! So, the kitchen blew it on an easy, easy concept for a breakfast dish. What really sealed the deal for my never returning here, though, was the waiter walking by three times, seeing my full plate, and never asking how the food was. I had to flag someone down to get it taken off the bill, and left hungry :("

  • "It was a great surprise. The food was excellent. Unfortunately they were short on people for serving. I am not sure if this is a common practice, but it looks like they had one waitress to serve the entire restaurant this Saturday (05/31) during lunch time. I would give 5 stars, because they were very nice and careful, but it took an eternity to have my bill closed. I will definitely try again, and I strong suggest this place to my friends. "

  • "My cousin was here from Ca. and wanted to treat us to a nice dinner. We walked into the restaurant and were seated immediately in the fireplace room. Our waitress was excellent and attentive to our table while managing a large party next to us. The food was delicious and piping hot when brought to our table. The special was halibut with asparagus and couscous(delicious), the pork tenderloin with tart cherry sauce(fabulous) and the goat cheese and beet ravioli(tasty treat). One dessert for three people was the perfect ending."

  • "When we walked into Preservation Kitchen we thought, "oh no, this is noisy and crowded!" But then we were escorted back to the dining room (we'd seen the bar and "roadhouse") which was very pleasant and a lot quieter. Our food was very good, but the service was lackluster and the timing from the kitchen pretty bad. We waited over 30 minutes were appetizers and another 30 from end of appetizers to main course, and the dining room wasn't even near full. Perhaps the demands of the roadhouse make it difficult to service a quiet elegant dining room well. If that's true, that's too bad."

  • "We met for a couples dinner with friends. Inside the restaurant was a little too warm to enjoy a hot dinner- there seems to be no AC or it wasn't turned on. We ordered the mussels and they were amazing. We also greatly enjoyed our cheese plate and the mushroom risotto. Unfortunately, we felt the braised short ribs were inedible. They were greasy and too sweet. The kitchen easily replaced the food. Drinks were delicious. Overall, I just expected a little more. We felt the food was under salted. If we would have sat outside or at the bar maybe we would have enjoyed ourselves more. "

  • "We always enjoy our special meals out at Preservation Kitchen. I had a broken ankle and was using a walker, and they made sure to seat me in a quiet area with plenty of room to maneuver. They were very solicitous of my condition. We had a lovely brunch with cocktails, and the food and service were excellent. I also enjoy the fact that the restaurant is in a gracious old home, which of course makes it "homey". Yes, "thumbs up"."

  • "I've been here a few times and although the converted old home is a nice venue, we feel the food is not quite worth the prices. Went back for a special Mother's Day menu dinner. $55 Prix fixe 4 course Again the food was just OK, some things not cooked enough. The bill for 4 was over $300 after tip. Probably should have made the drive to Bellevue or Seattle."

  • "My husband and I ate here for brunch on Saturday. We had a lovely table next to the fireplace. The menu was full of good choices at reasonable prices. We really enjoyed every bite of our food and my husband sampled one of the many beers on tap. We liked it so much that we returned for brunch the next day!   • "I had heard about this place and had been wanting to try it. So I had a friend in from out of town for Easter, so decided to do their Easter brunch. The menu was excellent, lots of yummy choices... We had reservations and seating was immediate, and service was excellent. The food was great and prepared in a very timely fashion. Can't speak to the wine list as we weren't drinking but it looked okay... Overall an excellent option for dining."

  • "My friend and I went here for Seattle Restaurant week, and neither of us will go back. It started out with my cocktail coming out, curdled. And that should have been my first clue. Our appetizers were tasty, but not what the menu claimed they were going to be. Then our Beef Burgundy, which is fancy beef stew, was poorly executed. The meat was chewy and some of the vegetables were mushy, while others were overcooked. Then for dessert, we had the panna cotta and lemon souffle. They were presented well, but that is really the only positive I could write about. Sadly, neither of us will go back to what appear to be a very quaint and cute place. Oh, and we really only saw our waitress when the bill was ready."

  • "I visited Preservation Kitchen during restaurant week and was disappointed. The portions were very small so paying $28 didn't feel like a "promotion". I wasn't willing to load up on the two large pieces of bread and plate full of noodles so the few tiny bits of beef and carrots that topped the mound of pasta had to suffice for my dinner....so I went home hungry. Oh, and the starter plate was two figs....that's not a typo, two one-inch figs with a kernel of gorganzola cheese, and they weren't that tasty either. Loading up on the cheap ingredients like bread and pasta in a restaurant I've heard so much about sealed my decision to never return. Overall the portions were more suited for a small child (except the mountain of pasta). "

  • "So, went for a Friday night date night. Had saved it as one of those, ok next time places. Very glad that we went. My girlfriend is the foodie...not me. But, she repeatedly has said, that was a very good restaurant. We ordered the artichoke & feta cakes for an appetizer. Really great sauce & tasty start. She ordered the wild boar ragout, and I ordered the duck with cherry chutney. Our hostess was great, upbeat, and helpful. My duck arrived, was really good, and that cherry chutney that sealed the deal for me...flipping divine. The taste I had of the ragout was spicy, but not hot find me a water glass spicy. Rather savory spicy. A signature dish and you can quickly taste why."

  • "Hard to pass up this deal at Pres Kitchen, so a friend and I have just done it for the 3rd time in a row. Never disappointed. I couldn't decide between the polenta tots and the dark green Caesar, so I chose the Caesar and ordered a side of tots. EXCellent choice. Took most of the tots home, as expected, and they were most welcome. It didn't seem as if there were as much variety in the entrees this time as there often is - the paella and the wild boar ragout *looked* an awful lot alike, although both tasted good. The one thing I'd really wish for is a broader choice of desserts - ice cream, sorbet, or take-home-cookie. I'd prefer a simple fruit tart or chocolate... something, as a stay-there choice. But that won't keep me away next time!"

  • "Free corkage for the first bottle from Woodinville. I love that they support our local wine industry. The food is fantastic, and this is probably my forth or fifth visit. I have always loved their duck dishes, whether it's sous vide or not, the meat always fell out of the bone and cooked beautifully. The seasoning is right, never overwhelming. They occasionally have some interesting dishes as well (varying by season) like boar meat pasta etc. Highly recommended."

  • "It's clearly evident that everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend the short ribs which are the best I've ever had. They have some original dishes that fill the need for when your looking for something "different" and wonderful tasting. The setting is in an old but beautifully preserved historic home. The only thing that detracts from the ambiance is the cheesy lights on the ceiling that look out of place and appear to be from a Bed Bath and Beyond clearance sale. What makes matters worse is that even though the entire facility is clean and manicured, those lights fixture are loaded with dead bugs that show though the opaque plastic panels. But seriously, this is the best food in Bothell."

  • "My husband and I had been wanting to go to Preservation Kitchen for some time. We were glad we did. We are trying to eat better and Preservation Kitchen uses mostly foods such as fish from sustainable sources, grass fed beef and meats with no antibiotics and hormones. The flavor was delicious and the vegetables were lightly cooked and vibrantly colored. We had a quiet window seat overlooking a courtyard of twinkling lights. I can't wait to go back to sit outside on a warm summer evening. The restaurant is in a historic house that used to be the mayor's home. The tables are in various rooms so it would be easy to ask for privacy if you did not want to sit in the main dining area. Overall this was a great experience."
