Our reservation was early (5:30) so we were the first in the outer dining room next to the fireplace and had the room to ourselves initially. It was so lovely that I booked another reservation to come back with my boyfriend. The service was very good, food delicious and the menu never boring. My only suggestion would be for some soft background music for the time before the room fills up. For about 10 minutes it was just my table and the one next to us and I felt I had to nearly whisper to not push our conversation on them. Once the room was more filled it up this wasn't an issue at all. This is one of my favorite restaurants for excellent food and great atmosphere, you can feel like you're doing a special occasion and still have options on spending a lot or not breaking the bank.

I took my niece and her husband for a special wedding dinner celebration, and it couldn't have been better. The food was excellent, creative, graciously served with the best staff service I have had in about 30 years. Restaurant service has steadily gone downhill over the years, and this was the way it should be. We were barely aware that anyone was there except that our food magically appeared, plates were cleared, wine glasses filled, all with absolutely no interruptions to our conversation and with perfect timing. We had a leisurely and wonderful dining experience all the way around. I will be back and I would recommend Preservation Kitchen to anyone.

I expected quiet ambiance, good food and service. It was extremely loud, the food so so and service poor. The waiter actually dripped wine on our dinner plates and table and made no move to correct the mess. The best to say is that the valet service was very good.

The service was excellent. I had the pork w/greens salad which was absolutely wonderful. I would come back just to get a dinner size portion of this salad! Instead I had that as a starter and ordered the Filet Mignon which was also sublime. They put a nice seasoned butter on top and a dark gravy around the edge of the plate. They were both good but the flavor of the steak by itself was so good it didn't even need the extra. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were also very good. My next trip will be to try the breakfast which looks equally delicious!

We looked forward to going to Preservation Kitchen for our anniversary. The service was excellent and the ambiance was very nice. For an appetizer we ordered the brussels sprouts with goat cheese pana cotta and it was excellent. Although our entrees were cooked perfectly (we had steak and seafood), it was very bland. My filet was very tender and cooked to perfection but there was no flavor to it at all. My husband experienced the same issues with his paella. Unfortunately, we can't recommend this restaurant, especially for the price.

I came during "Dine Around Seattle" with a co-worker and since i work in Bothell was glad to see Preservation Kitchen was a short drive away. I ordered from the 3-course menu: Polenta Tots, Meatloaf with house chips and Truffles To-Go. The polenta tots were hot and delicious, the meatloaf was juicy and flavorful and paired well with the chips. I was also glad to take the truffles to-go after a pleasant lunch. I could have done without the peanuts on the truffles but the salt added a nice balance to the rich, chocolate of the truffle. The restaurant itself is a beautiful house converted into a restaurant and I really liked the old architecture with lots of natural light, wooden floors and comforting atmosphere. I'm looking forward to trying their dinner menu!

Had an early Sunday breakfast at Preservation Kitchen last weekend. I had a reservation but it was pretty empty at 9:30 AM. Started with a bloody mary, which was great. Service was slow and not as attentive as I would have liked, we were ready to order drinks 10 minutes before anyone came. I had the greek omelet (special) and potatoes. Asked for potatoes extra crispy, and they came just slightly browned. Would have sent them back but didn't have time. Omelet was nothing particularly special. Overall, it was fine, but based on the reputation I was expecting much more.

How do you characterize a place that combines an alehouse side with a fine dining side. Preservation Kitchen is a really nice hybrid. Even the restaurant side combines the warmth, intimacy, and menu of a fine restaurant with a pleasant local neighborhood feel. The menu selections in the restaurant are excellent, the food very good, the service attentive, and the ambience very pleasant. Definitely a place to return to.

Preservation Kitchen remains one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle, and def favorite close to home (Mukilteo). Delicious locally sourced ingredients, local beers, a beautiful old house, and friendly, attentive service. Caramelized short ribs were amazing, as was duck and grits. Salads are also consistently much more than a side dish.

Intriguing physical layout ( Old house very extensively remodeled). with an old English atmosphere. Menu was put together a little differently, giving several choices for starters, several choices for entrees and the same for deserts. That allows a picky eater to graze nicely. Service was restrained and smooth with a very helpful knowledge of each items ingredients and preparation. Noise level was a little high for me but I have a hearing disability and so am a poor judge. The hardest part of an occation here is finding the place. Easy if you are from the area as it is next door to the Yakima fruit stand,

It was a "Thank you" dinner for a fellow foodie. It just happened that we stumbled upon the Seattle Restaurant Week menu (3 courses for $30), that was the best surprise. I brought a DeLille Lot 2 Cab (Club Member only) and it was opened without corkage, it is their policy for wines from Woodinville. First bottle is corkage free. Everything we ordered was delicious (and generously sized), the cocktails were suitably strong, and we broke the bank a bit but it was worth it. Definitely recommend the steamed mussels (seriously the best my husband and I have ever had--we credit the creamy sauce) and the Pork & Blue salad, and the remainder of the duck and grits made for a fantastic lunch of leftovers the next day. Great selection of desserts, too. We picked a 5:30 reservation to get home in time for baby's bedtime so the dining room was still very quiet, but I hope this place gets enough business to stay open for a long, long time. We'll be back!

Having heard good things, we drove out from Seattle and were not disappointed. The setting is inviting and serene. Tables are set far enough apart to diminish noise, and we were grateful that a screaming child was seated in a separate room from most diners. Both the pork & blue salad and my entree of duck breast & grits were delicious and well-presented. Others in my party ordered the black cod, the pork tenderloin, and the vegetable risotto, and voiced nothing but compliments. Portions were large enough for a hearty appetite. Service was attentive without being intrusive or too chatty. We will definitely return.

The bar area at the entrance are old fashioned so I was concerned. We were directed to another area and it was a nicer feel, but don't expect a sleek or current feel.In a group of four, the pork salad seemed popular as did the grilled romaine.I had the artichoke and feta cakes and they were very good.Main meals were filet mignon, ribs, and a wild boar ragu. The ribs were great but the potatoes were average.I enjoyed the wild boar pasta but wish it had a little less spice to it, but I'd still order it again. The desserts are terrific, a chocolate mousse cake that was excellent and the pots de crème that were a hit with the guys. Our server said they are searching for a better chardonnay but that should be easy to find.Need better wine selection

I liked being able to make a reservation online. When I got there the staff was very friendly and I was seated right away. The drink selections were great with local beer and wines. I had the caramilized ribs that were cooked perfectly. Only thing I would note is a balance to the sweetness would have been appreciated. The sauces went well with the more savory aspects of the dish. Very happy overall.

We chose Preservation Kitchen as a venue to meet an old friend who we had not seen for over two years. It was a perfect place for our long conversation over an excellent dinner. This place is situated in what used to be the estate of the city mayor. The current owner has operated this restaurant for about six years, and it gets consistently good reviews. We enjoyed their Wild Boar Ragu (excellent, with just enough spice, and plenty of vegetables over perfectly cooked pasta), and a vegetarian risotto. The wine list, though not extensive, provided good choices for pairing with the menu. Our only glitch was with the very limited parking available, though free valet parking was offered. We will be returning to Preservation Kitchen!

The food was very good, had to wait a bit for the front patio but it was a beautiful day and no one was in a rush to leave and open up a table. A compliment to the restaurant if annoying to those waiting :) My dish was delicious (ravioli) and my dates was a well (the Wild Boar Ragu, to be honest I preferred hers, but that I believe was more of a matter of personal taste then a comment on the dish itself). A few noisy children but nothing that would ever stop me from going again...it was just the borderline between "family noise" and annoying and even then just for bit.
