Preservation Kitchen preserves the traditions of regional cuisine and drink. The Northwest seasonal menu supports local producers, and uses sustainable, organic ingredients when possible to create the perfect “fine dining comfort food.” Pair your food with a drink from the extensive book of Wines & Libations to complete your meal.

Preservation Kitchen offers the elegance, warmth, and comfort of celebrating any occasion with the ease of feeling at home with family and friends, but without you doing any of the work. The restored historic 1916 Kaysner Estate was formerly home to Bothell's mayor and is located in a woodsy naturalistic setting. During the summer the outside patio is a relaxing area to grab a cocktail for the daily Happy Hour while enjoying the sprawling grounds.

  • "My friend and I went here for Seattle Restaurant week, and neither of us will go back. It started out with my cocktail coming out, curdled. And that should have been my first clue. Our appetizers were tasty, but not what the menu claimed they were going to be. Then our Beef Burgundy, which is fancy beef stew, was poorly executed. The meat was chewy and some of the vegetables were mushy, while others were overcooked. Then for dessert, we had the panna cotta and lemon souffle. They were presented well, but that is really the only positive I could write about. Sadly, neither of us will go back to what appear to be a very quaint and cute place. Oh, and we really only saw our waitress when the bill was ready."

  • "I visited Preservation Kitchen during restaurant week and was disappointed. The portions were very small so paying $28 didn't feel like a "promotion". I wasn't willing to load up on the two large pieces of bread and plate full of noodles so the few tiny bits of beef and carrots that topped the mound of pasta had to suffice for my dinner....so I went home hungry. Oh, and the starter plate was two figs....that's not a typo, two one-inch figs with a kernel of gorganzola cheese, and they weren't that tasty either. Loading up on the cheap ingredients like bread and pasta in a restaurant I've heard so much about sealed my decision to never return. Overall the portions were more suited for a small child (except the mountain of pasta). "

  • "So, went for a Friday night date night. Had saved it as one of those, ok next time places. Very glad that we went. My girlfriend is the foodie...not me. But, she repeatedly has said, that was a very good restaurant. We ordered the artichoke & feta cakes for an appetizer. Really great sauce & tasty start. She ordered the wild boar ragout, and I ordered the duck with cherry chutney. Our hostess was great, upbeat, and helpful. My duck arrived, was really good, and that cherry chutney that sealed the deal for me...flipping divine. The taste I had of the ragout was spicy, but not hot find me a water glass spicy. Rather savory spicy. A signature dish and you can quickly taste why."

  • "Hard to pass up this deal at Pres Kitchen, so a friend and I have just done it for the 3rd time in a row. Never disappointed. I couldn't decide between the polenta tots and the dark green Caesar, so I chose the Caesar and ordered a side of tots. EXCellent choice. Took most of the tots home, as expected, and they were most welcome. It didn't seem as if there were as much variety in the entrees this time as there often is - the paella and the wild boar ragout *looked* an awful lot alike, although both tasted good. The one thing I'd really wish for is a broader choice of desserts - ice cream, sorbet, or take-home-cookie. I'd prefer a simple fruit tart or chocolate... something, as a stay-there choice. But that won't keep me away next time!"

  • "Free corkage for the first bottle from Woodinville. I love that they support our local wine industry. The food is fantastic, and this is probably my forth or fifth visit. I have always loved their duck dishes, whether it's sous vide or not, the meat always fell out of the bone and cooked beautifully. The seasoning is right, never overwhelming. They occasionally have some interesting dishes as well (varying by season) like boar meat pasta etc. Highly recommended."

Excellent wait staff, pleasant, knowledgable. Our dinner choices stirred our curiosity to explore. We chose the 3 for $30 special. Pleased to the last bite!!! We highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "It's clearly evident that everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend the short ribs which are the best I've ever had. They have some original dishes that fill the need for when your looking for something "different" and wonderful tasting. The setting is in an old but beautifully preserved historic home. The only thing that detracts from the ambiance is the cheesy lights on the ceiling that look out of place and appear to be from a Bed Bath and Beyond clearance sale. What makes matters worse is that even though the entire facility is clean and manicured, those lights fixture are loaded with dead bugs that show though the opaque plastic panels. But seriously, this is the best food in Bothell."

  • "My husband and I had been wanting to go to Preservation Kitchen for some time. We were glad we did. We are trying to eat better and Preservation Kitchen uses mostly foods such as fish from sustainable sources, grass fed beef and meats with no antibiotics and hormones. The flavor was delicious and the vegetables were lightly cooked and vibrantly colored. We had a quiet window seat overlooking a courtyard of twinkling lights. I can't wait to go back to sit outside on a warm summer evening. The restaurant is in a historic house that used to be the mayor's home. The tables are in various rooms so it would be easy to ask for privacy if you did not want to sit in the main dining area. Overall this was a great experience."

  • "The promotional Dine Around Seattle was underway, so we decided to try someplace new. I ordered off the promotional menu and my partner ordered off the regular menu. My wild boar ragu was unpalatable. The noodles were raw, as in never touched boiling water. I thought they were cheese, they were so gooey! The ragu was dried to a crunch around the edges. It had to have been made a week earlier or sitting under a heat lamp for hours. My partner's order was not received in the kitchen correctly, so had to wait for some time before she was served. Overall, a bad experience. I won't be back."

  • "Our first time at Preservation Kitchen was a good one. The vegetarian option was toothsome. The setting in the dining room was quite nice; however, we were surprised/annoyed that a couple brought along their newly-born. Fortunately the baby was quiet... but really! In a restaurant with $20 entrees (lower range), let's keep it adults only.... OK???? We will probably return for special occasions (it's pricey!)... but if there are babies/children in the restaurant... that'll be our last time. Very good kitchen.... tasty food."

  • "I came here on a whim to meet a friend for brunch. I had checked out the menu online and thought the selection seemed impressive. When I first walked in and waited to be seated, four servers walked by and didnt bother to see if I had been helped. Older gentleman (owner?) came from the back and finally acknowledged me, but only to tell me someone would be with me shortly. At this point I realized my reservations carried no weight here. Our server was unattentive and even mixed up our receipt with another table's. I do not plan on returning... ever."

  • "What a wonderful atmosphere - it was like being in someone's beautiful old house We had the artichoke feta cakes as an appetizer - those were marvelous, and I had a dark green ceasar and my partner had the spinach beet salad - both were absolutely perfect (loved the cinnamon walnuts in the spinach salad!). I think the only things I would have made different were the risotto - a bit dry, and the caramelized short ribs - a bit too sweet. I had a peach whiskey drink and he had a house infused orange vodka and limoncello drink - delish. My partner's birthday and since we don't eat sweets, they brought him out a small cocktail with a candle - very thoughtful! The server also helped guide us through the menu with our dietary restrictions."

  • "The service or lack there of was TERRIBLE! I wish the food had been better, we might have wanted to go back for another chance. We had reservations but once seated we were totally ignored. When our waiter did come we had asked him to seperate the checks. There were 2 couples so this shouldn't have been a problem. But no, this didn't happen. I just am so disappointed about the whole experience. I will not come back here...."

  • "I planned a special Valentine's dinner for me and my husband a month in advance. I chose Preservation Kitchen over other fine dining restaurants because they had a dedicated gluten free menu, and we had just moved to Mill Creek (not far from the Kitchen's location in Bothell). Less than a week before our Valentine's day dinner, I got a call from the Kitchen confirming our reservation. I verified they received all of the notes from OpenTable about our allergies to gluten and alcohol aversions. When we arrived, no one seemed prepared for our allergies, The hostess scrambled to find us sober alternatives to champagne while we waited 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated and it was all downhill from there. I wish the food was worth $170."

  • "This is the second time I have gone there for lunch. Both times the service was slower than any other dining experience I have ever had. The waiter was inattentive and failed to bring a requested beverage until reminded. After that the only beverages refilled was water. Beverages are overpriced - $3 for a glass of iced tea...really?!?!?!? I will not go there again."

  • "Overall I was somewhat disappointed in the venue for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. They had re-arranged the pub area for additional seating, and it felt like sitting in the garage vs. in the house. I realize this was to accommodate demand, but nonetheless it wasn't what I expected. The food was good; the soup and salad was OK, the main course was excellent and the desert was as well. The Sazerac cocktail wasn't quite right but OK. Overall, the food was good, the service was excellent and the venue was better suited for a quick beer vs. a romantic dinner - but we'll be back to explore the pub food and brunch menus. Although closed at this time of year, the outdoor seating area looks fantastic."

  • "We made an error in reading the online menu, we misread the dinner menu for the lunch menu. We made online reservations, arrived for our 1:00 reservation to see a menu containing Pub Food. But, what we enjoyed would be Excellant! Awesome Service, Fantastic Food and the Pear Ginger Martini was Crazy Good. I highly recommend starting with the appetizer menu and working your way through the rest...the Mussels (some of the best you will ever try), Polenta Bites, Bread with Garlic/olives/cheese are all must do's. Did I mention we only made it through the appetizers! We will definitely return, as well as recommend to friends and family. I look forward to seeing what the dinner menu brings too!!"

  • "My husband brought me here for my birthday last year and this year, and both times were great fun. The food was absolutely heavenly - the Brussels sprouts with white balsamic vinegar and the savory panna cotta were to die for, and the seared chicken was super good. I think the best part of the evening was dessert; my husband had the blood orange sorbet (lovely!) and I had the salted caramel ganache (pure heaven). <3 Food aside the service was great, and I'm really looking forward to going back!"

Stay was welcoming and pleasant, Food had good flavor with some unique features, with special menu for Vegetarians like me (a treat rarely found).   • "We tried the Preservation Kitchen recently on a Sunday night. The locavore menu and outstanding Washington wine list were exactly what we were looking for. The setting in a venerable craftsman off of Bothell Way was charming despite it's slightly industrial neighborhood. Brick paths lined with plantings, rocks and lights was welcoming. Our servers were excellent, friendly and accommodating. There were too many mouth watering choices, but each one we tried we loved including mussels in a garlic cream sauce (with crusty bread for dipping!), roasted brussels sprouts with goat cheese panna cotta on a lovely swirl of balsamic, and the pork belly and blue cheese salad with crisp sliced apples. The entrees, desserts and wine list also A+!"

  • "Located in what obviously was once a stately home up the hill from the now busy Bothell Way, this place is worth the short walk up the hill from their parking lot. We were seated next to one of the fireplaces in the house. Enjoyed a nice selection of cheeses before settling into our main course.   • "We had dinner for the second time at Preservation Kitchen on Saturday night. It was just as good as the first time. The brussel sprout and goat cheese app was surprisingly tasty. All four of our dinner entrees were generous but not overly huge loaded with all the right ingredients - Short ribs, Red Snapper and Cioppino. I'm excited to learn on the Saturday breakfast where kids eat for $2. I will go back to try that soon. Looking forward to Summer when we can try the patio while our kids play in the outdoor play area."

  • "Heard good things about this place, and saw it on Yelp. Finally agreed to meet a girlfriend who had never gone there either. Restaraunt was a bit tucked away/ Near Yakima fruit stand..we both missed the turn. Place was quiet, nice fire going, and mimosas. Had the duck sandwich, meatloaf entree, and mussels to share. Food was richer than we thought (Mussels have a cream sauce) but everything was very very good. Waiter was attentive and polite and we had a great kid-free, mommy get together. Want to go back and try out the ragu(?) my friend raved about..."
