Don't sleep on Prep Kitchen. While Ironside seems to be getting all the attention Prep Kitchen still has been food for similar prices. Plus the upstairs seating provides for better views of Little Italy. Still get the "foodie" experience but without the attitude. Service was excellent and the food is always good with a menu that is constantly rotating.

I like the food, ambience is great and the view can't be beat overlooking india street. The hostess staff and most of service staff are very friendly and welcoming.. some of the servers/bar tenders have a bit of an attitude, not necessary.

We had family in town for Comic Con and wanted to find something not too far from Downtown but not in the middle of the craziness. Prepkitchen Little Italy was a delicious option. Each item ordered was enjoyed. A pitcher of Sangria was shared. The ambiance is contemporary and charming.

Best darn tuna melt I have had in my entire life. I am not exaggerating. My date and I split our dishes and I also had the meatloaf sandwich. The meatloaf sandwich was terrific, but we both agreed that the tuna was amazing. Good microbrew selection. The hostess did an excellent job and was friendly and checked in our our table periodically which helped to make up for the fact that our server wasn't exactly charismatic, nor the best.

My business dinner was handled expertly by the wait staff and the kitchen prepared up some delicious dishes. We were seated promptly, our waitress was backed up by hosts, hostess and buss boys superbly. Drinks were prompt, appetizers were given plenty of time to leisurely consume without the feeling of being rushed. The homemade charcuterie was full of delightful tastes and textures. Dinner only came out after we were ready to eat (not forced out because it was ready). The Yellowfin fish special was delicious and cooked to perfection as was the flat-iron steak. Short ribs melted. Overall the experience and restaurant was appreciated both by myself and my dinner guests. Kudos overall

This is an amazing gem of a restaurant here in Little Italy. Menu offers a variety of different choices from seafood, pastas, meat, and salads. Its well rounded out with a selection of small plates for sharing or larger entrees if you have a larger appetite. Being located on the 2nd floor of a corner building in the heart of Little Italy offers great views!

Prepkitchen Little Italy is a restaurant others should look up to. Aside from the apparently ever-changing menu with well-conceived dishes prepared to perfection, their level of customer service it a cut above the rest. You don't see this high level of service anymore; their attention to detail, friendliness, providing additional dishes on the house as a "welcome" dish and as an apology for the main course taking longer than they would like. Suffice it to say we were well taken care of, and left happy and impressed. Well done, Prepkitchen. Well done, indeed.

.. But based on all the recommendations I received, chose Prep Kitchen for a dinner out with friends.. And what a great choice it was! We were lucky enough to get there before 6:30pm so not only did we get the advantage of the meters ending their tolls, but we got in on the early prix-fit for $35 of appetizer, entree & dessert. The tempura beans & stuffed dates wrapped in bacon rocked. All the food choices were great, along w/ the sangria.. The chocolate dessert w/Carmel salted gelato was a great ending.. And SUPERB service. I would definitely eat here again.

The farm to table food was well prepared. The steak was tender & flavorful, beet salad with avocado was excellent and bacon wrapped dates yummy. No problem finding something on the menu or cocktail list you'll enjoy The service was marginal for a place like this. The bartender was efficient but distracted talking to his regulars. While the conversation was entertaining, it wasn't professional. Forks on the table had food on them and needed to be returned. The sever forgot a drink order and then never to come check on us after the food was delivered. The hostesses were very efficient so that was a plus. Maybe we just had a bad night but I'd expect more on a Saturday @ 8 pm. It's worth a try as the food was very good.

I come here often because the food is that good. And every once in a while I want a scotch with dinner. On more than one occasion I've had a 'friendly' talk with the bartender who metes out liquor like it's liquid gold. A normal pour should give you a satisfying amount of time to sip and savor. But these measly portions (at $18 each) are infuriating. Here's some math: Wine carries a 2x markup. But at $18, Prep Kitchen scotch carries a 4x markup. Stop insulting me.

Great food and good service. Our server (wish I could remember her name) was so charming and helpful that we wished we could have had her dine with us. I clumsily spilled my wine and she, along with three others, literally leaped to our assistance. She even brought us a little carafe to replace the spilled portion! Nice location, we'll be back for sure.

Another fabulous meal at PKLI. Starters of sushi, tartar and cheese board followed by bolognaise, short ribs and pork special. The short ribs probably my fav. Salted Carmel ice cream and gooey chocolate cake for sharing with a cheeky wee port to finish off..amazingly fabulous. Service was top notch, in my top 3 favorite places in San Diego.

Great place to celebrate college graduation and Father's Day. Intimate. Great food. The appetizers were the stars of the evening. Loved the bacon wrapped dates. I decided to pick this place to join a few of my girlfriends for a quick birthday happy hour and dinner at a new spot that we never been to. Let me go on record to say this was the best idea I came up with. We decided to get one of everything on the happy hour appetizer menu and we were not disappointed. Our waitress Natalie was extremely knowledgable and helpful the entire night. Letting us know how amazing the food was and made the experience more than we imagined. The pork belly appetizer was out of this world. And the patatas bravas I could eat all day everyday ! Don't lose your touch. This place is going to be around for a long time. Thank you Natalie for such great service and the food - we top our hats off to the chefs.

My girlfriend and I ate here after strolling through the Saturday Farmer's Market in Little Italy and our experience was perfect. Our server was engaging, passionate and extra friendly. I chose the Mussels and my girlfriend went with the salmon eggs benedict from the brunch menu and they were both spot-on. Our server told us about other great things to do in San Diego (we live in New Orleans) and even brought us a free brownie and ice cream desert. We spent four days and four nights in San Diego with eating and drinking as the emphasis of our trip and Prepkitchen ranks among the top of every restaurant we visited, even the much pricier ones. This place is simple yet amazing. It should definitely be on your list of places to go!

The server (waitress) was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. When we couldn't decide between two dishes, she actually treated us to an appetizer version of the one we didn't choose so we'd know if we'd like it another time. That really impressed us! She also brought a taste of one wine to help make a decision. The bar looked like a good scene for the younger crowd, although we made an effort to sit as far from the noise of the music as possible. We were able to be far enough to easily have a conversation while eating. Definitely recommend this delightful spot.
