Prato - Winter ParkI will never understand whyI will never understand why they removed the meat ball hoagie fro the lunch menu. It was, according to the wait staff, the #1 seller at lunch. The swordfish app was very good but the others, like olives are rather boring. They also had a great pork sandwich, also removed. Salted caramel gelato, gone. oh well6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliciousThis was my 1st time to Prato; I would definitely go again. Here are the reasons why: good service and great food. The waiter was helpful, nice, and informative. The food was very good. I had the beef carpaccio as a appetizer and my sister had the squash blossoms. Both dishes were well put together and had multiple layers of flavor. I started the night off with one of their cocktails, the Italian citrus, a very good drink. Then for the main courses i had a homemade shrimp ravioli and a veal dish. Both were very tasty, but I think the shrimp ravioli was my favorite. I think I would a pasta dish again when I go. My sister had the sweet potato gnocchi, very, very good. And to finish the night off I had a chocolate panna cotta.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAttitude in Winter ParkLike most restaurants that are the 'new thing' in town, Prato has a bit of an attitude - but admittedly they are the hot spot in town and until they are knocked from that spot - the 'tude' will likely continue. Fairly, the service was very good and the food tasty. While i didn't like the mussel's (blah) my wife did. All other items, including wine was very good and hence deserved the rating!
Despite being a special occasion, I felt little interest in trying to help accommodate us (ie; Reservations are on the top and bottom of the hour - none at :15 or :45) as this was a part of an evening celebration which included a Boat Tour. Would have been nice to offer a bit of recognition and congratulations upon arrival.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWinter Park at its bestI love Prato. The pizzas are delicious. I always get the meatballs but this time they were way too salty.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Pizza and PastaGreat food overall but the Pasta was divine and the Pizza the best outside of Manhattan.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb pizzaWe had the grilled mushroom pizza and it was simply awesome. Crust was light as a feather. The pretzel dusted calamari was excellent as well.
The experience would have been more enjoyable if we were not seated next to 2 middle-aged gentlemen who were fixated on impressing 2 young women seated at the bar in a very loud, profanity laden manner over and over over ... that sort of takes away from the really excellent food. The noise level is a bit excessive due to the high ceilings, I think I would definitely suggest sitting outside if one actually wishes to hear what the person you are sitting with is saying.
The waiter we had was superb as well, attentive, but not overly so, who timed the appetizer and entree arrivals beautifully.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally found great italian in FLFlorida has a dearth of good Mediterranean food, especially Italian. The pizza was awesome, probably the best on the east coast outside of NYC. Winter Park is a bit out of the way and parking is an absolute bear ... only downside.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWas very pleased that theyWas very pleased that they made it somehow special because we have booked the table to celebrate birthday. We got a free desert with a nice candle - like it5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always great, I loveFood is always great, I love the ever changing menu, as well as some old favorites like beef carpaccio and the widowmaker/farm egg pizza.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Food in OrlandoHaving eaten at most of the fine dining restaurants in Orlando, Prato is the one that keeps me coming back. I am always excited to see what new creation is on their menu today. They consistently have the best and most creative food.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways wondered why it was so busyGreat dining experience! Had Meatballs for appetizer which was an explosion of flavor! I couldn't stop eating my friends pasta and bolognese sauce. I wasn't crazy about the shrimp ravioli but my friend loved it. Terrific taramasu for desert. Our server was outstanding with great energy. Many very attractive servers (guys and girls), if that matters to you. The decor was fun and perfect for the rustic Italian look- loved the wall of plants! I also loved the cute plaid shirts they wore to help top off the atmosphere. Next time I go, I may just try several of the pasta samplers - we accidentally was sent a sampler and it was about 40 to 50% of the regular meal. Three or four of these to share with someone else would be a fun meal!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPrato was voted the best ItalianPrato was voted the best Italian in Orlando by Zagat for a reason. But don't expect boring, plain Italian flare. If you are a connoisseur of Italian food, you'll love this place. If you don't like Italian food, you'll love this place as well. Great Craft beer selection. Wait staff is very knowledgeable regarding their ever evolving menu.
This place is my favorite on Park Ave and I always come here with clients or when friends are in town.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Italian done right. Can't speak highly enough of Prato's good. Their homemade pastas are to die for. The half portions are a real gem, allowing you and your party to sample multiple dishes without blowing your budget or your stomach. If you save room, tiramisu from the gods is the way to go.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMawesome first datemet here for a first date , went smooth. Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly will revisit!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Italian!Definitely the best italian food in central Florida.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible! From start to finish, our meal at Prato was unbelievable. From the stuffed squash blossoms, to the Widowmaker pizza, to the handmade pasta dishes, plus the awesome cocktails and wine....we left absolutely 100% satisfied. I know we will be back to Prato when we return to the area....hopefully sooner than later!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time here onWe had a great time here on Mother's Day. I wish there were a couple of more items fit for a 7 year old, but we made do with the pizza. My beet appetizer was out of this world and my husbands Funghi pizza was delicious. We'll definitely be back again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThey stop serving full menuThey stop serving full menu at 3pm. I think they should advise this when making reservation.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother awesome visit. AllAnother awesome visit. All I have to say is ... squash blossom. YUM. Everything was perfectly on target and every single person at our table was pleased. Beef, Pork, Fish and Pasta were all covered and each one delivered! Keep up the good work, folks.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSeriously. Just Go Here.If you have not been to Prato, stop reading and just make a reservation. Enough said. FUN. Amazing Food. Only thing... romantic quiet evening alone? Not here.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMeatballs.I love this place! It's one of my favorites for out-of-town guests. The meatballs are so fantastic that we typically get two orders. I haven't had any dish that I didn't love.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMInventive, delicious variationsInventive, delicious variations on standard high-end Italian fare. Lots of local ingredients. Definitely worth a visit.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to return!Perfect service, squash blossoms were delicious, shrimp ravioli is the best I've ever had!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous Winter Park restaurantGorgeous Winter Park restaurant with a casual but sophisticated ambience, large bar area. Italian, but highly original menu. We split the "widow maker" pizza and three apps- less than $25 per person with some pizza left over. I don't often rave about a meatball appetizer, but the flavor and texture were memorable. Just a super place, and very reasonably priced. So worth a 40 minute drive to escape Disney hotel options.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best of Winter ParkI've never had a bad meal at Prato. The drinks are interesting, and the food highlights seasonal ingredients. One of my favorites on the menu is the shrimp ravioli. So fresh and amazing!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were seated at a tableWe were seated at a table where the sun was in our eyes. Very distracting. Also, had to ask several times for ice for our water. The food was awesome. The steak was perfect as we're the salads.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHave only eaten lunch here.Have only eaten lunch here. The food is wonderful and different. My daughter and I were celebrating my parents ~~ my mother's birthday and the anniversary of my parents actual meeting, which was on my mother's birthday. Our waiter was kind enough to not only bring a dessert for my mother with a candle, but a dessert for my father with a candle as well!! And both were comped. Fun and energetic restaurant.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticAbsolutely fantastic. Definitely a place fit for foodies. A fantastic find that I will return to when I am back in Orlando.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favorite in WinterMy new favorite in Winter Park. Our server, Mira, was fastastic and went out of the way to make our experience perfect. Food was absolutely fantastic! Can't wait for next visit.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a slow self-drivenEnjoyed a slow self-driven tasting dinner. OUr server, while at first seemingly tring to speed us towards the next course, quickly adjusted to our service style and provided more "invisible" service. Yellow Tuna appitizer was INCREDIBLE as were the meatballs ( my regular pick) Veal Belly w/ fried egg was a tad too fatty but the gnocci was a great ending to our meal. Loved that they allowed us to decant our wine while we enjoyed a first round of cocktails. Overall, great food, but inform the server of how you plan to enjoy your meal so they can customize their service.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIndoors or outdoors, PratoIndoors or outdoors, Prato is enjoyable. Constantly changing menu with interesting spice twists.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA great first date!I have been to Prato a handful of times, always for lunch and it's always perfect. I have never had a bad experience with the staff and any inconvenses that might have arised from our orders have been handled by management before we even know the problem excited.
On this particular night my reservations at Prato were a little different I was on a first date and I wanted things to go smoothly so upon finding out my date liked Italian I entrusted the help of the staff to make the night special and it was. Our waitress was helpful but gave us our privacy, the resturant was busy but not hectic or loud and the food was amazing as always. We left extremely happy and he asked me on a second date so I must have done something right. Thanks Prato!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPrato Lunch at Easter.Food and service were great on a very busy afternoon...Easter Day. The way the place is shaped makes it very noisy, hard for intimate conversation. Will go back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting from Calgary,We were visiting from Calgary, AB Canada and found this restaurant in the Winter Park area on OpenTable. We booked it for Easter dinner and really enjoyed the very fresh food and unusual presentations and combinations. The service was excellent as well. We were welcomed with the statement "Welcome to your new favorite restaurant." We must agree - at least for the Orlando area. It was all very nice!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Park Ave locationCraft cocktails, wonderful Italian wine list, and great pizzas...something for everyone here3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWill return every time i'MWill return every time i'M in town. One of my favorite places to dine. Thanks for the suberb food and service.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentFood was amazing! Shrimp Ravioli is awesome! We went to celebrate my birthday and the four of us ate "family style". I didn't want to share that Shrimp Ravioli!!! Also had the Prato Meatballs (the dish comes with 3 meatballs, but they happily brought out 4 (with small up charge) so that we could all have one), Widowmaker pizza, Heirloom Tomato, Aleppo Campanelle "Del Mare", Tiramisu and Lemon Poppy Cake - All were A+
All in all, had a GREAT meal!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverytime I visit this restaurantEverytime I visit this restaurant I continue to be blown away. The food is incredible, and there is always something new and exciting to try! Our servers are always knowledgeable about the food and wine, and their service is always top notch. I've never had anything there I haven't thouroughly enjoyed.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentGreat food.. great atmosphere and Jessica S. is an amazing waitress.
Have gone back several times!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for out of town guestsOur server, Hannah, was fantastic. The food was spectacular. The only thing I didn't like was the polenta, which was served creamy style, when I prefer the cornbread-like texture version. Still, when I informed Hannah of this, she offered to take it off my bill (which I rejected of course, it was my mistake, not hers).
My friends loved it and it was their first time dining there. All in all, I will go back there again and again.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMambianceIt's a favorite and there is great ambiance. However, I had a gift card and they did not let me keep the balance that I had not used. They wanted me to buy dessert and we were celebrating our anniversary and had other plans to meet friends for dessert. I thought that was dumb.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
