Diner Reviews
  • "It was Friday night and very busy but I was pleased we were able to get in without a problem. Food was very well prepared and since we had been eating Mexican food most of the week, it was great to be able to have something different. Very new place and the waitstaff were very helpful in spite of the fact you could see they were really busy. Noise level was pretty high so I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a quiet evening meal."

  • "Need to clean up the menu and fix some of the errors. Wait staff need some educating. Spaghettini and spaghetti are not the same thing. Cavatelli are not gnocchi. Finally, and most funny; are they serving Turkish meatballs or turkey meatballs? The poor translation into Italian led me to think there are no Italians anywhere near that restaurant. But the food surprised me. Desserts were good too. My friend had a cannolo and loved it. I had the lemon sorbet which was excellent."

  • "We have been to Pranzos twice to eat. Both times have been very enjoyable. The restaurant itself is inviting, clean, and the service is excellent. The fried calamari was delicious. The linguine with sausage was to die for. Really enjoyed that. The shrimp pasta was fair, it lacked more flavor. The Malbec vino went really well with the pasta. Would most definitely have dinner at Pranzos again and recommend to family and friends."

  • "Like to come here when in SF. Nice menu, good food and great service at a good price"

  • "Pranzo is a good Italian restaurant. But the early bird special is great. Three courses -- salad, pasta, and ice cream all for $12.95 until 5:45pm. It works out well when you've got an early movie or concert to catch. The turkey meatballs and linguine in a potato/fennel puree was delicious. My partner had spicy sausage in a red sauce with pasta and he thought it, too was very good. Wines by the glass were half price and a real deal. Service was friendly and efficient. We've been before and we'll go again."

  • "The food was fabulous from the Cobia appetizer to the Oso Buco and Lamb shank. Only slightly disappointed in the bread pudding. Good waiter."

  • "Pranzo is on top of our eating out list. The service is great, the food superb and the overall experience leaves us with a happy tummies and huge smiles. We love everything about Pranzo and will continue to return and return. Keep up the fine work you all do for us diners."

  • "One of our favorite spores in Santa Fe. On a busy night like Valentines Day, they were extremely accommodating."

  • "We live in the railyard district and Pranzos has become our favorite restaurant! Normally we just call for a resi, but wanted to try plan B. It was as good as always. We bring our friends often especially to share the $12.95 early dining special. The happy hour prices are fabulous. We love it and hope it all continues with the new owners. Thanks again for a wonderful meal!"

  • "Excellent new chef....worth many more trips. A huge improvement over the old Pranzo. Now, if they'd just replace the seats in the booths!!!!!"

  • "Took a date there for 1st time experience (for me). She recommended the restaurant as one "she goes to for special occasions"...very romantic, quiet, and comfortable. Wait staff was extremely attentive without intruding. Food and wine were superb!"

  • "Great wine list did not change, great service did not change, great atmosphere did not change...so why change the menu? Food was not as good as in past visits. And how could you run out of Mango sorbet??? Our favorite dessert."

  • "As always, Pranzos was a very good restaurant at a reasonable price. The calamari was crisp, the Caesar perfect and the pasta was excellent. The service was a little slow, but we arrived just as they opened for lunch and maybe they were still getting set up. I think it is the best of the Italian restaurants in Santa Fe and it has survived the change in management quite well."

  • "Good food, good service, good ambience. Pix fixe menu is a terrific idea."

  • "We paid extra to sit upstairs in the piano bar - the room was too live and so the loud hammering of the keys was excruciating - also the piano player David Geist played for himself or exclusively for one table of obnoxious guests - encouraging them on instead of controlling these loud people and playing for the whole room."

  • "The food and service was exceptional. Portions were most appropriate and the presentation was awsome. We had a great dining experience."

  • "Pronzos has been our favorite restaurant for a year or two. It's food prices and drink prices are great for this town. We love the happy hour and local special for $12.95. I hope the new owner continues with these. We will continue to bring company and ourselves to our neighborhood osteria."

  • "We decided to dine at Pranzo for dinner on New Year's Day. We've been going to Pranzo since we moved to Santa Fe over 20 years ago. We were really disappointed with our meal for the first time ever. My spaghetti was way over cooked and my husband's Cioppino consisted primarily of rings of squid, one of the cheapest seafoods on the market, and a very mediocre broth. We probably won't go back which is sad to say as Pranzo was always one of our go to restaurants."

  • "We're local Santa Feans who have been going to Pranzo since it opened decades ago. Even though there have been many changes over time, we still love Pranzo in part because we know we'll have a good meal in a warm and pretty atmosphere with good service. We've also discovered some of our favorite wines by trying them at Pranzo. They have a good, reasonably priced wine list with plenty of variety. We were there on New Year's Eve with another couple and shared appetizers of antipasto platter and beef carpaccio. Both were excellent as were the pasta dishes, a chicken-thigh dish that is a house specialty and a chicken-liver special. Pranzo is (always has been) a tad noisy, but not horribly so. We'll keep going back."

  • "We had a delightful dinner with our friends from California. We were tired of the Mexican fair in town and decided to go Italian and we loved it. Food was delicious and not too large of portions. Wine was half price for bottles on Sunday!! Great deal so we had two bottles. The atmosphere was comfortable and warm yet nice enough for any occasion."

  • "Service was good. We were seated at a nice window table with view. 1/2 portions were very small at a full portion price. Overall the food was good but nothing special. Pasta was gummy, meatballs were small and tasted like they came from Sam's Club. Pizza was good. Restaurant set up well for large groups."

  • "Our service was decent, but this place's food is way, way overpriced for what you get. My wife got a salmon dish that was nearly inedible; my pasta dish tasted like something I could have made in the microwave at home. Add overpriced, mediocre cocktails and mediocre overpriced wine and that was the experience. Don't know how they stay in business. Must be location (which is indeed nice). Very poor value. I would rather eat at Olive Garden, which would be a much better value."

  • "We had an excellent meal and very attentive servers on a busy Saturday night. We requested a quiet table and were seated in a smaller section in the back of the restaurant. It was pleasant, even with a table of 8 next to us. We like to have a drink and relax before ordering and the server was very accommodating . The food was well prepared and came out at the right temperature. Dessert and coffee? The bread pudding was great! Next time we come we will investigate the entertainment on the 2nd floor."

  • "We first found Pranzo by accident and have loved it for years. It's a favorite spot when we visit Santa Fe, either for lunch or for dinner. Service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Tables are not crowded together and there are intimate booths available as well. Specials offer great variety as does the standard menu."

  • "The food was okay, average. The service was horrible. We will never go back. We had a large party, so the gratuity was automatically added to the check. The waitress ignored our table the entire evening. Very slow to bring beverages, take food orders, bring items, etc. More than three times, we had to ask another employee to bring our server over to the table. Finally, one person did not receive her main entree -- the server said it had been given to someone else at another table! She never made any attempt to bring another meal! Eventually, we asked for the manager, who apologized, and immediately brought her entree. They did not even offer to comp her meal. Very disappointing meal."

  • "We had been to Pranzo in January of 2013 for our son's birthday. My food was just okay and my husband's pasta had not been drained properly. We decided after that meal that we weren't going back. We heard that they got a new chef, so we were excited to try it. A total letdown! Their portions are VERY small and at one point the HOSTESS brought food to our table. We will never go back. There are too many wonderful restaurants in Santa Fe to waste your time on this one!"

  • "We each had the ribeye with the truffle fries and the artichoke tomato salad and each had the small Caesar salad. My goodness, what a superb meal. The ribeye was cooked perfectly; the truffle fries were excellent (not overly trufflely!). Their Caesar salad was exactly right. my husband was verrrry impressed with the wine list -- plus the reasonableness of the prices. can't wait to go back and actually have some pasta."

  • "My only negative was that I was fighting a cold and wanted Honey Lemon Ginger Tea. But No Ginger was available and Honey was the package type. Other than that the meal was good."

  • "I believe we have been going to Pronzo's since the late 80's. There have been times when it wasn't that good. But times have changed and the food was wonderful. I had the lamb chops which were wonderful and properly cooked. My wife loved here pasta with chicken, spinach. It is heart warming when we can come to Santa Fe and return to a memorable and delicious dinner. Pranzo you are going in the right direction, keep it up."
