Diner Reviews
  • "I would never ever recommend this place to anyone! The service is awful!! Mandatory coat check is ridiculous. Not everyone is going there to go to the club that starts@4. Just because we had a table of 2 does not mean you can treat the customers like they do not matter. They sat us in the worst table in the middle of a busy hall way that leads to downstairs. We were bumped into every time someone walked by. We asked if we could switch tables&they refused. We told them we wanted to leave then&she said she would see what she could do. Then a bus boy came by&asked if we were ok. A BUS BOY HAD TO ASK US! We told him no we were waiting on a new table. No one ever came. A manager had to get our coats (it took him 15 minutes) &we left. Worst place"

  • "I loved the energy and the crowd of people. However your DJ was one of the worst DJS i have encountered in a long time. His music selections sucked there was no real flow and he played a lot of songs over. Everything was great about my experience besides the music."

  • "The sweating cars down stairs was way to small. Our table was too close to the table next to ours. My friends were uncomfortable. And we really couldn't enjoy our time and talk because it was way to loud."

  • "Food ok but small portions. Thundering music very distracting and when we looked over the half wall to see the celebration, there were empty tables. very few customers and still service terrible."

  • "If you're a person about decor and ambiance, Pranna is a great spot for you. The bar area and lounge area are pretty nice but the gem would have to be the Dinning area. From the lighting, the spacious seating, the almost floor to ceiling windows it all feels expensive. The meal was great as well and the portion size was very large. I had the chicken tiki masal. I do not have a spicy palate so this worked for me. The only complaint was that service was a little slow towards the end of our meal. It took a while for us to get our dessert and the bill. Other than that it was a great time."

  • "If you are looking for a great brunch special and be able to party after this is a great spot to go to. I honestly loved it."

  • "Couldn't have been more disappointed. Lots of fryolator action with jarred sauces on the side. The noise was ridiculous -- they rented out the mezzanine to a party that overpowered the restaurant with a non-stop drum machine and the blare of an announcer doing prize drawings over an over-modulated microphone. Nice waitstaff but performing robotic routines a la TGIF. Just a terrible experience all round."

  • "We had reservations for Friday night. Apparently, they rented the top floor to a loud group that had an ongoing auction. The "auctioneer/MC" was constantly yelling out on a microphone. This ruined the entire ambiance of the restaurant. I asked the server if there was something she could do but she just said, "no, sorry". We got up and left."

  • "We've been here twice, and the best part if the vastness and space in this restaurant, a rarity in NYC. A close second is the food, whic his consistently amazing and not the little portions you expect from a place like this. I've gotten the snapper twice and finished off my dad's chili shrimp and love them both. My boyfriend had the chicken tikka and thai steak, and WOW, he loved them. They're also totally cool about subbing cuke salad for rice, which is light and not to salty (nothing's too salty) and huge. You want to go to here!"

  • "We came for a birthday dinner during happy hour, and were told that happy hour rates did not apply if we were sitting at a table...never saw this on the ad. Dinner was OK not spectacular and desserts were terrible, chalky kulfi and dry cake under the tres leche. Would not go there again."

  • "I went there for valentines day it was perfect. Very romantic setting. Couples felt very exclusive. We ordered from the valentine menu and everything we had was amazing. The waiters were prompt and were very helpful. I loved the decor as well. I would love to back for the regular menu."

  • "This place several years back was great. This past weekend was lousy. The smell of Clorox was everywhere, and we felt we were eating in a bathroom! The food quality was average - the chicken in the tikka was tough and fatty. The crowd was off - the vibe worse. For a Sat at 9, we made the wrong choice..."

  • "Initially, Pranna feels like Buddakan wannabe, but it doesn't have the goods. No ambiance, no food, no service. Manager works walks around front of house barking at staff with a carabiner of keys on his belt. Nice. We still managed to waste $100 on a table for 2."

  • "I had a very good experience at the restaurant. The decor was great the food was good and for a meal for 5 people with drinks it was reasonable prices. I would definitely go back."

  • "I had brunch here a couple of years ago- and I remember the food being good. I decided to try their dinner menu & wasn't impressed at all. I ordered their lamb stew and wasn't impressed at all. I don't see myself having dinner here anymore."

  • "I took a large group of friends here for my birthday dinner and after party. We all had a wonderful time; the ambiance was great and the place was energetic - which worked out great because my friends and I are an energetic bunch. Overall we had a great night!"

  • "First off Pranna was a beautiful place. I came here with 5 friends for my birthday. I was running really late for my reservation and when I got there they seated me right away without any problems. The vibe was awesome. The only thing that I had a problem with was the food, the portions were small. After leaving we ended up ordering take-out. That really sucked because we spent a lot of money."

  • "For Pranna's sake I hope our experience was not the norm. Appetizers were great. Mains were fine. Service was really bad. Nice place but had 2-3 large events going on right in the middle of the restaurant. Servers did not seem to be to interested in the tables. Four of us ordered drinks when we got there; 2 cocktails, 1 rose wine, 1 coke. The Cocktails came quick, the wine and coke didn't come until after the mains were delivered and we had to ask 2-3 times to get them. Then when the wine did come it was white wine and not rose. One of the mains asked for chicken and he got shrimp. There are lots of better places to go in NYC."

  • "Was recommended to this restaurant by a friend. We came all the way down from Sullivan County, NY and were not disappointed. Service was spot on, we never felt like we were forgotten. Water was always kept full at all times. The food was simply amazing. We had vegetable dumplings for appetizers and they were by far the best I've ever had. Our meals came out hot and in a timely manner. I had the lamb kabob and it was my first time having lamb. It was full of flavor and absolutely delicious."

  • "Everyone should visit at least once. It is a beautiful location and it seems like many companies host parties there. The food was amazing and I didn't expect the wings to be so tasty. Our waitress was not good but everything else made up for that."

  • "Gorgeous space, good service, mediocre food. We had a party for 10 at Pranna: booked a table in the dining room which turned out to be a genius because we were able to talk/hear each other. The lounge is a separate space, seems to be very happening but def. not for having a conversation. The service was very friendly and accommodating: we had a large party that arrived in stages and we were seated before everyone got there which is not bad for a Manhattan restaurant. Unfortunately the food was quite mediocre: sort of a Westernized version of SE Asian food (and I love both Thai and Indian). To be fair, though, someone in our party really liked the food and even checked out party space availability for the future: to each his own."

  • "Worst service ever. We were not even told it was a fixed price 3-course menu. We ended up paying $168 for 3 people just for our 1 dish each."
