Diner Reviews
  • "Went there the first time with friends for dinner. We ended up only staying for one app and a drink. Our waiter was so rude we left and went around the corner to Biaggi's."

  • "We were very excited that there was a full gluten-free menu - and food was VERY good! We will definitely be back."

  • "Such a great place! Casual, comfortable, kid friendly with an extensive menu and fabulous food. From-scratch kitchen is evident. Very fresh."

  • "Our server was prompt, friendly, and attentive. The generous serving of food came out at the right temperature and tasty. There were 5 in our group, we were given a nice large booth in the back which was perfect for privacy and visiting. Everyone in our party enjoyed their experience. I have eaten lunch and dinner and the Prairie Tap House and will go again."

  • "Both the prices and the menu options for happy hour are surprisingly wonderful. Some outside the box options and drink specials make happy hour worth driving to. The pit beef options are delicious and generous portion sizes. I'll be back."

  • "When we first sat down we couldn't help but notice how SMALL the booth was. There was not enough room for 2 adults per side and a purse or coat. It was also extremely tight between the seat back & the table. We are 4 average size adults. No one weighs over 160. We asked to move and were relocated promptly. 3 people ordered 3 varies of the pork sandwiches. They all thought they were great. Heard the fries were really good. I didn't try one. I ordered the Thai Dragon lobster egg roll appetizer. It was good also but for $12 it was a very small portion. I also had the potato soup. It was quite good. A lot of garlic. Personally, I was not impressed. Just a average restaurant, the others liked it. I would go back and try something else."

  • "Our first visit to this newer restaurant. Hamburgers were delicious, although huge! Nice tap beer listing - adequate wine list. A larger group was seated near our table which meant our waiter was very busy. Fortunately we were not in any hurry or the delay might have made our experience less favorable."

  • "We went to Prairie Tap House for my husband's birthday with 3 other couples. Our server was alright. A little lackluster on his personality, and we had to ask a few times for drink refills (he didn't check in). Most of the food was delicious. Several of the ladies had the fish and chips. The fish and tartar sauce were fabulous. 3 of us did not like the sauce that was on the coleslaw (it was a weird spicey sauce). My husband's bun for his sandwhich was cold and hard. He ended up just eating the meat off the bun (which was tasty). He didn't want to wait for the server who was MIA some of the time. His birthday chocolate cake was HUGE and delicious, we all were able to eat it. Drinks and beer were all good."

  • "This was our first time to Prairie Tap - really fun, great service, easy to sit a party of 6, loved that we could reserve a table as we had plans after dinner and that way we could know we could be on time! Will come back and bring more friends."

  • "Great food! Great presentation. Some different choices on the menu, but some nice standards too for the picky eater in your group. Service was quick and polite. Menu would lead you to believe it would be somewhat upscale atmosphere, but actually pretty casual."

  • "This was the first time we tried the Prairie Tap House. We were really impressed with the menu. I wanted to try it all! Our server was very attentive, the selections were numerous, and the portions were HUGE! I could have taken home leftovers, but the food was so good, I just kept eating. This is our new go to place for lunch or dinner."

  • "Great food for a casual restaurant! The Lobster home-made pasta was excellent!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Onion rings were pretty good and steak was alright. Brussels sprouts were doused in vinegar and the potato sides weren't that much better. Service was awful - took 45 minutes to order an app and then were ignored for another half hour. Great beer selection if you're willing to sit by the bar."

  • "Fourth time there. Still my favorite place for lunch. They have great sandwiches, good fries, superior service, and a wonderful list of beers on tap."

  • "To my liking the tables are set too close to each other.Having a conversation felt like everyone could hear you."

  • "We loved the food. The pit beef was a hit with everyone in the party. Also the Crab egg rolls for an appetizer were very flavorful with large chunks of crab meat."

  • "I had a burger with grilled onions and mushrooms. It was done to perfection. I substituted a salad with lemon balsamic dressing for fries; the salad was very tasty but very small and warm, not ice cold. Overall, I'd rate my meal very good. Others at the table found their food too spicy (barbequed pork sandwich and a pasta dish). Portion sizes are huge, which is a turn-off for me. Ambiance was very good - a pub atmosphere. This place appeals to the younger crowd more than my age group (70+ years). Excellent beer and wine list - no problem there. Wait staff was very attentive and service very good."

  • "I visited the Tap house for a breakfast a month ago. Huge and I mean huge sticky bun could've served 6 people. Loved the breakfast. Dinner was a big disappointment. Took my 82 yr old Father for a new experience. Wait staff kept up with his wine refills along with our soda refills. Heard the Garlic Sausage was a good app so we ordered it. It was ok. I ordered a BLT salad, hagerty potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Salad was HUGE. Took over3/4 of it home. Potatoes were yummy the Brussel sprouts had too much vinaigrette fort taste. That is just my part of the meal experience my husband and father were not impressed. We will return for breakfast but not dinner."

  • "I held a committee meeting there and they went out of their way to accomodate my request for a quieter spot in the restaurant. We didn't eat a whole lot, but we did sample a few of their appetizers which were quite good. I definitely would like to go back and actually eat a meal there."

  • "6 of us went out to celebrate a birthday. We all ordered different items; salmon, pasta, burgers, etc. The beer flight is fun and cocktails are good but food is just "ok." None of us were very impressed. Pasta lacked flavor, burger was lacking in general although it was sizeable, the pit meat lacked flavor. That being said its kind of a fun environment and I saw a few people order salads that looked yummy so we will probably go back. We live about 10minutes away so its worth it but I wouldnt necessarily recommend people make a special trip to check it out. We did get a free birthday dessert since it was the day of. It's nice to have a restaurant option with less of a generic chain vibe than what's often found in the area."

  • "We tried the Tap House for the first time last weekend for lunch. We were put in a booth so small that our feet were touching the opposite seat and the table felt like it was right on top of us. When ordered our drinks and appetizer, we were told the apps wouldn't be ready for another 45 minutes. Five minutes later, we saw another table that was eating the same appetizer. When we asked, our server said "oh, I guess they're ready now". The beer was served somewhat warm, certainly not cold. When i asked our server she said "we don't have any control over that"...In short, the food was poor and the service was awful. We will not be back."

  • "I was happy to have an Open Table reservation, as there was a crowd waiting to get in at 6pm on a Friday. You view the bar as soon as you enter. It was crowded and noisy. The décor is nonexistent. I commented immediately to my husband that I felt like I was in someone's poorly decorated basement rec room. There is nothing on the walls and all color is neutral - it's a depressing room. Our server was outstanding. He pointed out happy-hour specials, suggested popular menu items, and did a good job describing the various dishes. He was attentive and helpful. The onion rings were some of the best I have ever had. The Pit Beef was excellent and my husband's burger was a hit. The portions are extremely large and could easily be shared."

  • "Pretty good food, service was fast and attentive and friendly, not over bearing. Best service I've had in a long time. Lots of food, piled high, beef sandwiches were good, however, there is one seasoning in the pit beef that was strong. Fries were great, would go again and try some other menu items."

  • "Had a nice business dinner here recently. Great food choices, large selection of craft tap beers. Ambience a bit stark as they must not have had time to put much in the way of decor on the wood plank walls, but the food and beer choices make this point somewhat insignificant."

  • "Food was Awesome - Cajun Walleye Bites & the Lobster Rolls for appetizers, then a Bistro Pit for me (incredible combo!!) & a Philly Cheese Pit for my Husband. We should have split one because the Pit Sandwiches a just HUGE! Hostesses & waitstaff were welcoming & informative; service was quick & our orders were perfect. We sat in the Bar - the noise level was energetic, but not so loud you couldn't hold a conversation. An overall stellar experience - we will be back!"

  • "The service was good and the server very attentive, keeping an eye on the table and refreshing drinks without being asked. I had the truffle mushroom burger and would have said it is just a mushroom burger, nothing as special as I would expect having truffles. We still plan on going back in anticipation of hitting the right items to order."

  • "Went there on Valentines day - they did not disappoint. Affordable, yet good food. I like good local beers and they have plenty to offer there."

  • "Go here hungry as the portions are enormous. The prices seem very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The menu is diverse and we plan to return to try some of the other items. Service was a little slow, but our server was attentive and friendly."

  • "Sat in the far back of the restaurant in a big empty space staring at a blank wall - needed more tables to feel warm. Asked to move but was told they had "pre-assigned" their reservations. Hmm. Beet salad good, pasta good, fish and chips poor - both the fish and the fries had been dropped back into the fryer - had that grease build up/flavor. Service OK. Won't go back."

  • "Food was average at best and the kitchen needs to follow instructions. My "medium" burger was full on rare. The waiter, while friendly, was spread over too many tables. no reason to go out of your way to go here"

  • "Steak was very poor, could only eat about half of the 16oz NY Strip due to it being tough and chewy. For $34 one would expect more quality. I'm a fool as I could have walked about 500 feet to Wildfire, paid the same amount of money and had one of the best cuts of steak in the Twin Cities!"

  • "Went to the Tap House Friday night after work. Couple of thoughts - Beer list is really good. If you like more than just the Miller/Coors/Bud, this is a good place to stop. I tried the Belgian Beer Flight on advice from our server. Food was alright, I wouldn't classify it as 5 star but it's better than stopping at Chili's. The one thing that stuck out was our server. She was great. A few of my friends and I came in looking to have some beers and dinner after work as part of a guys night out. All 4 of us had questions on beers and she gave great recommendations based on our tastes. She joked with us and made our experience really good. I'd go back just because of her service."

  • "Ambiance: the space has been segmented with several floor to ceiling walls making a strange maze-like atmosphere but also trapping sound; tables were too close together. Service: entrees were delivered 2 minutes after we finally got our appetizers. Our sodas were empty and our server nowhere to be found. We asked another server if we could get refills and were met with an annoyed "sure, what do you want". Our server finally showed to grab our empties and then we each had two full sodas to add to the already crowded table. Food - crab cakes - fishy tasting; stuffed dates - overpowering awful goat cheese taste; onion rings - good. Burgers - prepared as ordered, good taste, fresh buns. Pit sandwich - very average. Fries - limp and underdone."

  • "All were done right and exceed expectations! I've been there three times and each time they did the things right with additional personal touch that make you feel like home. Sincere, genuine, amiable, considerate and accurate. Melanie,Heidi, and Mike are the great servers that I experienced."

  • "We arrived early for our 6:15 reservation and were seated promptly. Our waiter Dave was attentive and knowledgeable. We started with a delightful house beer similar to Blue Moon but a little lighter and the Korean lettuce wraps. All four of us were able to have several wraps and loved the spicy sauce on the side. I ordered the smoked haddock chowder. It was fantastic! Buttery smooth lightly smokey flavor with chunks of vegetables. My companions were also impressed with their choices ( Pit Beef, Cuban Pork and Gouda Burger) Huge portions and a nice variety of sides. Over all a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!"
