  • "We went for the brunch on Sunday and I was NOT impressed. My sister go the biscuits and gravy dish and when she got it one of the biscuits was so hard she couldn't even cut it with a knife!! How old was this thing - gross!! The server did get her a whole new plate with softer biscuits, but the dish itself was only so-so. I got the breakfast hash and it was not good. The meat was tough and had grizzle in it so it wasn't tender and flavorful at all. The only good thing we had was the huge pecan caramel sticky bun. That was AMAZING!!! The service was ok, but it wasn't great. I had a Groupon for this place, which is why I thought it would be fun to give it a try, but I will not be returning."

  • "Typical bar for mall location. Lots of beers to chose from both bottles and on tap. Music was very loud - could not converse with others at end of table. Crowd was more "bar group" than for dinner. Server was excellent. Food average for a bar, good selection of pork sandwiches. We had 3 kids with us, was not a great location for a family style dinner. Would return to try again for lunch or happy hour with friends, not dinner."

  • "Nothing ended up being good with our experience here. Long wait for service. Food overcooked and tasted very poor. 4 of us in party and not one of us liked what we ordered - all different items. Had to wait too long for everything - appetizer, wine, entree. Hope they can fix these things. Location good, but poor everything else!"

  • "The Cuban sandwich was good. The smoke Gouda burger was not as good as I expected."

  • "This was our first visit to the Prairie Tap House. Relaxed atmosphere, and a nice selection of menu choices. Definitely a place for the carnivore, but there were plenty of other options as well. We will definitely go back."

  • "We ate at the bar around 9:00 pm on a Friday. There was a moderate size crowd, and the ambiance was trendy and urban. Some of the food around us looked amazing as we pondered our decision. The veggie burger was AMAZING, but the chicken sandwich was less than delightful. It was a bit dry and bland. They had a great beer selection; however, it took 15 minutes before the bartender was able to peel himself away from chatting and serving a particular crowd to take care of us. We would definitely give it another chance because there was enough hope to expect better the second round."

  • "The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated. We were sat in a room that was a SUPER warm. Too warm. The food was NOT good AT ALL! We ordered our burgers medium and the came well done and as dry as a hockey puck. My husband ordered a sunny side egg on top of his. Nothing was sunny side up about it. The yoke was not runny and was like a hard boiled egg. The server was introverted and not helpful ay all. She was very timid. Over all we will not go back. We won't recommend it to our worst enemy and doubt it will last."

  • "My sisters and I meet every two weeks or so and decided to try this place. A wonderful surprise. The onion rings are awesome and the blue cheese burger was very tasty. Our server was very attentive. We would definitely go back and would recommend it to others."

  • "We looked forward to dining here after seeing the menu online. I would say the food was ok but nothing special. (Or anything I would hurry back for). The hostess was overwhelmed and by herself when we got there (and on the phone taking a customer order over the phone). I got the Chopped salad - it had way too much dressing and all I could taste was that dressing for the rest of the night."

  • "We had a gracious and fun server- he took great care of us and had a great sense of humor!"

  • "The tables along the center wall are too open as it is the corridor for the wait staff as well as patrons. Booths would give a more private space. The décor is lacking, after visiting the web site I was expecting completely different. Perhaps a different type of lighting would give a better ambiance."

  • "Amazing food and great beer selection! Loved the local choices. The only complaint is that the restaurant wasn't too crowded when we were there yet they sat another family right next to us. There was definitely room to spread out but they had everyone in one area."

  • "Very interesting combinations of flavors on the pit BBQ sandwiches. Definitely recommend the Buffalo Bleu sandwich and Cuban pork. The sandwiches were huge! Craft beer choices was great and we all enjoyed different flights. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the different beers. The restaurant faces west and was uncomfortably warm near the front windows, but the staff moved us to a cooler location very quickly when asked. We would definitely go back again!"

  • "I booked a reservation for Father's Day and could not have been more disappointed with the experience. The hostess put us at a table next to a window which was uncomfortably warm. We were waiting for the hostess to return with a high chair for our little one but she disappeared so we didn't know who to ask about moving tables. It took 15 minutes to track someone down to move. Another 10 for a table to be ready (the restaurant was 1/3 full with plenty of open tables). 45 minutes after we arrived we were greater by our waitress (although very nice) who took our drink order. 10 minutes later the drinks arrived but waitress disappeared. The service never improved and i would have walked out if not for a groupon. Really disappointed."

  • "We were very disappointed with our brunch experience. It took over an hour to get our meals, and the server didn't give us any explanation, she barely came around to check on us. When we did get our meals, the hash browns were cold and the eggs were not cooked as ordered, but our server didn't come back to check on us, so we couldn't get it corrected. It didn't appear they were that busy. So I am not sure what the issue was. We have been there once before for brunch, and the food came out quickly within 15 minutes and our service was very good, so I am hoping that this was just a really bad day for the restaurant."

  • "Eclectic appetizers, try the stuffed dates if u like a little spice, sandwiches are large and tasty, only item a little sub par was the french fries, they're a little soggy"

  • "Took our 2 YO with us to dinner -- the scene was loud enough that he could talk and sing and not bother anyone, which we always appreciate! The menu had tons of options... we figured since you can't get pit sandwiches at many local restaurants, we better try them! I had the buffalo pork and my husband had the hot Italian. We both LOVED them. Even though we were stuffed, we split the ice cream sandwich for dessert, and it didn't disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised how inexpensive our bill was (Happy Hour goes till 7 PM), too. My only slight complaint is we had to wait for our server and were greeted by the manager in the meantime... it didn't seem busy enough that we should have had to wait -- but otherwise service was "ok"."

  • "The Prairie Taphouse is fantastic! Its nice because there is something on the menu for everyone. The build your own pasta was a surprise, yumm and the Pit Beef was like being back in Baltimore!!"

  • "Good food. Enjoyed lobster egg rolls. Hand cut fries would be better with fresher oil. Server was great, attentive and friendly."

  • "This is probably the 6th or 7th time we have eaten here. We keep bringing friends back because the food and service are just outstanding - actually, I shouldn't comment on ALL the food, as I have, almost exclusively, had one of their pit sandwiches. Those are the biggest, baddest sandwiches around. Great selection of beers, both on tap and by the bottle."

  • "Good spot, had the signature Pit Beef and the Italian Beef both very good - Hand cut fries were great. Salad was a little disappointing with shredded lettuce and rather bland Ranch dressing considering the aggressive seasoning on just about everything. We had a scotch egg for an appy and it was good with very spicy sausage casing. Overall good food, rather bland but refreshingly quiet atmosphere."

  • "Based upon the website, you might think this is a cabaret type place. Not sure why they felt the need to put the pin-up girls on their website as the restaurant decor has nothing to do with it. Onto the review. Prairie Tap House has a great list of beer, though a lot of it is pretty standard comparable to most brewpub/gastropub type places in the city. I've only ever had appetizers, but I think they were pretty mediocre. Nothing inspiring really, though there is some more interesting items available. Service was great, and ambiance was nice."

  • "What a great new spot with good food that takes the "normal all american bar" type food and makes it more palatable and foodie. Great prices, great ambience, and glad to have it in the suburbs so I dont have to trek into the city everytime I dont want a CHAIN! Love this place! "

  • "Has a very good beer list. Food nothing out of the ordinary. Everyone at our table had something different . Substituted salad for fries. Didn't know she was going to charge us until we saw it on the bill. Was then taken care of. "

  • "Food was good and the portions were HUGE - come hungry. The cinnamon roll we got to share was DELISH, highly recommended. I know we were there on Mother's day which is notoriously awful day to try to go to a restaurant, but I assure you, my expectations were pretty low for that very reason. Our waitress was terrible. It was not at ALL busy when we got to the restaurant and it didn't pick up a lot until we were about to leave, so she didn't seem to have a good reason for being so awful. She was rude, didn't bring things we ordered, didn't tell us about the free orange juice, then when we asked about them, failed to bring them - in fact, she SENT away another server who checked in on us and went out of her way to bring the drinks to us"

  • "A group of 10 of us went for Mother's day and everyone who had the brunch LOVED it. They couldn't say enough about it!! The others who ordered off the lunch menu all had the same feedback saying it was average. "

  • "The restaurant is dark and uninviting. Large room could use art and dramatic lighting. The food was mediocre. Fish and chips: fish greasy. Fries over brown. Hamburger was only okay. We really wanted to like restaurant more than we did."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "Our fries were overcooked and after we mentioned it to three different people that came to our table, we gave up. Not one of them acknowledged it and asked us if we would like new ones. Also, we waited over 40 minutes to give our order. It was a busy Friday night and our server was rarely visible. On another note, they have a great beer list!"

  • "We loved our beer mussels, Korean beef lettuce wraps and mini tacos. We made a reservation for six and they gave us a very small table for six, we felt very cramped. Looking around, all their tables are small. "

  • "Great beverages and servers are knowledgeable to help choose. Excellent food! The furniture/decorating is simple and unpretentious (even bare-bones). Everything we ordered was delicious. We will return! "

  • "This might sound strange, but the sandwich portions are so big it's kind of gross. On the positive side, they have the best onion rings in town!"

  • "I heard rave reviews about the Prairie Tap House, but was disappointed in the food. Their fries are delicious, but the rest was decent, not outstanding. I love Lyndale Tap House, and expected the food to be on the same level. Maybe I'll go back to try out their brunch, or for drinks and appetizers, but probably not for lunch or dinner"

  • "We ordered the Georgia Pit (waitresses recommendation) and the pulled pork sandwich, the meat was hard to chew and full of fat. I never complain about food but asked mine to be taken off the tab since I only had a couple bites and my husband choked some of his down. The waitress was very nice and offered to provide something else to eat for dinner but if 2 out of the 2 recommended options here were bad I can't imagine how awful the rest of the food is. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area, I wouldn't bother coming here."

  • "Met some friends for dinner...be sure to make reservations to get a table. Great food and such a diverse crowd - people in business suits, casual dress, and families. Loved the Philly cheese steak and "pile of fries". Portions are huge and the service was great. The price is reasonable, as well. This was my second time there and I will definitely come back!"
