Diner Reviews
  • "The place is really nice looking. It was a really hot day and I wish the air conditioning would have been cooler. The happy hour prices are really great but the food portions are tiny. I had the chef's special pork sliders and they were delicious but my boyfriend had the regular beef sliders and they were really dry. The waitress was really busy and hard to get a hold of when we needed to pay and leave because of show tickets. All in all I would definitely go back later in the night to see what the scene might be but I would not show up hungry. It seems like a cool spot."

  • "Presents differently than what you see on the website. Dreary looking on the inside. Food terrible. No iced tea was prepared. Didn't have any salmon. Appetizer served still partially frozen. Roll of lobster roll stale. $75 for two and beverages were sodas. So not worth it...."

  • "This was my first time here for brunch. We had an awesome waitress....attentive, sweet, quick but the food was not great. I had the chicken Benedict and it wasn't hot or exciting. my cocktail was great (Ro & Barb)"

  • "Good menu, moderate prices. Service friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Great atmosphere without being too loud. Definitely will visit again!"

  • "This place is great for a younger crowd who does not mind shouting in the AM."

  • "Drinks and the food are great! Its perfect to go after work or with a group of friends to just have fun."

  • "The outside is nothing special. The view isn't great and you can't get any sun. The food was delicious and the menu has everything needed to cure a hangover. The inside decor is a little weird and the bathrooms are too dark. The cocktail we had was so awful we had to send it back. Still, I would give it another shot!"

  • "This was my first time here, and I am hesitant to write a review because I don't want everyone to go! I think the brunch was fantastic. I had the tuna tartare tacos and the lobster corn dog, both were great. Our waiter was so attentive and sweet, I would have to say brunch is a must do at pounds and ounces."

  • "We went for Brunch on a holiday weekend and sat outside with the beautiful weather. Salt? Ketchup? Waiter? It wasn't very busy but waiter was hard to find. Service was prompt, food was good, but once delivered they never checked to see if we needed anything else. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood. Beware - very dark bathrooms. Bring a flashlight."

  • "This place is great and it's doing an unlimited boozy brunch 5 days a week. The usual Saturday and Sunday AND what they are calling WTF brunch for Wednesday Thursday and Friday! It's a retail or service industry employees dream becuase I work on weekend I never get to brunch! Loved it, def going back!"

  • "I chose this place to take my Mom and other family for Mother's Day. We had a great enthusiastic waiter (Sean) that made the day perfect. The meals were so good but especially the french toast with Nutella spread. It was the stuff of Gods! This is definitely a place I'd frequent and recommend to others. "

  • "Took my wife for a Mother's Day brunch. She had identified several items from the online menu. Upon arriving, the waiter explained that none of the items were available. Offered nothing (a free drink?) to compensate. Probably won't come back."

  • "The food was fine. Very good prices. Nothing amazing but fine for a little girls night out. The manager was very nice but the waitress never came over to ask us how our meal was and we had to ask a few times for one person's meal to come out as five out of the six of us had our dishes in front of us. Would go back if I was in the area but wouldn't necessarily RUN back."

  • "I live in Chelsea and have been wanting to check out Pounds and Ounces for a while. I arranged a brunch for a party of 4. I'll start with the positives. The look of the place is nice, trendy, and modern. However, the music inside is way too loud. I'm 33, so not usually sensitive to that but it would have been difficult to carry on a conversation. Also, the French fries were quite tasty and the service was good and highly attentive. The food, however, really wasn't up to expectation. I had a sandwich and the bread was dry and hard. My friends were not as impressed with theirs either. With all of the brunch options available in Chelsea, I don't think I will return to this one."

  • "Went to Tribeca film festival and wanted to eat close. Great place. Good for late night drinks, pre show dinner. Bet it would be good as a lunch place also. "

  • "We couldn't even read the menu, because the lighting was too dark. The food was OK, but nothing to rave or crave. And it was incredibly loud."

  • "I went here with a group of friends last weekend for brunch and the entire experience was phenomenal. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were seated outside where we were able to enjoy a nice view of the city and our food and drinks all arrived fairly quick. Our server was able to provide us with excellent recommendations and the menu was fairly priced for an afternoon brunch. We picked multiple items off the menu and shared it between the group. My bill was approximately $40.00, which included bottomless mimosas, 2 entrees and 2 appetisers (shared between 3 people). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice brunch in Chelsea!"

  • "Brought out of town friends to this restaurant for brunch and we all enjoyed our meals and our drinks. Chicken and Waffles were excellent! "

  • "So maybe we shouldn't complain that we weren't rushed, after all, so many times the pendulum swings that way. Our waitstaff was really nice, and we had a great meal. Food was very tasty. We just waited a long time to get our first appetizer, though the time between apps and the main course was better. Would definitely go back."

  • "This place has no idea what it wants to be. The decor is completely clashing and the menu is unfocused. The service was awful at best, she was drinking at the bar not even 15 feet from our table while we had to wait on ordering our drinks after asking multiple people. The food came out and it was cold and the taste was forgettable. Bathrooms were dirty and the ambience was that of a Saturday night bar. Not a place I'll be returning."

  • "Pounds and Ounces provides the best value for money in terms of food quality, price, drinks, festive atmosphere , and service quality in the area. While menu items are not avant gard, they are good basics with a twist."

  • "I will, without a doubt, come back! Awesome brunch menu, great drinks, friendly staff, huge portions of food.. Just a great time and worth every penny!"

  • "I went with a friend for brunch, and I thought the place was fun. However, as a restaurant it should concentrate on warm good food being served, and consistent taste in drinks."

  • "Got the brunch burger, it wasn't anything special but the unlimited brunch drinks were a hit with my party. Cocktails weren't great but the waitstaff tried to keep them coming."

  • "Their macNcheese impressed. The Rueben was exceptional. But our chosen, leisurely pace of late lunch, was not a pressure or issue with the hostess/waitress and that was greatly appreciated. She certainly was compensated at the end for her friendly and ultimately no pressure approach."

  • "If you are going to the Joyce Theater, this restaurant is only one block away. The food is presented in a very creative manner. My salmon dish was very tasty. The fried asparagus appetizer was presented vertically in a bucket and were crunchy and fun to eat."

  • "It was high octane on a Friday night yet service was great. The food was good to taste and sure hit your waistline. Not worried about the waste line? Then get the fork and knife burger and prepare yourself."

  • "My fiancé, mother and father in law went for brunch on Sunday. The food was amazing!!! We ordered a ton of apps. and each our own meal. We loved the asparagus fries, tuna tacos and the mac and cheese, all were amazing! Everyone loved their entrée, steak and eggs, egg BLT and Chicken benedict, they all were outstanding and of course the white peach mimosas were amazing too. Service was a bit slow in the beginning when we first sat down. It took a good amount of time until someone came over to even give the table waters."

  • "This was a great spot for brunch. I very much enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and our server. We had the chicken and waffles, the egg blt, and lobster corn dogs. The egg blt was my favorite, but everything was solid, the music was good (and not too loud) and I highly recommend this spot for brunch."

  • "Heard good things about this place and most was true - food was very good, especially the burgers and fries, the design of the restaurant was very trendy, but the service is what threw me off. While we did arrive a couple minutes late to our reservation, it took an odd amount of time to prepare our table and when we finally sat down they seated us at a corner table where there was a standing television placed right next to us (to watch the Olympics) and we had to deal with people standing extremely close to our table where we were trying to eat. Also, we had to ask for bread more than four times before they actually brought it out and they forgot to put in half our dinner order, which threw the meal off. But, the food was delicious!"

  • "A great Chelsea locale with some amazing food. The staff was busy but worked hard and were courteous. Will definitely come again."

  • "We were looking for a place specifically in this neighborhood. As location was key, we set our sights low for food & drink. However, Pounds & Ounces had really great burgers, cocktails, and apps. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't terribly expensive either. It was just over $100 for three burgers, six cocktails and one app. The service was good. They even let us linger at our table much longer than we figured they should. We will definitely go back. The one downside is that you can't take advantage of the Happy Hour specials if you're seated outside the bar area."

  • "We weren't sure what to expect especially when we walked in and the music was so loud from the DJ. But that quickly faded away as we enjoyed the wonderful service from Sean and of course the food was delicious. Probably the best meal we had in the 4 days of our trip and we went to some highly recommended places. The Surf & Turf was so unique and tasty. My husband was very pleased with his filet. The potato cauliflower puree was so yummy also. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer was very good but less sweet than usual which wasn't good or bad just different, BUT the Tuna Tartare Tacos - AWESOME!!! Thanks Sean for a great experience before the SNM show."

  • "We were very surprised by the tastiness of the food. Our calamari appetizer was followed by the seared scallops and braised short ribs and all our choices were delicious. A very energetic eating experience. Very good value for very good food with excellent service. It's on our return list. Thank you for a very enjoyable dinner. It's on our list to return."
