Diner Reviews
  • "So maybe we shouldn't complain that we weren't rushed, after all, so many times the pendulum swings that way. Our waitstaff was really nice, and we had a great meal. Food was very tasty. We just waited a long time to get our first appetizer, though the time between apps and the main course was better. Would definitely go back."

  • "This place has no idea what it wants to be. The decor is completely clashing and the menu is unfocused. The service was awful at best, she was drinking at the bar not even 15 feet from our table while we had to wait on ordering our drinks after asking multiple people. The food came out and it was cold and the taste was forgettable. Bathrooms were dirty and the ambience was that of a Saturday night bar. Not a place I'll be returning."

  • "Pounds and Ounces provides the best value for money in terms of food quality, price, drinks, festive atmosphere , and service quality in the area. While menu items are not avant gard, they are good basics with a twist."

  • "I will, without a doubt, come back! Awesome brunch menu, great drinks, friendly staff, huge portions of food.. Just a great time and worth every penny!"

  • "Casual, romantic ambiance. Trendy & modern. Lobster corn dogs app & wild mushroom risotto were amazing! Service was excellent! Great experience overall!"

  • "We always enjoy eating at Pounds & Ounces when we stay in Chelsea. Great drinks, great food, great waiters, and a lively crowd. Highly recommend."

  • "I went with a friend for brunch, and I thought the place was fun. However, as a restaurant it should concentrate on warm good food being served, and consistent taste in drinks."

  • "Got the brunch burger, it wasn't anything special but the unlimited brunch drinks were a hit with my party. Cocktails weren't great but the waitstaff tried to keep them coming."

  • "Their macNcheese impressed. The Rueben was exceptional. But our chosen, leisurely pace of late lunch, was not a pressure or issue with the hostess/waitress and that was greatly appreciated. She certainly was compensated at the end for her friendly and ultimately no pressure approach."

  • "If you are going to the Joyce Theater, this restaurant is only one block away. The food is presented in a very creative manner. My salmon dish was very tasty. The fried asparagus appetizer was presented vertically in a bucket and were crunchy and fun to eat."

  • "It was high octane on a Friday night yet service was great. The food was good to taste and sure hit your waistline. Not worried about the waste line? Then get the fork and knife burger and prepare yourself."

  • "My fiancé, mother and father in law went for brunch on Sunday. The food was amazing!!! We ordered a ton of apps. and each our own meal. We loved the asparagus fries, tuna tacos and the mac and cheese, all were amazing! Everyone loved their entrée, steak and eggs, egg BLT and Chicken benedict, they all were outstanding and of course the white peach mimosas were amazing too. Service was a bit slow in the beginning when we first sat down. It took a good amount of time until someone came over to even give the table waters."

  • "This was a great spot for brunch. I very much enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and our server. We had the chicken and waffles, the egg blt, and lobster corn dogs. The egg blt was my favorite, but everything was solid, the music was good (and not too loud) and I highly recommend this spot for brunch."

  • "Service was very good for a group. Some food like the baked Mac n cheese were good and salmon burger was average"

  • "Nice brunch scene - good music. Not a great place for bloody marys (stick with the champagne drinks)."

  • "Heard good things about this place and most was true - food was very good, especially the burgers and fries, the design of the restaurant was very trendy, but the service is what threw me off. While we did arrive a couple minutes late to our reservation, it took an odd amount of time to prepare our table and when we finally sat down they seated us at a corner table where there was a standing television placed right next to us (to watch the Olympics) and we had to deal with people standing extremely close to our table where we were trying to eat. Also, we had to ask for bread more than four times before they actually brought it out and they forgot to put in half our dinner order, which threw the meal off. But, the food was delicious!"

  • "A great Chelsea locale with some amazing food. The staff was busy but worked hard and were courteous. Will definitely come again."

  • "We were looking for a place specifically in this neighborhood. As location was key, we set our sights low for food & drink. However, Pounds & Ounces had really great burgers, cocktails, and apps. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't terribly expensive either. It was just over $100 for three burgers, six cocktails and one app. The service was good. They even let us linger at our table much longer than we figured they should. We will definitely go back. The one downside is that you can't take advantage of the Happy Hour specials if you're seated outside the bar area."

  • "We weren't sure what to expect especially when we walked in and the music was so loud from the DJ. But that quickly faded away as we enjoyed the wonderful service from Sean and of course the food was delicious. Probably the best meal we had in the 4 days of our trip and we went to some highly recommended places. The Surf & Turf was so unique and tasty. My husband was very pleased with his filet. The potato cauliflower puree was so yummy also. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer was very good but less sweet than usual which wasn't good or bad just different, BUT the Tuna Tartare Tacos - AWESOME!!! Thanks Sean for a great experience before the SNM show."

  • "We were very surprised by the tastiness of the food. Our calamari appetizer was followed by the seared scallops and braised short ribs and all our choices were delicious. A very energetic eating experience. Very good value for very good food with excellent service. It's on our return list. Thank you for a very enjoyable dinner. It's on our list to return."

  • "Nothing to recommend here--food was not just mediocre but bad. Had mussels, burgers, salad, sorbet."

  • "I've been here several times for brunch, dinner and a quick drink. Everything on their menu is amazing. There are a few healthy items on the menu, but expect to splurge on calories. Favorites include surf and turf, duck tacos, ricotta donuts, and the potato pancake brunch special. The prices really add up quickly after appetizers and drinks, I normally come with a deal, which they offer quite frequently. It is a very vibrant atmosphere, so expect it to be very loud. I prefer to sit outside on a warm day."

  • "very good food and good ambiance - but a little pricey - I left hungry - you should not have to pay for the sides - or at least give bread and butter basket without having to ask for it ..."

  • "i went to this restaurant with high expectations since i saw it on T.V. and I was deeply disappointed. I really wanted to try the F& K n burger but i found out that it was still the brunch menu at 12 30 and bruch was until 5pm. What I did have I was not impressed and neither were the people that came with me. Perhaps it woul dhave been diffrent if I cama at a different time. Would iIcome back, probably not."

  • "A colleague of mine, Pierre, who is also a friend came to town for his yearly visit, so I recommended Pounds & Ounces based on my good previous experiences. We were not disappointed! We had our choice of which table to sit at so selected the back corner to have a place to chat and chew. Our server was friendly, if a tad over-attentive (better than being ignored, though) so we had all the coffee and drinks we could have needed. We selected two of the Benedicts - Pierre had the crispy chicken and I had the eggplant/tomato and both were very good. The asparagus fries appetizer that we shared was phenomenal ! Things became louder as brunch went on but it was a happy atmosphere so it was not a negative factor. In all, a terrific brunch!"

  • "So noisy that one could not hear the person sitting along side. So dark that a flashlight was necessary to read the menu. The food was decent but my friends and I will never return."

  • "The grilled Kale was cold and tasteless, the grilled chicken was ok. If you are looking for a decent burger, fine. Ootherwise I'd look elsewhere. On the plus side it is very pretty."

  • "We had reservations for a specific time, but the table was not ready for 20 minutes after. Also, one of the orders was served completely wrong. However, the staff was very apologetic and quick in handling the situation and provided us with complementary drinks and food. Ultimately, the food is very good and the ambiance is a lot of fun."

  • "I went there with my friends. I ordered carbonara large plate and it was literally large plate. Small amount of food on large plate. Do not order any food on large plate. Carbonara was the worst carbonara I've ever eaten. My friends ordered burger and salmon. Salmon was bad as well, but burger was okay. The server gave us bill during eating. I won't go back again. Never"

  • "They need to decide if they want to be a lounge-bar with blaring loud dance music (something is wrong with the sound system--the treble was so HIGH) or a restaurant. Both, ain't working."

  • "Add this restaurant to the growing number of booming restaurants where you can't converse with your companions and very nearly get a headache from the loud sounds. So what is the value of friendly staff and decent food and drink when this happens?"
