Striking décor and unique American eclectic menu come together to create a chic vibe in a comfortable eating, drinking and gathering destination. Located in the heart of Chelsea, it is the nightly go-to place for couples, singles, girls-night out, as well as weekend brunch. Thanks to its all-encompassing menu, captivating cocktails, and hip music, Pounds & Ounces is the liveliest scenes in the neighborhood highlighted by its centerpiece, a long alabaster and metal communal table that runs down the center of the space.
Groups large and small will enjoy Chef Jeff Kreisel’s homey favorites including Roasted Chicken with a potato-cauliflower purée and rainbow Swiss chard; Pan Roasted Halibut, or Pan Seared Scallops. Lighter fare includes a Housemade Mozzarella & Tomato Salad with heirloom tomatoes and basil pesto garnished with red onion marmalade; Grilled Kale Caesar salad with trevisano, white anchovies, and garlic croutons; and a sweet and savory Watermelon Salad.

We just waited a long time to get our first appetizer, though the time between apps and the main course was better. Would definitely go back."

The service was awful at best, she was drinking at the bar not even 15 feet from our table while we had to wait on ordering our drinks after asking multiple people. The food came out and it was cold and the taste was forgettable. Bathrooms were dirty and the ambience was that of a Saturday night bar. Not a place I'll be returning."

  • "My fiancé, mother and father in law went for brunch on Sunday. The food was amazing!!! We ordered a ton of apps. and each our own meal. We loved the asparagus fries, tuna tacos and the mac and cheese, all were amazing! Everyone loved their entrée, steak and eggs, egg BLT and Chicken benedict, they all were outstanding and of course the white peach mimosas were amazing too. Service was a bit slow in the beginning when we first sat down. It took a good amount of time until someone came over to even give the table waters."

The egg blt was my favorite, but everything was solid, the music was good (and not too loud) and I highly recommend this spot for brunch."

  • "Heard good things about this place and most was true - food was very good, especially the burgers and fries, the design of the restaurant was very trendy, but the service is what threw me off. While we did arrive a couple minutes late to our reservation, it took an odd amount of time to prepare our table and when we finally sat down they seated us at a corner table where there was a standing television placed right next to us (to watch the Olympics) and we had to deal with people standing extremely close to our table where we were trying to eat. Also, we had to ask for bread more than four times before they actually brought it out and they forgot to put in half our dinner order, which threw the meal off. But, the food was delicious!"

  • "We were looking for a place specifically in this neighborhood. As location was key, we set our sights low for food & drink. However, Pounds & Ounces had really great burgers, cocktails, and apps. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't terribly expensive either. It was just over $100 for three burgers, six cocktails and one app. The service was good. They even let us linger at our table much longer than we figured they should. We will definitely go back. The one downside is that you can't take advantage of the Happy Hour specials if you're seated outside the bar area."

  • "We weren't sure what to expect especially when we walked in and the music was so loud from the DJ. But that quickly faded away as we enjoyed the wonderful service from Sean and of course the food was delicious. Probably the best meal we had in the 4 days of our trip and we went to some highly recommended places. The Surf & Turf was so unique and tasty. My husband was very pleased with his filet. The potato cauliflower puree was so yummy also. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer was very good but less sweet than usual which wasn't good or bad just different, BUT the Tuna Tartare Tacos - AWESOME!!! Thanks Sean for a great experience before the SNM show."

  • "I've been here several times for brunch, dinner and a quick drink. Everything on their menu is amazing. There are a few healthy items on the menu, but expect to splurge on calories. Favorites include surf and turf, duck tacos, ricotta donuts, and the potato pancake brunch special. The prices really add up quickly after appetizers and drinks, I normally come with a deal, which they offer quite frequently. It is a very vibrant atmosphere, so expect it to be very loud. I prefer to sit outside on a warm day."

  • "A colleague of mine, Pierre, who is also a friend came to town for his yearly visit, so I recommended Pounds & Ounces based on my good previous experiences. We were not disappointed! We had our choice of which table to sit at so selected the back corner to have a place to chat and chew. Our server was friendly, if a tad over-attentive (better than being ignored, though) so we had all the coffee and drinks we could have needed. We selected two of the Benedicts - Pierre had the crispy chicken and I had the eggplant/tomato and both were very good. The asparagus fries appetizer that we shared was phenomenal ! Things became louder as brunch went on but it was a happy atmosphere so it was not a negative factor. In all, a terrific brunch!"
