I must have walked passed Pounds & Ounces a million times in my travels but this was the first time I stopped in. I had no idea what I was missing! I had brunch & started off with their delicious summer sangria that was tasty & refreshing. While we were tempted to have the lobster corn dogs (really! lobster corn dogs!!!) we had the mac & cheese croquettes, that I'm not ashamed to say were inhaled the moment they hit the table! Our server was very nice & attentive. I went with the Crispy Chicken Benedict which was excellent - just enough of everything & delicious, while my friend had Egg BLT. Everyone went home full & happy that day! Do yourself a favor & don't keep walking - they have brunch 5 days a week! I'll be back very soon!

  • Pricey and Bland: A Brunch Review
    Reliable5ource
    Dined on 8/3/2014
I was expecting better food and better service, considering I had left a reservation note specifying allergies at and also specifying that it was a birthday celebration. Chicken benedict = bland. Martini Pitchers = too small. Our server, to no fault of his own, was not told of either of these things. This resulted in me (the birthday girl) being served up a plate of my allergens (bell peppers) mixed in with the home fries. To top it all off, my food was cold. When I told him my food was cold and that I had an allergy that I had mentioned when I made the reservation, he got visibly flustered and almost argued back starting to say "I wish you had.." When remade it had spinach on it? NOTHING special was done for my birthday, either.

Chose to eat eat for brunch on a Sunday. Loved the service and thought the ambience of the restaurant was great. The only problem is the food was just ok. We had a app and two entrees and was very let down. Being there are tons of other brunch options it's unlikely I'd give this another chance

Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Wonderful. However, the food was really just mediocre. We had the crispy chicken, which was really quite tough and a bit dry; the potatoes, although delicious, were barely lukewarm. My sister sent hers back for this very reason, and she was given another plate of potatoes, which was also lukewarm. Our friend had the watermelon salad, and loved it. Overall, the experience was OK, but I wasn't blown away, really.

The noise level is eardrum splitting. We requested the quietest table possible, & the friendly host put us in a back corner which was slightly quieter. We asked the waiter about the music volume & he admitted to hating it & that customers constantly complain, but "the owners like it". The place was 3/4 empty of course. So, there you have it - owners, who must be hard of hearing, force wait staff & customers to endure disco level noise. My guess is that customers put up with it because it's a comfortable place, you can always get a table & the prices aren't insane. It's why we stayed - it was Sat night & we just wanted some burgers & wine & this is a perfect spot for that. We'd go back if the volume was lowered.

My friends and I met up for dinner at Pounds and Ounces last Friday. The drinks were great, a bit pricy for sangria, but still great. The food was average. Nothing special about it and definitely not worth the price. I would go back for drinks though. The ambiance is pretty cool and it's in a great spot for heading out downtown later on. Super friendly staff as well.

Presents differently than what you see on the website. Dreary looking on the inside. Food terrible. No iced tea was prepared. Didn't have any salmon. Appetizer served still partially frozen. Roll of lobster roll stale. $75 for two and beverages were sodas. So not worth it....

The place is really nice looking. It was a really hot day and I wish the air conditioning would have been cooler. The happy hour prices are really great but the food portions are tiny. I had the chef's special pork sliders and they were delicious but my boyfriend had the regular beef sliders and they were really dry. The waitress was really busy and hard to get a hold of when we needed to pay and leave because of show tickets. All in all I would definitely go back later in the night to see what the scene might be but I would not show up hungry. It seems like a cool spot.

The outside is nothing special. The view isn't great and you can't get any sun. The food was delicious and the menu has everything needed to cure a hangover. The inside decor is a little weird and the bathrooms are too dark. The cocktail we had was so awful we had to send it back. Still, I would give it another shot!

We went for Brunch on a holiday weekend and sat outside with the beautiful weather. Salt? Ketchup? Waiter? It wasn't very busy but waiter was hard to find. Service was prompt, food was good, but once delivered they never checked to see if we needed anything else. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood. Beware - very dark bathrooms. The food was fine. Very good prices. Nothing amazing but fine for a little girls night out. The manager was very nice but the waitress never came over to ask us how our meal was and we had to ask a few times for one person's meal to come out as five out of the six of us had our dishes in front of us. Would go back if I was in the area but wouldn't necessarily RUN back.

I live in Chelsea and have been wanting to check out Pounds and Ounces for a while. I arranged a brunch for a party of 4. I'll start with the positives. The look of the place is nice, trendy, and modern. However, the music inside is way too loud. I'm 33, so not usually sensitive to that but it would have been difficult to carry on a conversation. Also, the French fries were quite tasty and the service was good and highly attentive. The food, however, really wasn't up to expectation. I had a sandwich and the bread was dry and hard. My friends were not as impressed with theirs either. With all of the brunch options available in Chelsea, I don't think I will return to this one.

I went here with a group of friends last weekend for brunch and the entire experience was phenomenal. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were seated outside where we were able to enjoy a nice view of the city and our food and drinks all arrived fairly quick. Our server was able to provide us with excellent recommendations and the menu was fairly priced for an afternoon brunch. We picked multiple items off the menu and shared it between the group. My bill was approximately $40.00, which included bottomless mimosas, 2 entrees and 2 appetisers (shared between 3 people). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice brunch in Chelsea!

This place has no idea what it wants to be. The decor is completely clashing and the menu is unfocused. The service was awful at best, she was drinking at the bar not even 15 feet from our table while we had to wait on ordering our drinks after asking multiple people. The food came out and it was cold and the taste was forgettable. Bathrooms were dirty and the ambience was that of a Saturday night bar. Not a place I'll be returning.

So maybe we shouldn't complain that we weren't rushed, after all, so many times the pendulum swings that way. Our waitstaff was really nice, and we had a great meal. Food was very tasty. We just waited a long time to get our first appetizer, though the time between apps and the main course was better. Would definitely go back.
