  • "I love Postrio in Las Vegas and was looking forward to the lobster club sandwich in San Francisco. I had been to this location many years ago and remembered a very pleasant dining experience. on this trip, i found the menu to be very limited....no lobster club. With such a limited menu,the food should have been outstanding but fell short."

  • "The restaurant has a very nice charm and has a great menu. The waiter brought our wine very quickly and took our appetizer order but the appetizers took forever to come out. We were attending a show but had to finish our appetizers quickly and leave for the show. Unable to order dinner. I would like to return to try the dinner menu."

  • "We went back to Postrio recently after a long hiatus. It is still spectacular -- great food, lovely ambience and setting. But we were shocked at how few diners there were -- not sure what has happened. The place used to be packed on all three levels during weekends, and there were barely 6 tables occupied on a Sat. night. Perhaps they need to improve their marketing?"

  • "Years ago, this was a restaurant for special occasions. Now, it is just a lobby bar with good food. The menu is short, but that may be all that the kitchen can handle. Service was below par; could not understand the server and he took our menus after we ordered appetizers so we had to ask for them back to order our entrees and next round of drinks."

  • "Postrio used to be a fun, happening, full of life spot that had wonderful food. They just need to shut it down. We should have known something was off when we had such a good choice of reservation slots on a Friday night. The bottle of wine was good, but other than that we wasted good money on mediocre food and horrible surrounding. I am angry at myself for not reading recent reviews before we went. I was assuming it was the same Postrio from the Wolfgang Puck days. Do not waste your money."

  • "Wolfgang Puck has been a favorite chef.Post. This restaurant had been a favorite. Knowing we would be in SFO and able to eat here again made me happy. Food was good. Limited menu.service not attentive. Restaurant not crowded. Ordered miss think Wolfgang should visit this restaurant again."

  • "Expectations were not met on our anniversary dinner. Service friendly but spotty - I had to remind server to bring our wine to the table. Our entrees were definitely of the "small plate" variety ... in fact they looked as though they were our appetizers. My wife's scallops were much too salty and my lamb portion was just OK and not warm enough. Only bright spot was the complimentary desserts offered for our anniversary."

  • "This restaurant is in the Klimpton hotel a few blocks up the hill from Market and 5th. The atmosphere is rather old-fashioned like fancy restaurants of the 60's. The food was surpringly good and innovative for a reasonable price."

  • "We made a very late reservation for 9:45pm after working a long day. We were 5 minutes late, when we arrive and the sign was placed out front that it was not taking new seating. But, upon seeing our open table reservation, we were seated right away. Our server was extremely friendly and professional, even though it was very late and we were the only tale there. Food came fast and delicious. We had a wonderful meal to round out our day in San Francisco."

  • "Had been many years since dining at this once-iconic restaurant; thought it would be good to go back and experience it again. Went on Valentine's night and was very disappointed. The empty bar at 7pm on Valentine's was the initial tip-off that this place has gone downhill.... the main dining room at the very bottom of the stairs was not even set up. The food was mediocre - though the salad course was pretty good; and the service was friendly but rushed. The dishes seemed to be delivered immediately after the previous course was cleared (not sure why because there was not a line out the door waiting for our table...). Anyway, will have fond memories of the old days at this place."

  • "If we knew that Wolfgang Puck no longer owned Postrio we probably would have not gone to a new restaurant. It wasn't until we were seated that the waiter had informed us of the change in ownership. Keeping the name of Postrio is misleading but we decided to give it a try. Really can't pinpoint our experience to just one thing because it just wasn't what we expected."

  • "We were looking for a real dining experience but the combination of flavors just didn't work. In addition, the menu was very limited, and did not offer a rounded selection. I had the halibut "fish and chips". The fish was cooked to perfection, but the tartar sauce was tasteless. The pea mash was stone cold and didn't compliment the fish at all. The hanger steak my husband had, though cooked just right, was seasoned with an odd flavor and was only served with potatoes. The pellegrino I was served was warm and the cappucino we ordered came after we finished our dessert. Overall, we were disappointed with our date night meal."

  • "We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was severely understaffed. When we walked in there was no one at the hostess stand. We (and three other groups behind us) waited for five minutes. We finally had to walk around in the restaurant until we found a waitress to seat us. We sat at the table for 15 minutes and no one came by to even give us water. Again, had to go flag someone down. From what we could see there were only three waiter/waitress for many tables. The staff that did eventually serve us were very pleasant. I see this as a huge management problem. Food was good but nothing special. Don't think we'll be back."

  • "WOW! I made reservations for a romantic dinner and the staff at Postrio made it an awesome experience. From the Maitre D' to our waiter to the chef, they all worked to gather to make our romantic dinner a premier experience. It was my sweetie's birthday and they were fantastic."

  • "In town for a meeting, looking for a good meal, quiet place for conversation, near downtown. SF has so many choices feel overwhelmed, so went here because close to hotel, looks good when you walk in. The space is intriguing, multi-levels, keeps opening up, mix of old and modern touches. But food and service are fair at best, don't live up to prices. The items on appetizer list look more interesting than main course so I go with fig and arugula salad and mussels. Bread delivered is one small roll per person, nothing exceptional. They get the order wrong for my friend, then charge her for that and what she ordered. Service disappeared as evening went on. I read reviews later - didn't see on the menu items recommended by others."

  • "A varied menu for all tastes! We received a 2nd complimentary appetizer and it was delicious! Let them know you are seeing a play and your service is very fast. I would recommend self parking tho, because valet was slow and due to the traffic we missed the first few minutes of the play. Other than that, it is a great spot..and reasonably priced (wines high, but beers not)."

  • "We came here for the 3-course $35 menu. The restaurant is humungous but it was very quiet, only 4 tables occupied (including ours). That's probably why there was just one server and one bus person. It took a long time to even get our drink order in after we were seated, and even longer to order food. Ordered the Mission fig starters (good), crispy veal sweetbreads and burger (also good), and vanilla creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding as dessert. Unfortunately, their dessert menu was different from the one online, and a bit disappointing selection. We had a couple of glasses of wine each which completely ruined the good value of the meal; the Cabernet Sauvignon was $15 a glass! Glad I gave it a try but am unlikely to return."

  • "After the terrible reviews it got on Yelp, I was prepared for poor service and mediocre food. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious (chicken and hanger steak), the brussel sprouts and kale salad were extraordinary in appeal and flavor, especially the sprouts. Our wait person was very attentive and helpful. The only thing is that the food for the main course could have been warmer. The table overlooked a now defunct dining room and overlooked the kitchen, which was noisy. . . it wasn't the usual experience where the kitchen is visible. It felt like it had had its day. I ate there at the height of popularity when everything was bustling and it was hard to get a reservation. The contrast was a bit depressing. Bar was more active."

  • "I was in the area for a conference, was dining by myself. They easily fulfilled my request for a table with enough light to read. The waiter was very patient explaining the different dishes. The menu is limited but the food itself is very good. When I am away from home I like trying different restaurants, at home I repeat a lot. This would have earned a repeat visit if at home."

  • "The cuisine at Postrio during the first years of operation was consistently exceptional. Main course doesn't have to be a "little plate." Poor reparation of our three courses made us wonder if the chef was out for the evening. Dessert a disaster. Sorry to see this restaurant go downhill. We won't be back."

  • "We dine regularly in downtown SF before going to the theatre on Geary Street. Have tried many restaurants in that area. Postrio's is the finest restaurant we have been to They have an unusual menu, the food is the best we've tasted, and the decor is very fine. The prices are in the moderate to medium-high range. A typical main course cost $20-$25. The cuisine is exceptional, and for the quality of the preparation, the prices are very reasonable. They have a 20% discount for people going to ACT, if you show them your ticket."

  • "We stayed at the Prescott so we decided to give Postrio a try. Our server was great and our meals were excellent. The only note I caution you is that the menu online here and on other sites is different than what they are offering now. The menu is fairly limited and may be a tad adventurous for people who aren't used foodie spots. I had a steak and my wife had a very good pasta dish."

  • "Lighting was worse than awful. We could not read the menu at all because of lighting and very small print. Had to use my spouse's iPhone's flashlight. Menu narrow. Wine list unimpressive. Paid $11 for a glass or Stuhlmuller chardonnay that retails for $28 a bottle. On the bright side, server (forgot her name) and hostess, Jessica, were delightful."
