A word from Posto
Inspired to create a casual Italian restaurant in their own neighborhood, the culinary team behind Washington, DC’s award-winning Ristorante Tosca opened the doors to Posto, “a modern Italian place to meet,” in December 2008. It is located in a beautiful, century-old building (which at one time was a car dealership!) on the newly re-energized 14th St. NW – right next door to The Studio Theater, and just steps away from P St. and its hubbub of activity. As a proud new addition to the Logan Circle neighborhood, Posto serves classic and modern Italian dishes, and is the perfect place to drop in for a cocktail and a quick bite, or a multi-course meal shared with friends. A custom-built, wood-burning oven located in the back of the dining room entices guests with the smells of just-baked Neapolitan style pizzas and focaccia. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Food was excellent; service was excellent. Happy to be back at Posto. It's better than ever"

  • "Fabulous creative menu! Consistently good food. Serice attentive and pleasant."

  • "We've been to Posto many times but this was the last. The place has been on a downward trajectory for some time. Food was mediocre (the fresh fruit crumble for dessert was awful) and the service was haphazard. There's too many other options nearby to bother with this one again."

  • "Enjoyed this place. Food was wonderful. Funky urban atmosphere. Pasta and fish dishes were delucious"

  • "Could be more competitive on the wine prices but overall very good pasta and apps!"

  • "Had a nice dinner at Posto before a play at the studio. It's a shame that the pre theater dinner ends at 6:30! All four in our party enjoyed our food and drinks/wine and service was just right. Delicious bread and olive oil is a nice way to start the meal."

  • "Food and atmosphere is awesome. There were 3 waiters and a manger that kept serving us. This seems like it would be a good idea but we had to ask for things several times and sometimes delivered the wrong item. It was a slow night so I suppose everyone was slightly off their game. It happens. I'll definitely be back anyway!!"

  • "Had pre-theater dinner as we were going to Theater after. Service was very good -- friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the appetizers. Pasta dish was excellent. The branzino was a bit bland. Dessert choice of gelato or sorbet too limited. But I liked the informality of the place."

  • "The food is good, but some items, such as the pomodoro bruschetta (to small slices of bread with some chopped tomato for $8) are overpriced. Parking is a big problem in that area, and they don't have valet parking."

  • "Three out of four of us were pleased with our dishes, but one found his penne with crab meat "very bland." Ravioli was good. Pizza was good. Salads fresh and good. Overall, we were pleased."

  • "Pasta was delicious of course, Branzino was light and delightful. The pre theater menu offered an ideal selection at very reasonable pricing. A gem!"

  • "Always a favorite - just loud. Food, service, wine always great though."

  • "The space was beautiful. Huge, open, and charming. The food was delicious, and our waiter was very funny and charming. All in all my family had a great time. "

  • "La cucina è veramente buona. E' italiana in tutti i sensi, tranne il prezzo che è un pò alto. La quantità dell'antipasto con affettate è un pò scarsa. Tutto sommato sono molto soddisfatto."

  • "nice service but food was not great, especially for italian :-("

  • "We always eat here whenever we attend a performance at Studio Theater. It is uniformally excellent both in food and with service to be certain one gets to the theater in time for the curtain."

  • "I'm from DC and when I go to a restaurant, I expect just want I received at Posto: tasteful food with character, interesting variety and portions that don't leave you hungry and hour later. Their staff is attentive without hovering, they know their menu and the recommendations by our waitress were excellent. The environment is clean, not cramped, lively but we could still have a conversation around the table. We will return."

  • "The food was pretty good, but our waitress didn't put our order in right away and we waited for almost an hour to get it. I would have thought she would have comped us one of our drinks or dessert at least, but instead she just brought a very small glass of dessert wine that neither of us wanted because we had already had several drinks while we waited. When the food got there, it tasted ok, but the portions were so small that we actually had to go get something to eat somewhere else afterwards. For the prices charged, we at least expected to leave with a full stomach. This place was not worth the price."

  • "The bruschettas were delicious. I also liked how the waiter recommended a wine bottle that matched the food; not one that is in the expensive range."

  • "Regrettably, Posto has a new chef who stalks around the restaurant grandly grimacing and refuses to do half orders of pasta for which the restaurant is well known and loved. Posto should be looking for his replacement. Ruins the ambiance of the restaurant."

  • "Posto's food quality had slipped over the last year, but it's back to setting a standard. Each dish our group of five ordered was terrifically prepared."
    Dined on 5/15/2014
  • "I was surprised when they brought me the wrong dessert. It then took a while to get the right one and they did nothing to compensate me. Most places would not have charged for the dessert or given something else for free. "

  • "i took my husband and two friends to posto for his birthday. the service was attentive but not intrusive. we were able to have a good celebration, including a conversation. the food was delicious from the first course to dessert. everything had wonderful flavor and was fresh. we all finished our meal content. i would return and recommend it. even with the abundance of choices of restaurants on 14th street, posto stands out. • "Smoked salmon bruschetta was delicious. My veal ragu pasta was good though could be a slight softer. Have to thank the hostess and waiter for allowing us to sit outside though there was a threat of a storm. They didn't have to, but they did. Our waiter was attentive, quick with drinks and any requests. This is a reliable neighborhood restaurant for decently-priced italian. As a big guy who eats a lot, my pasta portion was the right amount."

  • "Service and food are outstanding. Scene is nice. "Hip" without being a turn off. Prices are reasonable given it is DC and the area of the restuarnat"

  • "Posto was a great pick for dinner while my mom was in town. Interesting appetizers like thinly sliced grapefruit and citruses with fresh calamari was fun to try and good to split with the table. Pizza was authentic (not drenched in cheese) and beautifully baked. The Hostess, Lisa, was amazing and accommodation! I'll be back for sure!"

  • "Went for the fourth time this weekend and really enjoyed it. Their service is great (efficient but not annoying/interrupting). Great salads, pastas, pizzas, and specials. The tiramisu is nice and light - we always have room for it. Have been with groups as large as 8 and also out for just 2 -- all have been good. The space is a bit noisy, so perhaps request to be closer to a wall if you don't want to talk over the din. "

  • "Posto served some delicious pasta dishes to our party. Mine was pasta with goat cheese and lamb meatballs, and it was fabulous!"

  • "You would think a hot restaurant on 14th St. wouldn't have kid friendly options, but they do! There are Pizze(a) and pasta sections that were great for my kid. So, while a popular busy place is not that place for every 8 yr old on a Friday night, this spot was perfect for all in our party. FYI - The food was great."

  • "We were at Posto on the evening a generous percentage of revenue was going to Food and Friends, a wonderful organization that we support. Despite a full dining room for the whole time we were there, the service was amicable and efficient. The creative menu featured Spring produce, and the stinging nettles stuffed ravioli were sublime. We have been to Posto numbers of times and the food remains among the most sophisticated of the dining spots on 14th street, but with a casual vibe. Despite the increasing neighborhood competition, Posto holds its own. Go now for the Spring menu and into summer for the chance to sit outside and watch the action on 14th St."

  • "Posto donated 50% of each check on Dining Out for Life night - that alone makes them Outstanding in my book and will bring me back again. My complements to Posto for having a menu that was filled with wonderful and authentic flavors. We really enjoyed the flavor of the bruschetta, though it was almost too hard to eat- the porcini was utter perfection!! I had the three meat ravioli, our server shared that was a favorite at the restaurant, and she was correct. The flavor combination was exquisite, and my friend had a fig salad that looked amazing too- she loved it. I then had a pizza and between the mushrooms, prosciutto, and mozzerella, it melted in your mouth. I would very much recommend Posto as a fine spot to dine in Logan Circle."

  • "Most restaurants should be measured on the food they serve and here at Posto the food was great. As it was a stormy night and on a Tuesday, the Restaurant appeared to be under-staff. Not withstand a short wait for our food, it was as good as it looked. The staff from the host to the manager to the wait staff were most accommodating - which made the evening that more pleasant. The restaurant also has a corkage policy - which is always a plus for my wife, I and our friends as we are all collectors and enjoy our wines with meals (as opposed to hit and miss with a Restaurant's selections). For a Washington DC Restaurant, the prices were quite reasonable. Without question we and our friends will return . "

  • "My friends and I really enjoyed our meal at Posto. The only downfall was the check. The food was delicious but a bit overpriced on both the food and beverage-side for what you actually receive. Overall, the service was great, food was great, and we were in walking distance of Lincoln Theater where we were seeing a show afterwards. We would return but perhaps be a bit more savvy on the budget end."

  • "our 10th or 11th dinner here - we were less enthralled this time: the Burrata salad was miniscule (barely enough for one person so don't even think of sharing it), but the pastas were excellent. Posto used to have a parking lot in the same block -- but you'll never find a parking space in the popular 14th Street corridor; the neighborhood has almost NO public garages, so getting there by car is a hassle. More importantly, there are now at least a handful of other superb Italian restaurants downtown (not really true when Posto opened) and given the uninteresting decor, EXCESSIVE noise level and sometimes indifferent or rushed service of Posto...it's frankly not as relatively attractive as it used to be. Still good but no longer exceptional."

  • "The food is very good. The cavatelli and lamb meat balls is one of my favorites. The rock fish was excellent........but the small portion left me hungry! I would still go back, howevert!"

  • "We went back within a week of our prior visit. It's a great neighborhood restaurant where the wait staff are attentive and the food is delicious. The portions are more than adequate and the drinks are well made. We'll be back."
