A word from Post 390
Post 390 puts a contemporary twist on seasonally inspired dishes that reflect Chef Eric Brennan’s passion for fresh ingredients and unforgettable flavors.
On the first floor is the Tavern: a casual but sophisticated menu and atmosphere, with a 25-seat bar and high top and banquette seating area, warmed by a beautiful four-sided fireplace. A massive wrought iron staircase connects the energy of the first floor with the Dining Room on the second floor.
Here, guests can have a more refined dining experience, and enjoy our large, open kitchen, wine displays, two private dining rooms, additional fireside dining and views of landmarks like Copley Place, Trinity Church and the Hancock Tower.
Located in the Clarendon Building, on the corner of Clarendon and Stuart Streets at the site of the former Back Bay Post Office Annex, Post 390 is perfectly situated within walking distance of the South End and Back Bay neighborhoods.

We went to Post 390 for my
husband's 45th Birthday with family and it was incredible. The food was amazing, service was outstanding and very friendly. Wish we lived closer so we could go more often! Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

Good food, but a little pricey.
Modern restaurant with an open kitchen, stainless steel bars, fire place, etc. Nice atmosphere."

We've been to Post 390 a number of
times and it doesn't matter if we just sit at the bar and have a small snack, or a full meal from the bar or dinner menus, or sit in the dining room -- the service and food is consistently excellent! That is the mark of a great restaurant. The food looks great on the plate, isn't an overwhelmingly large portion, and has excellent flavors! There were 6 of us this time and everyone's dish was excellent -- only two of us had dessert but that was very yummy.....the lemon souffle cake was quite airy and light and a wonderful end to the meal. Service was excellent, attentive, and not hovering or obtrusive. Highly recommend Post 390!"

I returned to have spontaneous
dinner with a friend / colleague. Although it was busy there were some tables available, however having a reservation never helps. Our server was discreet yet efficient, which was perfect. I would have LOVED the tasting menu they had that night ($48 3-course), everything looked so fresh but we were not so hungry. We had the crab cake, fried scallops, the ice cream sundae and the frozen key lime souffle (this was off the tasting menu). My friend had a pear martini which she said was good. Definitely not a let down, we fully enjoyed ourselves. We want to go back to enjoy the downstairs bar area."

Another bland restaurant in the
Back Bay for bland people with absent taste buds. Our waiter was bad, like he was picking up a shift here after his day job at Denny's. The suits walking around all night with ear buds were creepy and unnecessary. What was that about, anyway? Long delays between sitting and water service. Water and drink service. Drinks and ordering. Ordering and food. The food was not memorable, and I'm reminded of a dozen other places with food like this. The bread was good, though. Everytime we venture to the BB for dinner, we are sorry we left the South End. The food and service standards drop when you cross Columbus. It's like everyone's trying to impress someone, but they don't know how."

Real good food, service, and
ambience. Can be noisy, but the noise is fine in context. Great music too! Highly recommend!"

Our first time to Post 390 will
not be our last. Food was great; menu was exceptional for both the dining room and the bar. Raw bar items were extremely fresh and tasty. The charcuterie was varied and well-prepared. Service was also attentive and friendly; Matt had a great personality and was very helpful in recommending the cheeses to select for the charcuterie. All in all, a great dining experience."

Nice bar area on first floor with
fireplace to keep warm in the winters. Upstairs dinning area is nice too. Overall decor is good - simple and modern."
Dined on 2/11/2014
excellent food and service. Warm
fireplace was a great touch on a frigid day"
Dined on 2/16/2014
Started off well, salad was
outstanding, fresh greens, cheese crumbles, nuts and fresh raspberries, dressing was sublime. But steak and frites was not so much...fries over cooked steak not the best cut and not seasoned particularly well. Beer list is nice and I'll continue to keep Post 390 on the list when I'm in Copley Plaza."
Dined on 2/13/2014
We were seated in a small room
with 8 tables for two. This was away from the main dining room and was perfect for a quiet dinner and conversation. Servers were very attentive and the food was excellent. This evening featured a prix fixe dinner with plenty of choices for each course. We have been there several times and Post 390 continues to provide everything you want for a special evening out."

The ambiance at Post 390 is warm
and inviting with the warmth of fireplaces as you enter and throughout the restaurant.....A nice feeling when coming in from the windiest corner of Boston. The homemade bread basket arrived without butter and the bread tasted like American white bread in the shape of muffins. The lamb dish was delicious but the swordfish with mussels and octopus was satisfactory but not great....it didn't have any mussels. Overall it was a nice experience but dinner for 2 with lower priced wine and no appetizers, salads or dessert was $150.00 not including gratuity. I think there are other Boston restaurants where one would get better food for similar pricing. The bar scene is great!"

Food was delicious and we had the
best waiter you could ask for. Personable, friendly, helpful, but not too pushy or in your face. Highly recommend. And get the oysters"
Dined on 9/7/2013
my friend and i were disappointed
that they removed the smoked salmon from the menu. this meant that she could not get a bagel with salmon; and i could not get the eggs Benedict with salmon. both of us try to find lean choices for breakfast. instead, the waitress proudly announced "dessert-like" French toast or banana pancakes! as i am gluten free and my friend watches calories, so these were poor options. she also offered the 3-eggs with-home-fries--also a very caloric choice! when she left we turned to one another and said, "we need to find a new place to have brunch!""

Our group of four dined at Post
390 on a Saturday night. We were seated near the upstairs bar and the noise level and the distraction of having people stand over us while we were eating was not the best experience. The good was good but I really was looking forward to a great meal. I would return again but perhaps on a weeknight."

This is a favorite neighborhood
spot when we're in the mood for a nice dinner. It is not innexpensive, but the food is always excellent. They always have a great 3-course meal to choose from that's a great value -- and the wine pairings are nice. My only complaint is -- I don't eat meat and they add bacon or sausage to almost every fish dish, really limiting what I can order. They are a "farm to table" type restaurant, which is great but they've taken their partnership with a pig farm perhaps too far!"

We planned a work dinner here and
it was perfect! Booked online about 10 days in advance and everything was set for us. Ended up having a couple fewer than planned originally due to a snow storm and the team immediately adjusted for us. Great atmosphere, wonderful looking place on 2 floors, food was awesome, and service was spot on (not around all the time so as to be annoying, but there when needed). Highly recommend for both personal dinners or larger groups."

My girlfriends and I who had not
seen each other in over a year came here to dine. We had a nice reception; ordered a nice bottle of wine and then it went downhill from there. We were constantly interrupted every five minutes to get our order in.....we wanted to dine and enjoy our time together. Once we ordered, the food came PRONTO. Once we asked them to slow down our meals, etc. the waiter took offense to us. From there on in, we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable as it was apparent, they wanted to turn over the table again. We should have just had a drink here and dined elsewhere....."

we went to post 390 for a nice
dinner after a day of college visits. the front desk handled our request for a special reservation, and the view was nice from our upstairs dining room table. the waiter was efficient, though not overly friendly and the rest of the staff on the dining floor was quick to address questions or requests. the food took some time to come from the kitchen, but was quite worth the wait. excellent flavors in the dishes, not too overpowering sauces - nice meal. the green tea cake was a little dry, but the banana napoleon was excellent. in all, a very nice meal at a cool copley square spot."

This is an old one... Went to post
390 with friends and my fiancé who I'd been with for four years... Had the worlds biggest fight and moved out the next week... The food? Oh right... Amazing! What will I remember? The hysterical waiter and the swordfish obviously... Bar area is amazingly beautiful and is a great place to start a fight with your fiancé over cocktails before your friends arrive... Also the bathroom/wine room is BEAUTIFUL and perfect for crying in"

We had the New England Fish
Tasting menu with wine pairing and it was superb! Loved the cosy atmosphere on a very cold night. The view is striking as well"

Post 390 lived up to the hype.
Amazing food, large selection of signature cocktails, great wine and beer list. Already recommended to friends and will definitely go back."

Tried to go here for a sunday late
lunch. Will never go back. We had a reservation for 3 people (2 plus an infant in a car seat). When we arrived the hostess told us there were no tables available that would be appropriate for the car seat. They only had high-table at the bar. However, there were at least 7 suitable low table that were unoccupied. I asked the hostess, "Can we sit there?" "No, those tables are reserved." "But we have a reservation. "No, you can not sit their those table are reserved." "But we have a reservation too". I dont know what it was...but for some reason...everyone else could have a reservation and have a table but the people with the baby were told there was no room for them. We left, and will never go back."

Last minute booking for saturday
night supper on a holiday weekend. Parking available down street for $10. We arrived 10 mins early and seated us right away. Menu is full of culinary treats and the wine list exciting - some excellent grad cru's available at very reasonable prices, and NV champagne at <$90 a bottle. Food was impeccably presented, and waitstaff were attentive. Menu is funky and also has organic 'market to table' options. Subtle flavors abound -e.g brussell sprouts with bacon, roasted salmon with nut glaze. Will definitely return - great spot for small groups. Food is foodie quality and ambience is vibrant yet relaxed, catering for mid to upmarket professional clientele without being pretentious."

We have been here a few times in
the past but this was our best meal yet at Post 390. The menu was more seafood focused than on previous visits and that was a good thing. I got a monk fish dish that was really spectacular and my wife got a lobster dish that was equally impressive. Our friend got short ribs that he really enjoyed as well. The staff was attentive and knowledgable but not stuffy or pretentious and able to crack the occasional joke or two which added to our enjoyment. We have always enjoyed our visits to Post 390 in the past but whatever changes they have made have been for the best and this truly was our best meal yet. We will always recommend this spot to friends, family or anyone that is looking for a great meal."

Went to Post 390 to celebrate my
husband's bday. The warmth of the tavern was a welcome respite from the blustery night. Lots of decisions to be made here. To start with - drinks. My husband & I are typically extra dry martini people, but we were sucked in by the creative drink menu. Lavendar-thyme gimlet? Yum. Bacon bourbon? Weirdly delish. Next comes food. Tavern menu? Diningroom menu? Prix fixe menu? I ended up with a lobster roll. My husband & daughter had the salmon burger & my son ordered steak & fries from the really excellent kids' menu. The kids' menu is worth noting. We like it when a kids' menu has "grown up food" in smaller portions, rather than junky kid food. In the end we were all satisfied & way too full for dessert."

Enjoyed a recent lunch here. Good
lobster roll and great slaw. Fast efficient service !"

Great location mixed with good
food and ambience. Service is always attentive, this restaurant is consistent"

We went here because it was close
to the theater as we were going to a show. It got good reviews for the most part so I figured why not? Menu was very limited. Sirloin was very good but short ribs were flavorless and blah. One of us actually said she couldn't eat the short rib because she didn't like it and the waiter didn't offer to take it away and get something else. No manager in sight. We ordered dessert which was very good. Oysters were very good. However, appetizers and dessert were not worth going back. I think this would've be a better place to go sit at the bar for drinks and appetizers. Regardless, they did get us in and out of there in time to see our play for which we were grateful."

Great wine and cocktail list. Had
nice ambiance. Post 390 has a rustic, modern aesthetic and great lighting for dining. Fire pits were a nice addition to our cold winter night dinner, as well. Food was great. From the start with fresh briny oysters and fried green tomato salad to the Lamb Chops. It was all perfectly cooked and delicious. I make it a point to order lamb at almost every restaurant I go to at least once and was glad I did here. Although I can't rate it higher than its sister restaurant Grill 23, I put it at close second, above Capitol Grill and Bricco and Post 390 isn't even a steak house style restaurant. Wish I had made room for dessert but I guess there is always next time."

Our first time here and we found
great food and wonderful service. The drinks were well made and the atmosphere was great for a nice comfortable meal. Definitely going back."

Great selection of drinks- I had
the pear drink martini and my boyfriend had the Scotsman in NY. Service was fantastic, setting was romantic. Couldn't have asked for a better NYE dinner, this place gets 5 stars."

comfortable and easy going dinner
- not too stuffy yet, interesting enough to feel appropriate for a date…."

We were there with four people and
everyone's appetizer, main course and two desserts were superb. Beer list is AMAZING. Wine was wonderful. Can't wait to go back."

sensational. The service superb and the food is amazing. Much of the food is from local farms and is fixed impeccably. Love it there!"
