Post 390 puts a contemporary twist on seasonally inspired dishes that reflect Chef Eric Brennan’s passion for fresh ingredients and unforgettable flavors.
On the first floor is the Tavern: a casual but sophisticated menu and atmosphere, with a 25-seat bar and high top and banquette seating area, warmed by a beautiful four-sided fireplace. A massive wrought iron staircase connects the energy of the first floor with the Dining Room on the second floor.
Here, guests can have a more refined dining experience, and enjoy our large, open kitchen, wine displays, two private dining rooms, additional fireside dining and views of landmarks like Copley Place, Trinity Church and the Hancock Tower.
Located in the Clarendon Building, on the corner of Clarendon and Stuart Streets at the site of the former Back Bay Post Office Annex, Post 390 is perfectly situated within walking distance of the South End and Back Bay neighborhoods.

Together with dining companions who raise finicky eating to an art form, we had three course meals that produced empty plates and smiles all around. Go there!"

The striped bass entree was excellent...fava beans and corn served with the fish were perfect. Loved the imaginative desserts especially the ricotta key lime pie with popcorn ice cream."

They have mastered the art of being helpful without interfering with our celebration lunch. It can be a bit pricey, but worth it for special occasions or the occasional treat!"

It was't terrible...it wasn't anything. Nice place and nice people but the rest was forgettable. It has great places for groups (nice little 10-12 person rooms) if you don't care about what you eat. Also when you say "crab cakes" on the menu, there should be more than one, tiny crab cake."

  • "What a fabulous meal. We won a gift certificate to Post 390 in a silent auction at a charity event and I'm so glad we did, as we hadn't yet ventured to this romantic spot right in our neighborhood. We were seated at the window on the second floor and had a beautiful view of Trinity Church. Not only was the food incredible (very farm-to-table feel), but the service was spot on. Both our waiter and the sommelier gave great recommendations that helped make the night. We will definitely be back!"

We went downstairs for a drink and the bartender was engaging and made outstanding recommendations based upon their available products. My one complaint is that you don't have to reinvent the classics. The Ceasar Salad should have anchovies, the kind that look like salty eyebrows. The sardine is not a good substitute."

  • "Watching Chef run the open kitchen like a well oiled machine was a treat, everyone made sure each dish was perfect before it was served. All staff seemed to work as a team and care about the end result and customer experience. Halibut was out of this world. Our 12 year old is quite the foodie, she started with raw oysters, then steak and fingerling potatoes in duck fat, she even got a picture with the staff. I loved my crab cake. Cauliflower was good but not our favorite. Highly recommend. "

  • "I had an 8:30 pm reservation. 1 of 3 hostesses told me they were preparing our table. 15 mins go by, and I inquire, 1 says, "they're lingering" as in referencing customers who supposedly had been holding up our table. The hostesses purposely averted their eyes as they walked past us. At 9 pm, we were brought to a table (empty the entire time), in addition to another table for 4 that was available the ENTIRE TIME/done deliberately to drive customers to the bar. If you politely wait for your table, they are rude. Even after we sat down, not once did a hostess ever apologize/come over to check on our service. Food was meh to average. I've had dined here before and had an overdone steak but I was willing to give it another shot. HUGE MISTAKE. "

Even if we were never asked if we wanted another cocktail or dessert. We eventually had to flag someone down to get our check and never saw our server again. We will never return. "

  • "The cocktails were great and inventive. I got the Provencal Gimlet, which was amazing. I would go back for that drink alone. Everyone else got basic cocktails or wine. For the food - this is where it's a bit "meh". The biscuits were amazing. Buttery, salty, with a tinge of sweetness. I got the halibut which was served with spring vegetables, and a side of the beer battered cauliflower (which were like croquets or fritters). Both were good, but not outstanding or anything that made me say wow. A couple people got the chicken, which is a good dish for the less adventurous, and they had the same reaction as me. Good, not great. They have one vegetarian dish, which my friend said was not good. Needed to add a ton of salt and pepper."

Her pork entree looked and tasted delicious. We stayed for drinks at the bar which was more than suitable for the night we wanted: chill, laidback, good eats/drinks. I'd recommend this place for a decent meal, good ambiance for a group of people."

  • "Highlights. Fresh popovers instead of bread with salty tops, piping hot, melted in my mouth. The Pear drink cocktail with spiced rum was exquisite. My wife's salmon was amazing. Finished with chocolate bread pudding with espresso semifredo (I think), one of the best desserts I've ever had. But. Five different people served us, which was the waiter? I don't know. That took away from the personal touch. There were rather long gaps where nobody came by and we could have used a drink refresh. My ravioli was very good but not $30 good. I left some on the plate. By contrast at Ala Strada I practically lick the plate clean."

They say the menu differs from upstairs- a quieter seating which sounded fancier and more romantic- but we were able to order from that menu as well. Like, I asked for a veggie side with my meal and was limited with the downstairs kitchen but was offered asparagus from upstairs- so that was nice. We ordered the oysters and chose from a variety of 4 kinds. Very fresh and tasty! We also had the Pig Appetizer which had this amazing sauce. The Burger was fantastic- made perfectly. And for dessert had a trio of ice cream scoops with different crunchy and chocolate toppings on a graham cracker base - perfect for sharing with our party of 3. "

  • "I don't know what more could have gone wrong. From the rude and curt calls to 'confirm' my reservation, while I CONSTANTLY reminded the occasion was my brother's birthday and my parent's 40th anniversary to put the restaurant on notice, and instead received a disinterested, disorganized staff (we had no idea who our waiter was, he never introduced himself), my brother and mother's entrees were raw (and were never asked how they liked it cooked), our glasses were empty for toasts (where did our wine go?!) it was terrible on the restaurant's part, given the restaurant wasn't even full, and when specifically asked for a cozy intimate location (there IS a fireplace), we were put square in the middle facing the kitchen. Shameful. "
