My group of 7 had an overall positive experience. This is a good solid restaurant but nothing stands out particularly as "extra good". Food is fine, service is fine, ambiance is okay. Noise is not overwhelming. I would bring a group here again.

Despite dining room reservation seated in tavern because of private party in dining room. Server pushed dining room menu with higher prices. Food was mediocre and over cooked. Would not recommend.

From beginning to end the greeting from the Hostess & G.M. was very genuine. The server "Mac" was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and how the food was prepared. The food was exceptional with a great presentation. However the next day I noticed that my vehicle that I valet had been damaged. I reached out to the G.M., the Valet service & the V.P. of Himmel; Paul Dias. By the end of the day, I will say that there was great follow up by the valet company & the G.M.; however it was very disappointing that I never received a response from the V.P. Paul Dias from The Himmel Group.

Appetizers were just decent. Salad was very blah and disappointing. Pork entrée was delicious. Desserts were not that impressive. ice cream sundae consisted of two scoops and a little hot fudge on the side. I would think there would be a tad more effort at a place like this. Service was good but felt they rushed us at the end of the meal and when someone in a party wanted some baileys in their espresso martini, the server didn't feel the need to accommodate. Give the espresso martini a solid B though, if you like it dark.

Service was slow an inefficient. We were in there 35 minutes before we managed to get a drink (first bottle we chose was out of stock and took us ages to get out waiters attention to re-order.) food actually came out before we got our drink. Waiter was totally inattentive - don't think we saw him again after we ordered. Bill was plonked on our table without interaction from waiter. Nice place but the service needs work.

Post 390 hit the nail on the head in every aspect of their menu. The cocktails, wine list, appetizers, meals and dessert were all fabulous! My husband started with a unique bourbon cocktail while I enjoyed a half-bottle of Pinot Grigio. We shared the smoked shoulder pot-stickers and littleneck clams, both fresh and delicious. For our main course, I ordered the butternut brown sugar salmon while he had duck breast. Both were well-cooked, different, and very good. The best part was dessert...a traditional cookie jar with 3 of the best orange chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! Definitely would visit again and recommend to a friend.

This place was pretty awesome. My boyfriend and I sat upstairs near the corner windows- it was neat to be able to see the lights and the busy street. The decor inside was also cool. The staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. We got the poke to start, no comparison to poke in Hawaii but still delicious. I got the salmon and my boyfriend got the swordfish for an entree. Both very yummy. I would highly recommend this place and definitely go back

We eat here regularly after attending the plays at Lyric Stage, and never have had a meal that wasn't outstanding in every way. The whole fish preparation is always a hit at our table. The "spaghetti" of pasta and zucchini and a tomato tartelette appetizer were first rate. This has been a consistently excellent place to dine. Our servers have been knowledgable and helpful.

We started with oysters - they were briny and tasted like the ocean. We also had the fried green tomatoes - mine needed a little more cooking time. The Jonah crab claws were really good and fresh as was the crab cake. The swordfish was supposed to be with mussels and octopus - I did not detect either one in my dish. We sent the first cava back - steely and not to our taste - and they accommodated us with a glass of prosecco. Our waitress disappeared for a while, the crab claws came after the entrees, timing was just a little off. All in all a good accommodating restaurant but not the experience we were hoping for.

We were dining upstairs, but the bar was so cozy, with a blazing fire, that we were tempted to stay. Upstairs, we tucked into a basket of fabulous warm Parker House rolls. Sadly, they were out of the trout, so I had the bacon brined heritage pork which was sensational. Tender, juicy, flavorful, with a perfect accompaniment of poached peaches. My husband loved the pan roasted halibut with artichokes and mushrooms, and my son enjoyed the house special bbq, beef cheeks, from the tavern menu -a weird choice for BBQ, but delicious and meltingly tender, although the portion was rather small. The S'mores ice cream dessert was a treat.Service was friendly and attentive. We'll be back.

Went here on a date because my girlfriend and I saw that the former chef here was on the Food Network, so we decided we had to give it a try. The restaurant itself is very nice, fairly quiet early on a Saturday night. We did oysters, entrees, dessert and coffee. The oysters were delicious, we tried all four types. For entrees I got the swordfish on a bed of white beans and my date got the arugula ravioli. Of the two, the ravioli was better, and I was a bit disappointed with the swordfish. Just seemed very standard, nothing special. Dessert was an almond cake with butter ice cream which was delicious, and the coffee was surprisingly good as well. Overall, a good place to get dinner if you're alright with spending a few bucks. Service=awesome

Tried the special menu for Boston Rest. Week - kudos to Post 390 for not downsizing portions or cutting corners to fit the reduced $. Service was attentive, food was well-prepared and presented, served at correct temps, ingredients seemed top-notch. For starters, the corn bisque was impressive for a usually ordinary soup - perfect heat from spice and the small bay scallops were a nice flourish. The coffee crusted duck breast was served perfect medium-rare with a nice accompaniment of nectarines, goat cheese, and prosciutto. My table mate had the fried clams and hake - both excellent. Perfect ambience on a Monday evening - busy, not packed. I'll be back. Even at full price, this place is one of the better values in the Boston dining scene.
