Diner Reviews
  • "We eat here every time we go to the Ritz 5. There are nice secluded tables overlooking Walnut Street that are much quieter than the main room. Eating at the bar is also a great option. The wine selection by the glass or quartino is excellent and small plate for pasta are perfect. Try roasted octopus, artichoke salad, vegetable ravioli to name a few. The servers are also very attentive without being in your face. Great place. Minor quibble too much oil and/or butter/cream in some dishes."

  • "I was really looking forward to dining here. Great looking place and menu had a lot of great sounding dishes. I ordered the special Halibut. It was too expensive for the very small portion. 3 stone crabs as an appetizer was $22. Too noisy with a wedding, and a large group of 20 in the same room where I was, and also a rehearsal dinner. We were rushed through dinner never asked us if we wanted a second drink or dessert or coffee. Won't be back."

  • "This was a very nice, clean well organized restaurant. It had a great vibe, well designed, great service and fantastic food. I celebrated my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend and she loved it! We will come back soon! Thank you!"

  • "felt a cold coming on & while Happy Hour had some good prices on drinks, cold meds stopped me from having a cocktail Had cranberry juice & bartender said "How can I charge you for that?" Gave a handsome tip...& went on to dinner. Appetizers tasty..nothing left over...wish more would have come out.. they were delish Been here many times, never disappoints..pasta good & view interesting. Old city is good other than for tourists.."

  • "This restaurant has consistently great food at very reasonable prices in a most pleasant surrounding. The artichoke salad and soup are great .... the sides delicious, and main dishes tasy. What's there not to love??"

  • "fish was so so. veggies underneath it were mushy with very little flavor. Would not recommend to others. Service was ok and pleasant."

  • "Food was nothing special. Restaurant is decorated really oddly. The crowd was strange. Just didnt like much of our evening here. Service was ok, but definitely not properly trained. All the food was pretty mediocre. In a city filled with amazing italian food, this one doesnt really stand out. The price point here is pretty good though, so thats always a plus."

  • "We were at the Sheraton for a professional meeting and dined two times at Positano Coast. The first for dinner, the second for a late lunch. Both the food and service were excellent. A great feature is the small plates. For our late lunch we had antipasto and small plates. The server patiently spent time explaining all our options to our party of six. All the pasta dishes were authentic and plentiful. Try the frito misto. A great dining experience."

  • "We were at a conference nearby and just happened on this restaurant. It was very good. A great menu with creative unique selections that were all very good. The decor made you feel like you were on the Italian coast. The server was excellent, very attentive to our needs and very friendly. We really enjoyed the evening. I will definitely stop in the next time I am in Philly."

  • "Exquisite Italian fare in beautiful decor right in the heart of Soceity Hill. Will always remember if fondly as the site of my 60th birthday party five years ago and especially now since the food has improved upon what was excellent then! As a resident of Society Hill and now Chester County for over 40 years it will always remain on top of my recommend list. The archichoke salad was superb and the eggplant Napoleon is just like I would make it."

  • "We had a nice experience. The food was good and the service was good. I did hear a server at another table explaining all the specials; but we had no specials explained to us. The food was good, but they should offer more for vegetarians or vegans."

  • "The cooking is quite average. I had the sesame crusted tuna. I have had this in may restaurants all over the United States, so I know what a good one SHOULD taste like. This did not wow me, not even close. The creme brulee (French dish in an Italian restaurant, I won't complain) was good."

  • "We have been to Aldo Lamberti in NJ and love it- same goes for this place! The food options were perfect portions and the prices were really good for what we got. I am looking forward to going back in the summer because this is a 2nd floor restaurant that looks like it is open when the weather is nice. Wine selection was good as well."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant well lit and beautifully decorated. Be sure to check out the majoilica plate collection hung on the walls throughout the restaurant. The food was spectacular I had the mussels to begin and they are in a broth that includes chorizo which is different from any I have had elsewhere they were wonderful. My wife had the crusted Mahi which she thoroughly enjoyed. I have saved the best for last. Please order the sea urchin pasta it was memorable this dish is reason enough to return to Philadelphia."

  • "Having returned from Positano, Italy in September 2013, it was very gratifying to find your restaurant on our first visit to the Philadelphia Flower Show. The decor made us feel we were close to the "real" place. Excellent experience. I would highly recommend visiting both the town of Positano and the restaurant in Philadelphia. Food was excellent"

  • "We eat regularly at Positano, and are never disappointed. The food is interesting, fresh, and varied. The bartenders are creative, and the bar scene is lively as a result. The fish is first rate, as is the wait staff. All good."

  • "Took my fiancee here for Valentine's dinner. The waiter was timely and checked up on us appropriately. Food was great, the buffalo mozzarella appetizer was especially delicious. Salmon was cooked just right and the pasta entrees were really good."

  • "Very good meal for Valentine's Day. Surprisingly good for a place located near the touristy places. Nice atmosphere, very good food and wonderful service. Grilled calamari superb. Rack of lamb should be three double chops instead of single ones...a little skimpy...but prepared perfectly. My husband's Mahi-Mahi was delicious. Tiramisu for desert was excellent."

  • "After arriving early for the reservation and checking in with the hostess, we went to the bar for a drink. Unfortunately, the hostess forgot about us, and I had to make sure the hostess hadn't given our table away. As soon as I asked, we were seated, so it worked out fine. The menu had so many delicious sounding options, but I went with the Mahi, and made a great decision. The spaghetti bolognese was also excellent. Service was wonderful, and the evening went very well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "I took my partner here for Valentine's Day and we both had an outstanding dinner from start to finish. The champagne and oyster pairings were a wonderful start, the appetizers were delicious, and the entrees were outstanding. The dishes were beautifully presented and the servings were just the right size. I heartily recommend it!"

  • "My boyfriend and I waited until the last minute to make a reservation for dinner on valentines day but were thrilled to find that Positano Coast has a 9pm available. We arrived at 9:10 for our 9pm reservation and were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was obviously busy as the restaurant was packed but he was very attentive and polite. They had a special valentines day menu and we started with octopus which was AMAZING and then I had the branzino and my boyfriend had the seafood risotto. All the food came out quickly and was delicious. We finished with the tiramisu, also awesome. All in all, the meal was quite lovely and we were so pleased to have ended up at such a great restaurant even at the last minute. will definitely be back!"

  • "The kitchen and staff did an excellent job of having us out in 45 minutes . That was our request as we were running late and had theater tickets. We were not shoving it down. All food came out more or less together, which was perfect as we shared faro salad, grilled octopus and branzino. The lemon drop martinis got us through the entire meal and served as a great dessert.. Now please go and don't rush but it is an efficient kitchen."

  • "I have been to Aldo Lamberti's resturant in Cherry Hill, and never cease to be amazed. I had been wanting to check out Positano Coast and was sorely disappointed. My husband and I were seated at a table in an area without any other diners. Because we were so far away, the service was very slow- I think we waited about 15 mintues between when the dessert menu was delivered and when he came to take the order. We typically get after dinner drinks and dessert, but at that point we just wanted to leave. We ordered the crabmeat tacos for an appetizer, they were good. The entrees were okay, my husband's crabcake was burnt on the bottom. Decor was great, music was a little too loud. We will most definitely not be returning for dinner."

  • "Great food, great attention, great accommodations - not a single complaint. Went with 11 people, they gave us wine bags with ice since it was bring your own wine day (Sundays). We had seating away from other people, so felt free to talk and like we had the place to ourselves. All of the food was amazing. Portions just about right, for what you expect."

  • "We decided to try this restaurant for Restaurant week lunch- which was $20 pp. When we got to the Restaurant and saw the menu options it appeared that there were few and basically you got free dessert (using regular menu). We opted for the Panninis (with GREAT fries!) for just $9.00 each. The sandwiches were tasty though a lot of bread vs meat proportion. We might go back for lunch sandwiches again one day but it was nothing "special" in our opinion. And the RW menu was not creative or a bargain In my opinion"

  • "Went here prior to going to play. It was restaurant week in Philly. At Aldo's Postino site it was $35 for four courses. A good value. My food was good. My wife's was less so. Squid ink pasta with sea urchin and crabmeat. Too exotic for her."

  • "I went for restaurant week with two friends and this place was lovely!! Great food! My favorite was the veal. Very delicious and filling unlike some designer meals that you can get during restaurant week. They also had a great pisco drink! I'd definitely recommend it."
