Portucale Restaurant reviews from OpenTable diners

    OpenTable Diner Since 2013
    Dined on 3/9/2013
This restaurant is about the bar scene, not the dining room. The waiter while nice, did not know what the Portucale sauce was--the house special sauce that appeared throughtout the menu. We stopped asking questions after that. The fire detector went off throughout our meal. No effort was made to apologize for this as management was in the other room (the bar) and that room was buzzing with patrons and already loud. Wecouldn't leave fast enough. The meat was horrible. They use poor cuts. The seafood dishes were excellent, particularly the house clam appetizer and the paella. The sangria was terrific and thank goodness for it.

Apparently this was a slow night because we were initially alone and then one other couple came in and that was it for the night, although there were several patrons sitting at the bar, which was separate from the dining room. There was lots of choices on the menu and helpful descriptions were given. The food was tasty and quite plentiful (the salad was huge and was definitley not meant for just one person). The service was very good.
