  • Great lobster ravioli

My husband and I went here while we were in Vegas. It's a really nice restaurant in Mirage, so it was perfect for 'before the show.' There were many interesting (and most likely delicious) menu items including osso bucco and a bronzini fish dish, but we went with the lobster ravioli. This was a well prepared entree, with a delicate and well seasoned sauce that we both enjoyed.

If you are expecting to have the normal fare that you would get at Olive Garden this place is not for you... However, if you like to try different items and are not expecting pasta then you will love this place.

We ate here on October 9, 2014 before the Beatles Love show and it was great! The food and service was great, I had the Burrata Agnolotti and it was wonderful. My husband had the Meatballs and shared my dish. One of our parties ordered a steak dinner and they were out of it so the waiter came back and said he could have anything on the menu and it was on the house because they didn't have what he choose. That was great!! Yes, it was a great dining experience for us.

Our waiter had to cover a large area and so our wine was served with the entrees instead of with the appetizers. He was so apologetic for the mix-up that he immediately "comp'd" us a 2nd pour on our wines as well as free desserts.

Italian fare with a contemporary touch that makes the food fresh, light and complex. The Pinot Grigrio Mojito was delightful. The manager and chef both came out to welcome us and gave us interesting information on the wine we selected and their famous Burrata cheese. I would dine here again and highly recommend this restaurant to all.

I asked the waiter if they could make changes. Asked that it be prepared with Olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and Parm cheese. It came tomato sauce with pop corn shrimp. Pop corn shrimp at $30.00. Retail pop corn shrimp is $3.99#. When I asked the waiter about my request, he replied this is what the chief made. Since I was entertaining three customers, I did not complain further. However, I was at the casino entertaining nightly for four more days and did not book at Poroifino again.

We've had fantastic dining experiences in Las Vegas and our visit to Portofino tops the list. The personal attention we received from general manager Chris Zadie and the rest of the staff was over the top great....passionate but not pretentious. The pasta is made fresh, cooked to order, and the chef is happy to do half or quarter orders to enable you to sample more of the menu. The goat cheese fill squash blossoms that accompany the meatballs are other worldly. The lamb ragu in the Ripatelli (a name the chef made up for this pasta) fantastic. Honestly the best Italian food we have had outside of Italy. Highly recommended.

I took my wife to see Terry Fator and dinner at the Portofino prior to the show. Food was outstanding as was the table location (made reservations) and service. I had the snapper in a bag. One of the best meals I've had. Tiramisu was the best we've both had, ever.

My wife and I were expecting a good meal based upon the reviews of Portofino that we had already read, but the reality far exceeded our expectations. Executive Chef Michael LaPlaca uses some special breading on the calamari that made it incomparable to any I've had before in cities ranging from San Francisco to New York. The scallops were succulent and the lasagna was like no other we've tried. The presentation was memorable. The service was very prompt and staff were exceedingly courteous. I strongly recommend the Cannoli-Napolean for dessert. The overall ambiance was soft and romantic. We look forward to dining at Portofino on our next trip to Las Vegas. Don't miss out on this great opportunity for a moderately priced great meal!

A group of 8 business friends had a disappointing experience at Portofino. The food was OK--some meals were even quite good but the service was very slow and impersonal. It took several minutes before we had any attention whatsoever and then it took a long time for two bottles of wine to be brought to the table. When glasses were empty, we had to self-serve wine (walking across the room to the wine bucket for the white) all evening because nobody ever came around to pour. Not what we expected of a restaurant of this caliber. In fairness, my husband and I ate at the bar the prior evening and it was GREAT. Raul, the bartender, was excellent and remembered us the next evening. Too bad that the dining room didn't measure up.

My girl friend and I went here for a special dinner while we where on vacation, the restaurant hosts had told us the previous day that a reservation is pretty much required so we set one up with the hostess for the next day. The dining area itself has a touch of class which would have you believing you'll been in for a fine dining treat...however that's where the good part ends and the bad begins. The complimentary bread was cold and hard or in the words of my girlfriend it was "stale". We ordered lasagna, scallops and a crab cake appetizer - we assumed we would get two cakes since appetizers are made for sharing but you only get one. Lasagna sauce tasted like cheap tomato soup and the scallops where over cooked.

Had a group dinner here - even though the restaurant was fairly empty, service was very slow. It took close to an hour for us to get our dinners and in-between ordering and being served, we rarely saw our waiter. The food was delicious though, so I would recommend it and just mention that you shouldn't expect to go anywhere in a hurry from here.

Restaurant was everything I could ever expect from an authentic Italian restaurant. The staff was professional and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful meal at Portofino - the food was better than expected, and the sommelier/general manager hooked us up with a very nice bottle of wine at a discount. Our waiter could have used a bit more polish - we asked him about the meatball appetizer when it arrived, and he said "oh, we make that with scraps from the steak house". Hmmm... Anyway they were delicious, as were the scallops and the lobster agnolotti. A very nice dining experience.

We visited Las Vegas and stayed at the Mirage. For our anniversary we wanted to eat in our hotel as we were attending the LOVE show later in the evening. We chose Portofino because we love Italian food. I got the ravioli with lobster and chanterelles and I am sad to say that I got 4 tiny tiny slivers of over cooked lobster and 1 piece of mushroom the size of my fingernail. My husband got the osso bucco and it was very salty. No appetizers, no drinks and a wonderful tiramisu cost over $100.00, I guess it comes to be expected in Las Vegas.

We decided to change a restaurant reservation at the last minute and found Portofino at the Mirage where we were staying. The service started out slow (the waiter had 2 large parties & we were only a party of 2). We spoke to the host and it was a 180 degree turnaround. The food was delicious and it was obvious a lot of thought went into the preparation. We ended up having a fantastic dinner and a very pleasant experience. Portofino will be on our list of restaurants in Las Vegas from now on.

Had dinner with my folks there after a show at the Mirage. Was towards the end of dinner service and thought we were going to be rushed through our meal but we were given all the time in the world to enjoy our experience (I'm a culinary student and work in a restaurant so I know what it's like to be patiently waiting for guests to leave). Excellent/amazing food and we even were greated by the executive chef which was a very nice touch. Fresh homemade pasta and my mom's salmon was incredible. If you're in Vegas a must stop for dinner.

The food was delicious, but not extraordinary so. What really struck was a great selection of Italian wines. Their list is impressive indeed! An Asian guy was walking around the hall and was pouring water from a carafe into glasses without notice. That it is very nice, of course, if you ordered tap water, but less so if you are drinking Acqua Panna.
