PortofinoBeautiful restaurant withBeautiful restaurant with good ambiance. We have had several fine meals there. We have a favorite server there and the others are also knowledgeable. The food is really excellent and the wine list is great.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Mother's Day DinnerWe had a superb Mother's Day lunch at Portofino! Our group ended up being larger than we originally expected, but we called ahead and they were very kind to accommodate us. (Good thing we called too because they were busy!) Most of us stuck to the specials menu, which was out of this world (especially the appetizer special)!! Our server also did an excellent job, he was timely and seemed to gave us just the right amount of attention. We will definitely be back again!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommend 100%Loved the food! The bruschetta appetizer was amazing! I had the seared tuna for my meal and it was so delicious and cooked perfectly! Two in our group got pasta which they really liked. My husband got the beef medalions and did not care for them- but of the menu- that was the last item I would have ordered. They had great wine to choose from and great bourbon as well. My husband and friend had the Pappy Van Winkle bourbon flight with 4 different tastes. That was really fun for them. A must try in downtown Lexington!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service by ourThe food and service by our waiter, Michael, were both outstanding. Would definitely return on my next visit to Lexington.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceThe service was friendly, relaxed and efficient. This was the night of the UK graduation and Portofino was ready for the occassion.
Everyone loved their selected dish.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood meal, over pricedGood meal & service. However the prices were too high for the offerings. There was nothing on the menu overly extravagant, complex, or rare to justify the pricing.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! This restaurant is the complete package - great food, service and atmosphere.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Traveling GourmetPros: Exceptionally delicious and unique specials. Excellent service.
Cons: Surprised to see TV's on the walls. After all, this is NOT a "Sports Bar", but supposedly a fine restaurant. Perhaps the locals insist on video as Lexington is a college sports town & Keenland was running.
Two entrees with glasses of wine plus tip easily runs a hundred. With appetizers, salads & deserts and coffee possibly twice that.
Worth it? Once or twice a year....Yes!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for romantic dates withGreat for romantic dates with an awesome outdoor dining experience.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service, wine and foodThe service, wine and food were perfect - this is a real gem in Lexington, KY4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWhenever we visit LexingtonWhenever we visit Lexington Portofino's is number one on our list.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe server was experienced. The server was experienced. He made very good recommendations and we were all please with his choices.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDINING HIGHLIGHT OF LEXINGTONPortofino is excellent for hosting friends come to town, special occasions, and business meetings. Setting is formal but romantic, modern but warm, well lit but mood lighting makes you feel like your table is secluded and special. The staff and service is excellent, and the food is amazing. Entrees: beauty of the dishes match the taste. Though a full 5 course is expensive, it is well worth it. For smaller budgets enjoy an amazing antipasti (recommend blue cheese flatbread or bruschetta), wine, and salads: excellent for lunch, or to be shared w/friends late night. My girlfriend and I have been here multiple times always trying new dishes: EVERY dish tried is phenomenal. Highlight of Lexington & Favorite in KY. Will continue to return!
