Our server overheard me me comment that I was having a difficult time finding anything on the menu that I liked, and he volunteered that the chef was willing to cook more traditional fare to order. So that's what we did... swapped the sauce on a pasta menu item for a more traditional alfredo sauce, and my tummy was happy. Although it was a warm evening, we opted to dine on their outdoor patio. We enjoyed a cool breeze, and the mosquitoes enjoyed my husband. Spotted some 'Off' spray at the server station as we left. Could have used some ourselves. Oh well, we still enjoyed the meal."

  • "This was our third visit to Portofino. This time we brought along friends. As before, our high expectations were met or exceeded. Ashleigh is a solid server, and she handles my "old-guy" sense of humor gracefully. My black fettuccini vongole was excellent indeed, and my wife's grilled trout was just right. Spaghetti squash was a nice seasonal side."

  • "I was disappointed with the quality of the food at Portofino. My artichoke appetizer was very good, but I found the food presentation average for the price and the quality of the food. I think it is important for restaurants to use local items and when I asked the server where the trout is from he shared it was from Panama. For a GA restaurant to serve trout from Panama when our rivers and lakes are plentiful of trout is shocking. I can only imagine where this restaurant may cut back more. The restaurant's decor is a nice, neighborhoody feel to it and I love the outdoor patio, but food quality is very important to me and I was very disappointed to pay $23 for trout from Panama in Georgia. Our server, Kent, was friendly and professional."

  • "This restaurant has gone downhill. to begin with, compared to the in-restaurant menu, their website dinner menu has approximately twice as many entrees listed and twice as many pastas. The pasta I had--prima vera--wasn't on the online menu and was the worst restaurant dish I can ever recall. Totally tasteless and almost no vegetables. Shocking. I assure you I'll never go back. the service was only o.k. Importantly, the server did not notice that I left virtually my entire dish uneaten."

Nestled within the trees of a small side street give the illusion you are not even in a big city. The wine list was top notch and the food was delicious! Everything from special regionally inspired appetizers to homemade desserts made fresh by the owner's wife make this jewel a top priority for any Atlanta eating list. Try the eggplant lasagna for starters. It was wonderful! Enjoy."

  • "Overall great experience. Ordered the Garganelli pasta and it was deliciouis. Slightly spicy tomato-based sauce and very tasty. Among our group of 8, we shared appetizers such as the proscuitto-wrapped figs and salumi platter and both were very good. Everyone else's dinner was good from what I heard. Nice wine menu. We drank a Barolo and a Napa red - very nice. Other desserts looked better than my tiramisu, but it was acceptable, just not commensurate with the rest of the meal."

We ate at Portofino on Mother's Day Evening with a group of 8 and it was a truly wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is charming, the service was attentive, the wine and cocktails were luscious, and most important of all the food was delicious and plentiful. Thanks for an outstanding birthday/Mother's Day dining experience."

The neighborhood setting, food quality, preparation, plating, and menu, are as consistently high as any restaurant in town. The menu balances seasonal, favorites, appetizers, pastas, fish, and meats that makes it feel like your first visit. It NEVER disappoints. The service is well trained and the staff know the menu and solid wine list, and provide credible recommendations. The front of the house is equally professional. They always have your reservation, your table, and seat you immediately in every visit whether it be lunch or dinner. They are pleasant, professional, and quietly efficient. All restaurants should be this well run. "

  • "I've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The service aims to please, the wine list is wonderful (tried a great super tuscan this time), and the food rarely disappoints. Since I am observing Passover and didn't order any bread, pasta, legumes, I enjoyed the trout and tomato bisque. They scraped off the grahm cracker crust so I could have the lemoncello cheese cake which was awesome!"
