  • "They put us in a portion of the restaurant of to the side next to a loud group of woman celebrating a birthday.We were so close to this table of woman we were nearly part of their loud drunken party.I was expecting a nice night out with some friends and ended up having dinner in a loud party. Even the waiter was upset with our situation. Food and talking very loud over others was a best description of the night. If you go there make sure the table is your chose not the chose of the young rather clueless hostesses. So I guess in my experience this is a good place for a loud party but not for a relaxing meal with old friends. Its too bad because the food was rather good. Not sure if I will return."

  • "We had my daughters 27th birthday dinner here. My husband and I have been a few times, and always enjoyed it. We brought my in-laws and they loved it. The beet salad was delicious. Some had the halibut and said was so tasty. My daughter orders gnocchi where ever she goes, and said this was one of the best! The lobster ravioli was excellent. All the portions are just right. We all agreed it was a wonderful dinner!"

  • "We've been here plenty of times, and always have a great meal....except this time. We enjoyed our appetizers of calamari and a baby spinach salad and were waiting for a tuna tartar for one of our other guests. I had to ask the waitress where it was. Apparently, she forgot it. By the time we were done with ours, his came out. I decided to order the Porchetta off of the specials menu. It was so fatty, it was inedible, and the outside layer of pancetta was so hard that I literally could not cut it with my knife. It was as hard as plastic and was quite possibly the worst thing I've ever been served. I did eat the brussel sprouts that came with it, they were delicious. My other guests each enjoyed their meals of gnocci, tortelloni and halibut."

  • "I had the skirt steak special, which was great and my friend had the veal Milanese which was good. We also had the arugula salad (enough for 2 and excellent) and the calamari appetizer, both excellent. For dessert, she had the tiramisu (ok) and I had the creme brulee (good). The total bill was $198 (which included two wines each and an after dinner drink). Service was excellent."

  • "I loved the atmosphere! The restaurant's interior is stunning. It's comfortable, quiet, and great for a date or large groups. The menu offers unique variety. There's plenty to choose from! I enjoyed the fresh mozzarella as well as the fresh gnocchi. For dessert, the tiramisu with fresh cream was delightful."

  • "Service was very good from the valet greeting, the hostess being very accommodating even gave a choice of tables & Erik our waiter was not only very pleasant, but very knowledgeable as well. Although we saw a manager quite often going to a particular table, he never stopped for a second to see how everything was. The bus staff definitely needs more training, I shouldn't have to keep asking for more water. Our dinner was disappointing; I can't say bad but it was just tasteless. Plates look great & when I don't see salt & pepper on the table I expect much more flavor on the dishes. It was pricey, but you know that going in. I liked the variety on the wine list, but descriptions would be helpful for the average wine person."

The manager did everything he could to find us a better table within a short period of time, even though the restaurant was very crowded. This type of service brings you back again and again. Our food, as always was very good. We especially liked the tuna (done perfectly) and the swordfish (a special)"

  • "This was our second time here, and it was just as good as our first experience (which is why we came back). The service was terrific, as were the drinks and food. I started with an espresso martini, which was made exactly how I like it. We shared the Thai Calamari, which was very tender, and just sweet & spicy enough! And a baby spinach salad, which was fantastic. I had a dish from the special menu, of scallops which were cooked perfectly and served over white beans. My boyfriend had the lobster ravioli, which had big, delicious pieces of lobster in it! We skipped dessert, as we ate every bite of our meal and were happily full. We loved it, will be coming back here for sure."

  • "Porto Vivo is doing exciting things with food. Everything was delicious: the fresh buffalo mozzarella, the steaks, the creative nutella and banana panini dessert. This is a special occasion/food-lovers' place. The decor is stylish yet you feel at home. The drawbacks: it is overpriced (think NYC prices and smaller portions); the wine list is limited; and it is VERY loud. Even in the smaller upstairs rm, I had to shout. As an extra nod, the bar is cozy yet hip - although still overpriced (draft beer n glass of white,$17). Some will like the bar band yet others may find live rock out of place for the weekend dinner scene at a place which flirts w/finer dining. On the whole, it was a very good time and I would return for a special occasion."

  • "Porto Vivo is in a really cool building...what used to be an antique gallery. Service was exceptional. That's where it ends...in my opinion. My wife and I started with the crispy veal wonton appetizer...which was totally forgettable. We shared the cavatelli bolognese entrée...which was tasty, but lacking "bolognese" (meaning beef) and rather expensive at $26. I ordered veal milanese and the veal was deep fried...which was way too heavy. My wife had the branzino & braciole rabe that she said was just "OK." Apple cobbler dessert was very good. So...overall...not a "bad" experience...just not very good. Wouldn't go there again."

Cyrus remembered us from a precious visit and made our 7 year old daughter feel like a princess instead of an outcast like most other places. The live band started banging on pots and pans in the bar area near the end of our meal which was a total turnoff and we will have to check in advance before going back."

  • "Food was just OK. 2 of us ordered the Flat Iron special, which was drenched in a cheese sauce and sliced, way too rich. In addition, the chef got his temperature accurate for Medium Well, BUT mine was ordered Medium and came out Rare except for the end pieces. The i-pad menus were unnecessary. Also, no need for a separate specials menu - just verbal that to us. Service was attentive. However, the food did not meet our expectations."

  • "We were very disappointed in this resturant. I ordered the angry shrimp thinking it was a dinner when it came to the table it had 2 shrimp.! Needless to say I asked the waiter was this an appetizer and he said some women like little dishes. So then I said ok I'll have dessert . I ordered the apple and pear cobbler it wasn't even cooked. The apple and pears were hard . The ice cream was good. We won't be going back here"

  • "We were a little disappointed. saw the restaurant offered a restaurant week menu, made a reservation thru open table, got there and they stopped offering the menu at 6:30. Food was phenomenal. we felt rushed from the moment we got there. We ate 4 yummy courses and were out by 8pm. when the check came, the price were 1 or 2$ higher on a few items than published in their cute ipad. i was surprised. I didnt want to make a stink, but i was surprised."

  • "Our reservation was available on time, without a wait. We decided to first have a drink at the bar.Cocktails were expensive.Our dinner service was very attentive with a very knowlegeable waiter. The food and presentation was equal to that of a fine NYC restaurant. The only negative was the noise level, which made normal conversation difficult.,especially when the "Live Band" appeared in the lounge area."

  • "On Saturday night we went out with another couple whom we dine out with multiple times a week to try Porto Vivo. To sum it up, great decor, beautiful inside, way too loud with a live band featured on a Saturday night where we had to scream across the table to each other to talk, I'm called Mr Electronic but yet I hate the iPad menus, i don't want to go back and forth back and forth to find what i want to order, service was poor and food was both expensive and mediocre. The waiter saw that my friends wife's Clams and Pasta was mostly untouched and asked about it and she told him it was inedible, tasted like old Pasta water and he said "Oh, Sorry" and took it away. We weren't looking for a freebie but this should've been taken off the check."

  • "I have eaten here a few times. The first time it was really good, the next few times not so great. We had a fabulous waitress one time I forget her name. I was just their Thursday night and I was not impressed. Our water was OK, he could have been better. I had the Porto Vivo salad and it was not tasty. I also had a 1/2 size pasta dish gnocchi and It was just ok. I would have to think twice about going back. I might try the bar on a Thursday night. They have good bands."

We had the bone in rib eye for 2 which was cooked to perfection. Others in our group had the halibut & also the braised short rib wrapped in manicotti both were wonderful!"

If you are a masochist this is the restaurant for you-if you prefer to be treated well while spending $$$$ then find another restaurant in Huntington-there are so many that believe service is as important as delicious food. Porto Vivo is dead to me!"
