Great food! (Kung Pao Calamari is an amazing taste!) Great view! We did have a glass of orange juice spilled on us, but it was promptly made right by both our waiter and the manager. Accidents happen, not shaving a star (or stars) off for that. I have been here a few other times, and this place consistently serves inspired food and has a very competent staff. Highly recommended for those visiting or new to Portland, as it features the best view in town.

This was our first time to Portland City Grill and it was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service. Must come back at night for the view and try dinner. The brunch was great, best crab legs ever, and a fine selection of goodies to chose from. This would be a great place for our family reunion to have dinner or brunch.

It is the happening place. You need to make an advanced reservation to this restaurant to provide a panoramic view of the willamette river and Portland. It is always busy and the bar is always packed. It is therefore always noisy. For some reason, I used to remember the food being better but in this last visit it was just ok. Despite that, if you ask me if I will go there again. The answer will be yes.

I reserved a table for me and my girlfriend,it was her first time to Portland,I had been to the Portland city grill before and remembered the amazing views. We got to the restaurant early and waited till 4 pm for them to open I had not remembered that they open at 4 pm. Would be nice if they had someone from the restaurant to greet you ,my reservation was at 4 which would have been fine except we had to wait in line for the elevator to the restaurant we didn't get seated till 4:25,not sure if calling in reservations made a difference. One thing I will say is the food and service was great,my girlfriend was very impressed with the views and me this will always be one of those things you just have to do in Portland.

The lobby had massive construction going on that I was unawear of when we got there. When we got to Portland City Grill our table was ready for us (requested a window seat, reservations made back in Augest) not a window seat available for 45 min. But they had a table. Server was fantastic! He was spunky and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The chowder was fantastic! The steak was not up to par. I tried cutting the steak and was unable to cut, I asked for another knife thinking that would fix the problem but no. So I had to send back and at that point when im not able to eat it I did not want anything else. I decided to cut my losses. The server was great about it and credited our bill.

Service was great, drink were average, enviroment was also great but, my steak was so fatty, salmon that was ordered was okay (way to rich) but overall I will go back in hopes you could provide a better dinner service. Was my first real date with such a wonderful woman but, luckily she was there for me and the rest was average. I hope someone reads this and can assist in a better visit. Might have to choose and better spot but, have also been intrigued by the popularity of such a place. Great view after waiting 40minutes.

We used to frequent Portland City Grill often a few years ago. We haven't been there for awhile until recently because we received a gift card. We were surprised by the poor quality of the food. The calamari was either fried batter with no meat in it or huge, chewy pieces of squid with no flavor. The shaved beet and arugula salad was horrible. We shared a salad and they were kind enough to split in on plates for us but the shaved beets were a huge blob stuck together and the flavor in the dressing was "off". I could only take two bites and then asked the waiter to take it away. Scallops were very undercooked. Cauliflower was dry and had no taste. The only saving grace was we had a great waiter who didn't hover and was very friendly.

The place is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. We went there on a Friday night for our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. Service was excellent. They have a nice wine list, we had a bottle of a yummy Argentinian Malbec. I loved their version of Caesar salad, it was very tasty. We were not amazed with the meat though. We had a top sirloin and a New York strip, which had an ok flavor, but were tougher than what we're used to. When I told the manager that the steak was a bit tough, he looked at me as if I was asking for a discount, and offered me to cook a softer cut, which I refused since I was already full. This was not my first NY strip, and it was tough! They treated us to dessert: Apple cobbler. Simply delicious.

I travel to Portland at least once a year and with my usual four night stay, I eat at the PCG (Portland City Grill) three of those four nights! Great food, great service, great wine and a superb view. The PCG is located on the 30th floor of the tallest? building in downtown Portland. I love the special calamari, the steaks, and the fresh fish. I did the chipino on Saturday for the first time and it was very good too. I like Chris, Ray and Danielle but all the waiters are great. The manager, Tyler, did his walk-a-round to make sure all is well. I love this place! You will not be disappointed. Doc

Ate here twice during our 4 day visit. Food was so great the first time I immediately made a reservation for the following night! First visit we did not have reservations but we're able to get a table in the bar. Same menu and same view. Second night had a comfortable, cozy booth which was quieter. We had four different entrees between us and can tell you that each one was superb. I definitely recommend eating here and be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

Pedestrian food. We're still pining away for the Sunday brunch at the defunct London Grill at the Benson Hotel. The service at Portland City Grill was good and the view is fabulous but the food appears to be an afterthought. It was edible, just nothing notable about it. We wished for a nice crusty French bread in the midst of many sweet bread options. The soft cheese had surprisingly little flavor. The melon was crunchy. It appeared there was no one monitoring the food line for empty condiment dishes. The mimosas were a bright spot with a choice of three varied, interesting flavors in addition to the standard orange juice.

I didn't give this restaurant more than 3 stars for food because my risotto had a slight burnt taste to it. We were having a very special occasion with family and friends visiting from England, and I didn't want to ruin the evening by sending food back. The slightly burnt flavor also permeated the scallops that were also in the dish. I was hoping this would be the best risotto ever, but someone in the kitchen obviously didn't taste it. Generally, the hustle and bustle of the restaurant was lively, but the noise level was way too high. Really great lemon-drop martini with a ginger-sugar coated rim. The rest of my party enjoyed their steaks.

We made the reservation on Open Table not knowing anything about this place since we were in town visiting. We had our 11 month old daughter with us and were not dressed up at all. We showed up and the hostess greeted us kindly and didn't seem bothered by our baby or the fact I was wearing sweatpants. We asked our server for the "fast" experience since we had a ticking time bomb with an over tired baby and he completely understood. He brought her some steamed veggies before our meal for her to enjoy. Our meal came out as expected time wise and was beyond delicious. I have nothing bad to say about this place as we had a wonderful experience.
