Took my new fiancee here after a nice dinner elsewhere. We shared an appetizer and drinks. After ordering a wine my the water told my host she should consider a more expensive wine, felt very much like a sales pitch. The sashimi plate we shared was pretty tasty but not exceptional. I recommend this spot for the view and maybe drinks but there are definitely better spots to get dinner.

Beautiful view of the city and the river. A little dark in the restaurant, but obviously needed to enjoy the view at night. The food and service were excellent. I had the fresh halibut with risotto and it was to die for. The grilled beet salad was also delicious. I will come here anytime I'm in Portland.

We visited the Portland City Grill for a second time on Saturday, November 15, 2014, and wondered if the service, food and ambiance would be as great for our second visit as it was for our first. We were delighted on all fronts. Chris was our waiter and also a helpful sommelier. The restaurant was full, but we were not rushed nor was our service delayed. Food was delightful (filet mignon, sashimi yellowfin tuna), and service was attentive without being over-bearing. Upon learning that we were celebrating a birthday, a lovely chocolate mousse arrived with a birthday candle at the end of our meal. A perfect finish to a lovely evening. We'll be back!

I only wanted dessert because I wasn't as hungry as my dining companion. The waiter took ten minutes to bring me a dessert menu and then utterly vanished for a half hour, I eventually gave my order to a polite busboy who was refilling my water. The waiter made an appearance five minutes later and without a hint of an apology, informed me that my torte was on its way. Of course I already knew this because the busboy who wasn't earning $100 per hour in tips had already done the waiter's job. The shoddy level of service we received would not be acceptable at Denny's.

This restaurant was really great. The view was speculator and the staff friendly and attentive. The price is a little spendy. (I wouldn't expect to get out with less than $75 per person, unless you abstain from drinking) I would go there again for a special occasion.

This is a great place to meet up with visitors staying downtown but also when you are attending a nearby event and want to be able to walk around after dinner. You'll get a 2 & half hour parking validation and there are a fistful of venus only a few years away from the garage. We recently enjoyed dinner & drinks and proceeded to walk across Burnside to the Roseland Theater for a 3 hour concert without having to deal with the stress of hunting down parking nearby.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. We arrived early and enjoyed drinks and an appetizer in the piano bar. The piano man is great! When we got to our table we found it decorated and a card for us! The views are amazing, best spot in Portland! The whole evening was very special. The food is amazing and the service is great! At the end they brought us a special dessert to share. Couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy our special night.

Yes the scenery is good (30th floor) but the food is fair at best. This was my second time there. The first time, I had the same experience fair food and service. So I chalked it up to be a bad night for them. Went again this week, it was the same if not a little worse. Service was slow and the food again, fair at best. You can get a much more pleasant dining experience for half the price with superior food at numerous places within 1 mile of there.

The restaurant was very nice. The Sunday evening we came was quiet and romantic. The Kung Pao Calimari was amazing. Was very disappointed in the top sirloin though. It's a little upsetting that it's called Portland City Grill, but the steaks are cooked on a griddle. No "grilled flavor" at all. The steak was also very much over cooked to the point of being tough and almost burnt. The wine and beer list was great. Our server was very knowledgeable with the menu and informative. I will return again but will most likely not order a steak. The Calimari definitely saved the day. Not trying to rant just giving my opinion. Look forward to giving the deserts a try. Thanks

We've tried 4 times now to get a window seat at this place, and twice on our anniversary. Each time we arrive, there are window tables open but we're told they're "reserved" even though they claim they don't reserve window tables. Even if a window table opens up, the wait staff makes up an excuse as to why they can't move you. Meanwhile, last Friday an elderly couple was seated in our area wearing so much perfume and cologne that we and several other parties started gagging, lost our appetites and lodged complaints. We told them hostess about this and she was totally flippant. But the clincher was dessert. The cast iron apple cobbler was served to us burnt, tasting like a campfire. Sadly, this will be our last visit.

I had been to the Portland City Grill before and was expecting another great experience. This visit was not a great as previous. I ordered the sole as I have some diet issues. It was tough and over cooked which created some disappointment in my experience. My wife ordered the scallops with rissoto. She said they were excellant. Prior entrees were always steak.

Took out of town guests to dinner here. Everyone's meals were great. We ordered the calamari appetizer-very tasty and could have served six! Steaks were cooked perfectly, and the seafood was very fresh. But nothing beats the view! Got to our window table at dusk to our friends could see the city In daylight as well as nighttime lights. Izzy, our waiter was very attentive and had a good sense of humor. Recommend for anyone looking for a great meal and ambiance.
