What a wonderful evening!! The food was so delicious. There were 4 in our party, so we ordered a lot off the menu to share. We tried a few kinds of sushi, and they were all delicious. The seafood stew was amazing! The gorgonzola, apple, and candied hazelnut salad was light and yummy. The crab cakes were killer. We also tried one entree - the porkchop. It was perfect! There was not one thing I would complain about. The drinks were also very good. We especially enjoyed the coconut keylime martini. The service was wonderful, and the view was stellar! We watched the sun go down, and it really couldn't have been a more beautiful night.

They went the extra mile to make my wife and I feel special for our anniversary. The food was amazing, and the views from the 30th floor covered the entire city. The staff are very professional and helpful, they always appeared at just the right time to help with anything and to ask if we needed refills. I am recommending the Portland City Grill to all my friends, both here in Oregon and across the USA. If you are in the Portland area, you have to make Portland City Grill one of your stops before you leave the city. If you are here over the weekend, make your reservation for the sunday brunch, you won't be disappointed.

Disappointed that the dress code isn't enforced and when asked I was told oh we will never turn anyone away...unfortunate! My husband and I went for a date night away from our baby and the entire time there was a family right next to us with a screaming baby. Again disappointing that no one said anything and the parents were no aware of the fact that they were ruining others dining experience.... The food was as always amazing. Our server was too busy and forgot to bring out our salad so we were bombarded with it in the middle of our meal. We also waited for our meal for over an hour, unfortunately we watched two other tables receive their food when we ordered before they even were seated. We won't be returning for awhile.

We have been enjoying our visits to the Portland City Grill for 10 years or more, we have never had a bad experience. The food is always excellent, the service is top notch and the ambiance is unbeatable. We have tried other restaurants from time to time, but we always end up back at the PDX City Grill, they have everything you could ask for.

PCG lives up to its reputation, fine dining and great views. High above the city over looking the lights of Portland, the window seats are a premium. Get to the restaurant early, request a window table and wait in the bar until one is available - it is worth the wait.

We were in Portland for a day trip and chose to dine at the Portland City Grill for lunch largely because the restaurant has a panorama view of the city. The restaurant was not busy at all at 1pm. Despite many empty tables by the window, we were set to one next to the kitchen. My husband had the steelhead which was delicious, I selected the Oregon Sole partially because it said on the menu that it would be "Accompanied with a unique dessert selection". It turned out that this unique dessert selection was two tiny cookies...! I think a good dining experience depends heavily on how you are treated. Perhaps the service staff put all their energies into the dinner serving, they look sleepy and were unwelcoming at lunchtime.

Entrees with a great presentation makes one really want to come to this restaurant. After the presentation, of course, comes the great taste of very a very well prepared entrée. And the view from the 30th floor is fantastic around all sides of the dining room floor. Great service from staff. Currently, they have $5 wines for lunch too.

Been to the City Grill before and enjoyed the food. This time the menu preparations were not very inviting.one of us had the fish (Halibut )which was very fresh and cooked perfect but a cauliflower purée sauce just didn't entice one's taste buds. I chose the rack of Lamb which had some sort of a fennel glaze.. The lamb was cooked perfectly however there was not a hint of the fennel glaze. The potatoes were over salted as is usual in all restaurants. I have not figured out why chefs feel the need to salt things to death. When one is sensitive to salt in makes them uneatable. On the plus side the shrimp tempura came to the table perfectly crisp and not soggy. The meat and fish were cooked perfect but the preparations need improvement

It was not a topical night for the wait staff.... 5 for dinner, 2 - dinners not correctly prepared and the best part of going to PCG is the cookies and ice cream for dessert, and our waitress forgot to order them for us....... even though mistakes were made this is still one of the best restaurants in Portland.

Appetizers were good. Salads not so good (too much going on in the beet salad; red cabbage in a Caeser - really?) steaks were slightly above average quality (El Gauch is better at this price point). Desserts mixed. Would rate 3.5 overall if I could - it's not quite a 4 star place in my mind. Good thing it's 30 stories above Portland...

Great food, great service, and great views of the city of Portland. We have celebrated many milestones here, from my 21st birthday to getting engaged at this restaurant. We are now celebrating our 9 year wedding anniversary and every time we come here for any special occasion the service is always great. They decorated our table for our anniversary and provided free dessert. The food is always amazing. Will continue to celebrate many more occasions at Portland City Grill.

Our reservation was at 4. We arrived a 3:55 and were told we had to wait until 4 to be seated. When 4 arrived and we were seated the entire dining room was practically empty. We have never had to wait before and will not do it again - it was ridiculous. When our waiter told us the specials we thanked him. We then heard 2 different waiters each vocalize different specials (so, 3 different specials). What's the deal with that? We love PCG and have always had fabulous service. This time, however, has left us wondering if we were in the twilight zone.

Portland is a "foodie" city which to me means experimental. After researching the restaurants in the area I decided to go with a more standard menu and a wonderful view. PCG did not disappoint and was one of our Portland highlights. The bar scene is vibrant but the separate dining room is calm and relatively quiet. Our meals were excellent and the service is top notch. Highly recommended unless you want chocolate dipped goose liver - for that you will have to go somewhere else.

Dinner at Portland City Grill was outstanding, as the food was delicious and the service was most attentive. The incredible city view from this 30th floor restaurant is awesome, and one can see much of Portland as well as the mountain range to the east. The reasonably priced happy hour was a terrific way to proceed our dinner. My party enjoyed the fillet mignon, rack of lamb, beef short-ribs, fresh fish as well as numerous delicious deserts. Portland City Grill was the highlight dinner of our week in the city.

We advised that we were celebrating a special occasion when the reservation was made. We were seated in a booth at the back of the room. The window tables were all full, but we would have waited in the bar for one had we been given the opportunity. The room was quite noisy, perhaps because of our table location. The food was only just o.k. The stacked salad (their version of a wedge) had a good dressing, but way too much of it. The scallop dish was tasty, but small considering the price. The salmon was overpowered by the spices used. On the plus side , a complimentary small piece of cake was served. Our server was very nice and efficient. We'll probably just go for a drink next time and hope for a view from the bar.

Portland City Grill has been a delicous Highlight at the Last Night of our 3 weeks Trip though Pacific NW. We are traveling from Germany and Followed the recommendation of a friend. The Atmosphere was very relaxed and the view fantastic! We chose the filet mignon and it came out perfectly with fresh veggies. Service was polite and happy to answer all our questions about the English menue. Only the Espresso was not good. The waiter explained it was coming from a Pot and Took it of the bill. Restaurant really recommendable. Reservation necessary also on Monday nights. Ask for table with Nice view!

Went for anniversary. Wrote that in my opentable reservation and requested window seat. Got there and the table had a great view and had little happy anniversary confetti and a card signed by the chef. Simple but very much appreciated. Great food, great drinks and generous appetizers. Szechuan calamari very worth the money. Otherwise, price is on par with the food and the view. Also looked like they had a nice bar area with piano which would be great for some upscale drinks. Will have to come back.

Portland City Grill has some great food and great service; unfortunately I don't think the lighting helped the ambience of the restaurant. I know they keep the lights dim to give it a romantic feel but it was a little too dark . I had made reservations and requested a window seat and they advised that it was not possible. Also for the amount of food it seemed a little over priced. I would still go back though.....

We go to City Grill a couple times a year for dinner. The menu is ok,steakhouse fare mostly, definitely overpriced (think El Goucho/Ruth's Chris). I think a lot of people splurge for special occasions or take people from out of town for the views. $45 for a fishy piece of Halibut seemed a bit over the top. We find it smarter to take out of town friends for a happy hour and then have reservations somewhere else. Dinner with wine can easily top $100/person plus tip for ok food. The service can be spotty, sometimes great and sometimes very slow as was the case this time. Let's just say it was a 3 hour and 20 minute dining experience. We also noticed two different times at tables there was breakage by people clearing glasses.

Best view in Portland, service beyond expectations, unbelievably delicious food. We're "regulars" to the "old Portland" standards (restaurants) and had forgotten about this gem so we were surprised at the quality. There was a time about 8 or 9 years ago when we were regulars here. All out of town guests were brought, even rented a private room for gatherings. Over time, things just haven't been kept up. The view is excellent as is the service, but rust rings in the sink, bathrooms are dirty in a dingy way, food seems under seasoned. Getting rid of the sushi chef is a bummer, cocktails from the bar were ok. I had the short ribs, husband had a filet. Both meals were acceptable, but not wonderful. Unfortunately Portland City Grill is no longer an exceptional place to go, it's now just an expensive chain restaurant with a good view...

Beautiful scenery as we peered over Portland from 30 stories high. The service was outstanding as our waiter was attentive and never hurried. The fish was terrific starting with a simple crab and shrimp cocktail and then moving to a delicious salmon that was perfected cooked with a very tasty rub. All excellent.
