Portland City GrillSpecial AniversaryI can not think of a time over the last 38 years of marriage that we had a more wonderful anniversary dinner. The Salmon was perfect. The mushroom risotto was out of this world. The coconut cream pie and creme brulee were superb. My onl recommendation would be to try Portland City Grill for lunch. You be glad you did.

The food and service was excellent. Many tempting appetizers and entrees.
Calimari was great, as recommended.
All 5 members of our party enjoyed their entree ranging from steak to seafood.
The cioppino was excellent.
We had no room for desert.
The wine list for a restaurant of this calibre was mediocre. The dinner set the tone and the mood for the rest of the night. We had a great view and excellent service. The food was magnificent! We felt like royalty that night, which came true when we became Prom King and Queen, but it wouldn't have been possible without the city grill giving us a world class meal. Good views and ambience, excellent service from the server, poor service from the waiter. Had to ask for refill on adult beverages, no check to insure that meal was satisfactory, poor attention to the table. Josh the server was a joy. He was personable, helpful and concerned about our well being. Recommended the manager that he should offer his server a job as a waiter and release the waiter that was supposed to be responsible for our table. Our table was decorated with tiny hearts and words that said "Happy Anniversary" along with a card that said "thank you for celebrating with us" with signatures from a few staff members. It was a nice touch. The view from our table was awesome. We were able to see the river and a bit of Mount Hood. The service was excellent. The dinner was a bit overpriced, but was still very good. For dessert, we were able to get a small chocolate cake for free because it was our anniversary and it tasted delicious! Its stunning city views have the tourists wandering around the perimeter to take photos, while knowing locals seem to concentrate on the buzz in the large bar area. But the real draw is (or should be) the food. As a test, I tried an approach I almost never use - a combination of seafood (fresh, wild king salmon) and steak (top sirloin). The kitchen knows how to treat both, tenderly and with attention to what you specify. The sides were deftly seasoned.
