  • "I was impressed with the attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. They attended but they didn't hover, great balance. The wine selection was superb. The servers and the wonderful Somm delighted in making sure we selected a wine that would no disappoint. I took a friend to celebrate her birthday and thank goodness, no singing!"

  • "Great for a special occasion. Food never disappoints. Excellent service."

  • "The food and service were outstanding. The steaks were cooked to perfection as ordered and tasted wonderful. Prices are at the upper end for a steak house but this was expected. I was surprised at the number of people who brought younger children in with them. I don't know if they have a children's menu but I didn't see anything listed. I highly recommend Porters for a fine dining experience."

  • "Excellent evening....wine list is well over priced! However enjoyed a delightful evening..."

  • "Denise was our waitress and she did an awesome job making sure our experience was excellent. She included her personal favorites and opinion on the menu items which was most helpful in making our choices. She also suggested a wine and helped us pick out something that we enjoyed and made our evening perfect. The calamari was very good, as was my husbands pepperloin, however my meal was lukewarm at best. I ordered the 8 oz pepperloin and he the 14 oz. There was a very different taste between the two."

  • "The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Jeff the wine guy and my server Chris were a duo that will be difficult to surpass. They set the standard very high. The menu is pricey but it's worth the journey. You will not be disappointed in the food - everything from the appetizers to the steak and carrot cake were wonderful. I'd recommend this to everyone to try!"

  • "This was one of the BEST meals I have ever eaten. The wine list was extensive and the staff were very helpful in selecting the perfect wine. The steak was beyond compare. Cooked perfectly and the taste was amazing. It was so tender and juicy. We finished the meal with cream brule. Another amazing choice. Perfect meal in every way."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant. It has it all! The Pepperloin is out of this world as is everything about Porter's."

  • "Porter's turned out to be a great place to celebrate our 38th anniversary. We were warmly greeted with champagne followed by a wonderful dinner. Jeff, the Sommelier, recommended an awesome bottle of wine. All in all ... we had a great experience."

  • "Attended a group luncheon in the private dining room and have to say the food was very good. Four of us had a steak sandwich and it was tender, juicy and quite flavorful. The other three had the club, not only was it gigantic but tasty as well. I was so pleased with my lunch that the following weekend had dinner there and that was a different experience. Steak was lukewarm and not flavorful at all. The tenderloin was sliced into three pieces and in between the two there was a piece of meat that had criss-cross grill marks, much thinner than the other two pieces and had no taste at all. The other pieces of meat were ok at best. Had a similar experience about a year ago and had not been back. I will come back for lunch but maybe not dinner."

  • "My fiance and I came to Porter's on our two year anniversary. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant, and something tells me we'll be spoiling ourselves here annually."

  • "My wife and I wanted a good bone in rib bye and we were not sure where to go to in the area. Living here my whole life, i plugged into open table and found Porters, i hadn't been there since high school. We made a reservation and took off. Great atmosphere, great wine and the steak was off the charts, phenomenal. we actually had enough room for the desert and it was the exclamation point!"

  • "We had drinks in bar, then dinner in restaurant. Only complaint, too tight for group of men... we grabbed an additional chair from another table... (booth/chairs).. should have been all chairs, I suppose."

  • "Porter's is one of the places we go for special occasions. The food and service is always wonderful. My husband is very much a steak person, and Porter's is noted for their great steaks."

  • "It was a great dinning experience. Food was wonderful, portions a bit small for the price yet very nicely presented and the taste was great. The personnel were superb. Would recommend for special occasions but a little pricey for weekly night out dinners."

  • "The ambience was great, our food was excellent and service was excellent. I would recommend this to friends. This was the first time my guest was there and truely enjoyed it."

  • "Lobster was tough , steak was ok, price was $150.00 (too much )"

  • "Our server, Chris, was very energetic and knowledgeable of the menu as was the wine steward. He didn't talk down to those of us that didn't know anything about wine. The server gave good recommendations and the food was very good in a relaxed atmosphere. Besides questioning the value for the price, my only complaint is that we had to request for our water glasses to be refilled. There were four of us at the table and three of us received the refill. The fourth person had to request (again) a refill. For the price, we expected better service that we can get at other high-end restaurants. A large group of men arrived mid-meal and the noise level increased to a level where normal conversation was difficult, but not the restaurant's fault."

  • "Porter's now has a new chef working in the kitchen. With the new chef comes a few new menu items. Also noted was the new plating presentation. The steaks were fantastic as always, but half of the appetizer was ice cold. Overall the dining experience was very pleasant. Pacing of the meal was perfect, and our server was not intrusive."

  • "Went with 3 couples and all had a wonderful dinner. My rare-plus bone-in ribeye steak was to die for--perfectly cooked and seasoned! Their crab cake appetizer made you think you were in Maryland.on the Chesapeake Bay"

  • "really nice except for "Applebees" trained waitress(still workin on that " is out of place in a restaurant with a sommelier. poorly trained."

  • "With the exception of the guests at the table next to us being a little on the loud side (Their conversation was loud enough I could not hear my wife speak to me.) everything else was fantastic. I had flowers sent to the restaurant and they were on the table when we arrived, it brought tears to my wife's eyes. The food was fantastic. My wife had the 6oz filet and I had the bone in ribeye, both cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth. The service was excellent, the table was kept clear and the drinks were kept full."

  • "My wife and I traveled to Porter's for dinner in an ongoing progressive celebration of our 35th Wedding Anniversary(7/22/1978). Our waiter was very accomodating, polite and provided an excellent wine tasting experience matching up the appropriate wine for each course of our dinner that evening. Overall we had a fabulous time and can't wait to return for another great dining experience."

  • "Second place is way back there folks. In any other part of the St. Louis area Porters would be renowned. Better than Ruth's Chris. Better than Prime 2000. Better than Lowry's."

  • "Extremely disappointed. Last time, we had a 1lb lobster tail that was absolutely wonderful. It almost melted in your mouth. This time we had an 8oz lobster tail and it was tough and luke warm. I also had the lobster bisque. It was topped with cream and cognac. It was horrible. The cream and cognac took away from the flavor of the bisque and there were only two very small pieces of lobster in the whole bowl. For an appetizer we ordered the calamari. It was tough and very greasy. We both had loaded baked potatoes with dinner and they looked like they were from the night before and were not even warm enough to melt the cheese on top.The best thing about the dinner was the 14oz Ribeye steak. It was very good. The wine and bread were also very good."

  • "The restaurant was full but we were seated immediately. Service was outstanding - as always- the steak was a bit over cooked but the waiter made sure that it was quickly replaced. Despite operating at full capacity - our visit was pleasant and the food was good. Our waiter's friendly service was the high point."

  • "My wife and I have been going to Porter's for new years eve the last couple of years with some of our friends. The atmosphere is classy but not stuffy. The food is great and the service is very good too. Porter's is pricey (our New Year's Eve check before tip was $160), but you get what you pay for. Besides, how often do you really NEED a 22-ounce bone-in ribeye with appetizers, desert and a bottle of wine. They also had a nice brunch on New Year's Day (which came included with our hotel room). I would recommend Porter's highly for any special occasion (New Year's Eve, Anniversary, Birthday, etc.)."

  • "This is the 5th time my wife and I have been to Porter's, and we've NEVER had a bad experience. We LOVE this place. The best Filet Mignon around!! Our waitress Lisa, is the best. We always request a table in her section. We already made reservations for Dec. 31st 2014."

  • "Our dining experience at Porter's was outstanding - from service to food to ambience. Cannot say enough good things about this local dining establishment. If you're looking for excellent cuts of beef in the Collinsville area, this is the place to dine. Their pepperloin cuts like butter and tastes wonderful! Salads and other sides are tasty, too."

  • "We decided to go out to eat on Christmas and made reservations. We were seated quickly and the staff was very attentive. We both ordered ribeyes and they were prepared exactly how we like them. The lobster bisque was fair but the overall meal was delicious. I absolutely loved the lobster Mac n cheese. I would recommend Porters to my family and friends and we will return next Christmas."

  • "We are frequent customers because we greatly enjoy the dining experience at Porters. We had a small group most of whom ordered the house special pepper steak - always a real treat! Service was first class as usual and despite being packed , the restaurant was quiet."
