  • "We did not expect the excellent service and high-quality food that we found at this gem attached to a hotel on a busy street full of chain restaurants. Special touches abounded: Every staff member introduced themselves and addressed us by name; a complimentary wine tasting (with no gimmicky sales pitch); beautiful table setting; classy and quiet atmosphere. Similarly, the attention to detail in the food was notable. For example, lightly salted and steamed green beans accompanying the melt-in-your-mouth pepperloin were a welcome change from the usual butter-drenched afterthought sides at other steakhouses. Truly worth a drive to Collinsville."

  • "I ate at Porters back in March 2002, more than 12 years ago, while in town on business. I came with family this year for the 4th of July vacation and I was pleased to see the Porter's still in operation. We had reservations for (8) on July 5th to celebrate a couple birthdays. We had a variety of steaks from the menu (ordered medium) and all were absolutely spectacular. We were seated in the private room (with fresh cut roses on the table) near the entrance where I believe there was once a walk-in humidor. Everything we ordered from the menu was great. They even came around with free deserts for those with the birthdays. The carot cake could feed at least 3 of us and the chocolate cake was dense and moist like a giant brownie."

  • "Six of us (all men) had reservation's for Saturday night at 9pm. Arrived a little early and was seated right away. Two of the guys ordered NY steaks one med rare and the other med. When brought out they were given the wrong steaks. They chose to eat what they were brought because of how late it was and did not want to wait on a new one to be cooked. Also one of the baked potatoes was brought out very cold and had to be redone while another one did not come out as ordered. We were in the private area in the front and at the end of our dinner the bus boys started shoving the large chairs to the front making enough noise it was hard to talk. We felt this was their way of telling us it was time to go. Not happy for the $$."

  • "My husband I couldn't figure out what we wanted for dinner. We were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and his mother suggested Porter's. We had both been before, but it was long ago. So glad we went!! Our waitress, Denise was awesome and the food, PHENOMENAL. Denise suggested the Signature Pepperloin. Neither my husband or I are huge fans of pepper and was afraid it would overpower the steak. Were we wrong!!! The Pepperloin was so tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection! We will be back really soon! Ask for Denise when you go! She knows the menu like the back of her hand! Everything from the appetizer (crab cakes=amazing), salads, and steaks she suggested and based it off of what she learned about us! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "The food and service were outstanding. The steaks were cooked to perfection as ordered and tasted wonderful. Prices are at the upper end for a steak house but this was expected. I was surprised at the number of people who brought younger children in with them. I don't know if they have a children's menu but I didn't see anything listed. I highly recommend Porters for a fine dining experience."

  • "Denise was our waitress and she did an awesome job making sure our experience was excellent. She included her personal favorites and opinion on the menu items which was most helpful in making our choices. She also suggested a wine and helped us pick out something that we enjoyed and made our evening perfect. The calamari was very good, as was my husbands pepperloin, however my meal was lukewarm at best. I ordered the 8 oz pepperloin and he the 14 oz. There was a very different taste between the two."

  • "Attended a group luncheon in the private dining room and have to say the food was very good. Four of us had a steak sandwich and it was tender, juicy and quite flavorful. The other three had the club, not only was it gigantic but tasty as well. I was so pleased with my lunch that the following weekend had dinner there and that was a different experience. Steak was lukewarm and not flavorful at all. The tenderloin was sliced into three pieces and in between the two there was a piece of meat that had criss-cross grill marks, much thinner than the other two pieces and had no taste at all. The other pieces of meat were ok at best. Had a similar experience about a year ago and had not been back. I will come back for lunch but maybe not dinner."

The steaks were fantastic as always, but half of the appetizer was ice cold. Overall the dining experience was very pleasant. Pacing of the meal was perfect, and our server was not intrusive."

  • "Our server, Chris, was very energetic and knowledgeable of the menu as was the wine steward. He didn't talk down to those of us that didn't know anything about wine. The server gave good recommendations and the food was very good in a relaxed atmosphere. Besides questioning the value for the price, my only complaint is that we had to request for our water glasses to be refilled. There were four of us at the table and three of us received the refill. The fourth person had to request (again) a refill. For the price, we expected better service that we can get at other high-end restaurants. A large group of men arrived mid-meal and the noise level increased to a level where normal conversation was difficult, but not the restaurant's fault."

  • "With the exception of the guests at the table next to us being a little on the loud side (Their conversation was loud enough I could not hear my wife speak to me.) everything else was fantastic. I had flowers sent to the restaurant and they were on the table when we arrived, it brought tears to my wife's eyes. The food was fantastic. My wife had the 6oz filet and I had the bone in ribeye, both cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth. The service was excellent, the table was kept clear and the drinks were kept full."
