Porter's Steakhouse at the Sheraton Read House HotelAnniversaryWe visited Porters to celebrate our anniverary. Food was great. I had the salmon with pilaf and asparagus which was terrific. Husband had a steak (I can't remember which one but it was not as done as he would have liked. Easily fixed but he didn't bother. He chose the augratin potatoes which were very good. We had the wine and cheese for two as a first course and really enjoyed the selection of cheese. Service was wonderful. Ambiance was very nice. Tables were seated very spaced out. My only small complaint would be that there's a loud sound everytime the air comes on but I don't fault them for that. It's a historical building. The food array was beautiful and well prepared.
The talented jazz group complemented the event perfectly.
While a lovely experience, overall, there were a few issues for us. Mom is 92 with failing eye sight. Room as too dark, black tablecloths and rugs. Food too far apart. Our table for 3 had unseen legs that forced one of us to straddle awkwardly. Mom was pushed into a set when we adjusted her chair. We had to turn the table.
The MDB was a remarkable package for the price. Thank you for the special day.

Porter's was our first choice. The food is delicious and what a great variety of options to select from. Also, the service was superb. It wasn't too crowded and our waitress allowed us ample time to enjoy our meal and linger for a bit chatting with our friend. The quality of food, drink and service is as good as any place we've dined in the country. It looked wonderful. Instead we ordered from the lunch menu. Everything we had was great. I had the blackened steak salad. The portion size was great and the flavors were excellent. One at our table had the chicken salad croissant and enjoyed it.
