We will be open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & New Year's Eve, New Year's Day. Tucked away in the historical block of downtown San Mateo, inside the "Old Theater" next door to the Benjamin Franklin Hotel, PorterHouse is a brand new destination, offering aged Certified Angus Beef and the… finest chops and seafood. Our Executive Chef has introduced an exciting menu inspired by the theme, "Dining Out with a Budget" - an outstanding 3 Course Pre-Fixe Menu that is available every night. "This was our 2nd visit. We had the same fantastic waiter (Dumond)however we will never go to the Porterhouse on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday because Richard the Head chef is not there on those days and the steaks were overcooked the first time, under cooked the second time, perfect the third time. I wasn't impressed with the lobster tail either; it was a bit overdone as well. Unfortunately it was my husbands birthday and our second experience was not comparable to our first visit. I do want to mention that our table location was very romantic on the second visit and we will go again - just not on a monday night!"

"We have been to Porterhouse many times and will go many more. The food is always excellent and the restaurant is very pretty. The servers are very nice and professional, the only draw back is that the service is a little slow. But it won't stop us from going again and again!!"

"Porterhouse is a tucked away gem. My son, who is extremely picky,absolutely loved this place! The steak, the salmon, the shrimp, the salads, the pork chops were all delicious.
Our favorite part of the dinner was are awesome waiter who gave us a show with the "flambed" dessert! We will definitely return!"

"This was our second visit since the name change. In our party of four, three of us had the price fix menu. The special soup of the day, beef vegetable was very good, as well as the onion soup, wedge and beet salads. Our steaks were excellent, and cooked perfectly; we had New Yorks and a filet. The dessert, was quite good too; we had bread pudding, gelato, and creme brulee. The service, however, was not so good this time. But, we will definitely return ."
