Porter House New YorkWonderful Restaurant!Had dinner one Saturday before a show at Lincoln center. Everything was absolutely divine. We had the sea scallops, beef marrow & toasts, skirt steak and apricot duck steak with honey carrots and truffle mashed potatoes. The flavors were wonderfule and those mash potatoes.... literally disappeard in your mouth only leaving that great truffle flavor. The only down side is that we didn't hav enough time to sample the desserts but I will definitely go back for more thorough experience!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMostly good...Service good, food was quite good except for the NY Strip which was a bit tough. My wife's filet mignon was superb though. Great spinach!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ExperienceI went for Lunch after my daughters High School Graduation. The venue is beautiful, the service superb and the food excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. You can get discounted parking by printing a coupon from the website of central parking. Parking is on site at the TWC.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steaks, great view ifGreat steaks, great view if seated by the window, a little obscure if deep inside the room, correct service. The ribeye was suberb, onion rings could be better. I would return for the porterhouse that was served at the table next to us, it looked amazing.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAs Close to Perfect as PossibleThere is just no downside! Somewhat pricey to be sure....but worth an occasional splurge!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI've dined here several timesI've dined here several times and always get treated royally. the service is impeccable without being intrusive. The special starter of lobster bisque was very flavorful, and full of chunks of lobster. This is obviously a soup that had been several hours in preparation, as the lobster flavor was fully developed. The beef filet mignon with the house made burre maître d' and accompanying broccoli were delicious.
I can't wait to return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMspur of the momentI had a meeting nearby and decided to have an early dinner. We told our server that we had an hour and 15 minutes from start toi finish. For some reason, we did not feel at all rushed. The service was exemplary, the somelier as attentiveand the food, as usual, was outstanding. All in all the perfect choice.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Eating ExperienceFood was superb and prepared as requested. Service and ambiance was outstanding. This was all provided with great value due to the price fixed lunch that was offered.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat New York Steak HouseI was little troubled by some of the reviews that said the food and decor weren't great - however, I'm glad I ignored those because they were absolutely wrong! The decor is very romantic - somewhat woodsy, dark, and with a great view of Columbus Circle. We weren't seated right by the windows, but pretty much every seat has a good view. The service also was great - our waitress was the perfect combination of friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The real take away though was the food. Everything was absolutely wonderful, from the risotto and crab cake appetizers, the sirloins, the asparagus and mashed potatoes, and even the berry souffle we had as dessert. Everything was simply seasoned, so it wasn't too rich, and was just perfect.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA good place to visit4 of us recently had dinner here and all of us were looking forward to having a nice steak. The service is wonderful. It's in the Times Warner building (don't remember what floor but you overlook Columbus Circle).
Our appetizers were great, a selection of meats and cheeses. My filet mignon was superb but my friends had the sirloin steaks and found them chewy and with no great flavor. The sirloins I believe are @ $52.00 each so at that price you expect (and should get) the most tender and mouth-watering steak!
The dessert selection was not exciting so we decided to share a coconut cake and all found it just okay.
I would go back for the setting, the service, and the filet.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMloved the atmosphere and especiallyloved the atmosphere and especially the service, what a fine dining experience should be5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDeclkineThe restaurant is very good, but I got the worst table of the room. Near the place where the waiters organize everything.
All restaurants I made reservation using opentable was the same, allways the worst table.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the better steakhouses in NYThe food is simply amazing... I have been here twice for special occasions and can't wait for a third occasion. Its great for couples or small groups (four to six people). I highly recommend the bone marrow appetizer.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Birthday! We make a point of coming to Porterhouse for special occasions, and always vow to come back for drinks/small bites at the bar or the new Center Bar. Everything was perfect this time, as usual! The staff is always welcoming and attentive. Michael himself is always circling the dining room to make sure that everyone is happy- probably one of the few chefs who are actually on the premises during dinner service! The food was perfect- crab cake app was delicious....cowboy ribeye is the favorite! We re-discovered the wonders of key lime pie....after years of mediocre ones that turned us off it....this one was the perfect balance of tart & sweet! We will certainly be back often!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat deal for lunch, withGreat deal for lunch, with no skimping on portions or service. Only drawback is the rather expensive wine list.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTreat yourself to PorterhiusePorterhouse simply makes the best steak in the city. The menu is diverse and the seafood is also outstanding. The appetizers are great especially the oysters.
The wait staff is very attentive and if your looking for a great bottle of wine you've come to the right place.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMrWe have stopped for lunch on 4 trips to NYC. Each time was excellent so we never consider going anywhere else. The lunch filet mignon is to die for.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best steak house in N.Y.The food was excellent, from the appetizers to the main courses to the side dishes. However, the meal took forever - more like European restaurants - so if you plan for a quick bite that's not the place. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the meat was superb. The wine list was impressive. All and all I went with my family to celebrate my graduation and it was a perfect venue for it.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPorter House New York Top NotchService was professional with special attention to details.
Sunday Afternoon Party of 4, ordered Shrimp Cocktails, New York Strip, Chili Rubbed Steak and 2 Filet Mignon and 3 Different Sides Baked Potato, Spinach and Onion Rings.
All food arrived hot and as ordered.
You must try the key lime pie. A+++++
With all the choices of steak houses in NYC, I would review this establishment a 10 out of 10.
Excellent Service
Excellent Presentation
Excellent Food
Excellent Prices
Would recommend and will visit again5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation LunchThis was the perfect pick for our party of 10 to celebrate after a graduation ceremony at Lincoln Center. We had an assigned waitress who was wonderful. We were there for several hours and not once did it appear as though they wanted us to leave. We had a round table that we could all sit and talk. The noise level was low, so we could actually have a conversation. We were seated in the back so no view of Central Park but it was an overcast and rainy day so we didn't miss it. I especially enjoyed the menu because we had vegetarians and picky eaters. Everyone found something wonderful to eat! It is a little pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. I would do it again in a heartbeat.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best porter house for two everTravelled from Sydney, Australia to taste this delectable treat "the porterhouse to share" that we had seen reviewed on a tv show. Not only did it live up to but exceeded the review. The wine list was comprehensive yet easily understood. The surprise for the night was their sensational sorbet especially the passion fruit.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome all the way around.Awesome all the way around. I love this place and with the 3 course lunch special (served every day) Yes EVERY DAY for an inviting price of $24, it makes it well worth the trip from the outer boroughs and beyond.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMJP Graduation DinnerPorter House is an excellent restaurant for Any Special occasion - for any size party. Food was very good, but everything is VERY expensive. Ambience and Service were excellent. I have dined at the Porter House on numerous occasions - and have never been disappointed.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice place, good menuVery nice place, good menu options, good price fix lunch specials with reasonanable portions5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, wait staffExcellent service, wait staff gave us the perfect amount of time between ordering, food arrival, billing. The Truffle Mashed Yukon gold potatoes were out of this world. Key Lime Pie & the 4 Berry Souffle was deeeeelicious. Our waiter Chris was great. very attentive and informative. gave us fantastic choices when asked. The ambiance was classic and elegant and the entire staff from host to busboy were friendly and inviting.
I have raved to my boss about Porter House NY, and he LOVES a good steak, so we are taking some clients there in a couple of weeks. I am so psyched to go back and try one of the other cuts. :-)5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite around Columbus CircleI love this restaurant. It is my go-to place whenever I have to select a restaurant in the area. The food is very good. The service is always attentive, but just enough. It is quiet. You don't have to shout to make yourself heard. The view over Central Park is spectacular. And the prix fixe lunch is a great bargain. Portions are generous and the food is always good and done just as you request. Highly recommend it.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSolidWe eat at Porterhouse every time we are in town. The food is always reliably delicious. We've tried other steak houses in midtown and they just aren't as good. Everything from drinks to desert are always the best. The service can be a bit spotty, but it has never ruined a meal.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe brought a (well behaved)We brought a (well behaved) seven year old with us and the staff went out of their way to be accommodating and kind.
Our food was excellent. We did not order dessert, but certainly will the next time. The tables are well spaced and the chairs are very comfortable.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMService was slow. My midiumService was slow. My midium rare came in midium but otherwise, it was good.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCorporate AtmosphereEverything about Porter House feels like a corporate board room. The wood toned room with a spectacular view from the windows of Time Warner Center is plush, but not over the top. Tables are generously spaced so conversations are private. The steaks are at the same level, expertly prepared, served by a staff that prides itself on its professionalism. If you're looking for a rollicking good time Porter House may not be the place. But if you are looking for the right place to negotiate that M&A deal you don't want anyone to know about, make a rez at Porter House.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurantall of the food and service was excellent. staff were highly accomodating4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best thing about Porterhouse,The best thing about Porterhouse, which is always a treat, is it's consistency. I go there especially for the lobster, which is de-shelled
and naged to perfection with a touch of fennel. Service is always great and the view looking downtown is sublime!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMtetee'sreviewvery efficient and attentive staff and not at all intrusive, a very warm and inviting atmosphere, tables are well spaced, and every table is totally separate and private, and the food is excellent. It is a lways a joy to dine there. Definitely a special place for a ny occasion.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI rarely do steak houses butI rarely do steak houses but Porter House does a fantastic job--not only the quality of the steak-but perfectly cooked and wonderful appetizers and sides. Our waiter--Tim--was charming and helpful.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPorter House had really greatPorter House had really great service. We felt very well taken care of. My husband asked for a table by the window, and alas, we shown to a table far from the window. He asked the hostess to please put us by the window, that he had called and specially requested a window table, (it was my birthday) was told it would be happening, but no. She said we were in the window section! We had a view of the 4th floor apartment.hotel rooms of the Trump tower. Not that special. SO, there are many steak houses, and BLT Steak is better, same crazy prices. If you can't the view, skip it.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDerick BIt was my brothers birthday, and as two-guys who really love a good burger and a great steak this was the perfect spot. The food was excellent, the staff was attentive and it was an overall good experience.. It's pricey, but worth it because you are paying for value and you get value.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliantLove this place. I'd eat there every day if I could. The lunch deal is the best kept secret of business lunches in New York.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch Special Porter House New YorkThe occasion for the visit to Porter House New York was for our 30th wedding anniversary lunch. We had the lunch special which had lovely choices on the menu. The lobster soup was a delight and both my wife and I had the filet mignon which was absolutely superb. The cheesecake was probably larger than required but was unresistable. The visit was rounded off by fabulous service and a view of Central Park from our table.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty, but not worth the price tagWas disappointed in the "famous" Porterhouse steak. It didn't hold up to the other top steakhouse in NYC. The sirloin was excellent as were all the yummy sides. Excellent service, even though we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant. All in all, very good, but not worth the super high price tag. Others are better for a lot less.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIn my reservation I requestedIn my reservation I requested a table with a view. Instead of a table with a great view we were seated in a back room without a view.Otherwise, everything was what you would expect of one on NYc's best steak houses.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceThe waiter was excellant but the staff to clean up dishes etc...was a little slow and plates stayed in fron of us too long4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWould definitely recommendWould definitely recommend this restaurant. Good food, service and handicap accessible which we needed for someone in a wheelchair. Very accommodati g.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPark View Lunch is great deal. EasPark View Lunch is great deal.
Easy to meet up with frined since lacated 4th floor of the Time Waner Building.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfectAlmost everything was outstanding! Server was professional, knowledgable, and on point. The management team was actively running the restaurant. The support team was also on top of there game. Water never over half empty and i asked them to stop delivering bread. The hostess was rude and unfriendly. As the first and last impression you have of most dining experiences, this should seal the deal upon entering and leaving. I had requested a table by the window and had to ask for the one that was available. When I asked she sighed and reluctantly took us there. Then we were completely ignored upon leaving. A simple thank you would have been great!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
