well as classic Italian favorites. The name 'Portalli' comes from the maternal family of Evan Brown, one of the owners who will also serve as Director of Operations. Local chef Keith Holsey will be running the kitchen, and while the menu is still being developed, we plan on incorporating everything we love about Italian cuisine from all areas of Italy including several traditional Portalli family dishes. Portalli's tries to imitate a traditional Italian dinner by proposing a five course menu starting with an appetizer, through a pasta dish to some meat course. In practice, however, only two or three courses can be achieved by the regular diner as the prices aren't well suited to moving forward on all five, even if the portions are. But the food was delicious and the chairs extremely comfortable. It's a good place to go for an hour or two dinner with friends!

We celebrated our 15th anniversary (partially) over dinner at Potalli's. The ambiance and food was perfect, but the service was exceptional. The waitor was attentive but not annoying, and patient with every question about the menu. He made appropriate recommendations, and when asked to surprise my wife with a fruity but non-alcoholic drink, he and the bar tender were creative, and hit the mark. I highly recommend Potalli's for any intimate occasion.

We had Easter brunch. There was a nice buffet menu, excellent quality items and replenished often. We usually frequesnt Portalli's for dinner and half price bottle of wine at the bar (on Saturday nights!) or for dinner with friends. The Easter brunch menu was different fronm the regular menu, but both were great experiences. There have been several restaurants at this location, and this is the best by far!

We have had dinner at Portalis before and it was fantastic, so when our out of town plans fell through, we decided to try their Easter brunch. The brunch was great, and included (I guess specially for Easter) oysters on the half shell and pork tenderloin. There was also (a regular part of brunch) steamed shrimp, smoked salmon, sausage, made to order omelets, bagels with house-blended herbed and berry cream cheese spreads, cheesecake, baked egg and veggie dishes and lots more. The only minor drawback is that much of the buffet is set up along the bar, which gets a little tight squeezing by the reception podium when there are people coming in and people at the buffet. Brunch is 16.95, $5 more if you want bottomless mimosas or bloody marys.

Four of us went to Portalli's for the Easter brunch last week and really enjoyed it. The buffet had many delicious choices (steamed shrimp, bagels with several toppings, including wonderful salmon lox, egg casseroles, french toast, bacon, sausage, fruits and other desserts to name a few). Bottomless bloody marys and mimosas were optional for a few extra dollars and were very tasty.
We love old buildings, and liked the ambiance very much. We plan to return.

The waitress was nice but extremely slow. I don't understand why when my husband and I were the only ones in the upstairs room. The main entree was average. Being that is an Italian restaurant we were looking forward to dessert-how disappointing. We ordered the Tiramisu and it was awful. I will definitely stick to little Italy if I want good Italian food.

Overall, high quality ingredients, generous portions. His 3- oyster antipasto (just too much garlic), a seafood pasta and lamb entree, were all successful. Seafood was very fresh and the sauce on the pasta was thick but not with heavy cream, which I admired. His lamb shank was tender and lean; not crazy about the potato fingers. I didn't fair as well. They were out of the veal, so I had the special of blackened salmon served on a bed of interesting stuff. Salmon tasted terribly fishy, was slightly overdone. The crab sauce was milky and bland, with no flakes of crab. I loved my spinach salad. The tiny pancetta cubes reappeared with entree, which was tiresome. I didn't like my glass of Pinio and we passed on dessert. $50 per person plus tip.
