Port Land GrilleFantastic! It was an excellent meal and we received very attentive service. The food was creative with a southern twist -- especially the collard and sweet potato sides. This will be on the top of our list whenever we visit Wilmington. This is one of the best restaurants we have been to this year. Don't miss the coconut cake!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best in North CarolinaIt is certainly a pleasure to discover a beach restaurant that not only delivers gourmet takes on fresh seafood but gets everything else right as well. From the beautiful decor to the professional service this is one resort restaurant that doesn't suffer from " if we can just get each tourist once quality doesn't matter" syndrome. I recommend you order salads and small plates to share before moving on to the the artfully prepared entrees. This is southern foodie experimentation at its best and won't disappoint. Also, ask the professional waitstaff to make some recommendations. These folks know their stuff! Port Land Grill is a must stop in Wrightsville Beach!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial touchI used opentable to make the reservation and placed a little note asking if they could do a little something for my parents'anniversary. Our server was welcoming and congratulatory, the table had tasteful confetti, and the overall experience was wonderful. A very nice touch to go along with what we already knew would be a great dining experience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great, but theThe food was great, but the service was really disappointing. The lady acting as hostess (because she was in many of the pictures in the entryway we assumed she may have been an owner) confirmed our reservation and said they were cleaning our table to seat us soon. Meanwhile, couples without reservations were seated ahead of us. I waited a while in case there was something I missed and when I went back to ask how much longer she asked who I was (no one else was waiting). The waiter was frequently distracted and regularly dismissed us in favor of older patrons (assuming he thought they would spend more than us). He brought our bill for signature at the end and said "someone must have thrown it in the trash." It was crumpled and gross.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinner in WrightsvilleMy husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner out celebrating our anniversary at Port Land Grille. A co-worker/friend had recommended it. The food was excellent and very, very fresh. My husband ordered the 14 oz Ribeye and said it was one of the best he's had. He normally orders a Filet at any other restaurant but was impressed with the quality. The bar was overcrowded (which was disappointing for us, but was great if you are looking for a lively scene). The Blue Crab Claw appetizer was delicious and I highly recommend it.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNew favorate place to dinePort Land Grille - where have you been all of my time while in Wilmington? This place has probably THE BEST FOOD and peesentation hands down! This is now our new favorate dining experience. It has everything from steak to fresh seafood, to outside the norm pâtés. Service was perfect; and the place forces you to relax. Reasonable prices, and a refreshing alternative to any chain restaurant (to include Ruth's Chris). Went there for a birthday dinner because of reviews and if you like a somber / not every server clapping at your table, than this is just one of many reasons you NEED to spend your night with Port Land Grille; overall... Perfect!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, stuffy service. The wait staff was a little stand-offish. Perhaps this is part of the ambiance but I expected a little more southern hospitality. Food was amazing! One of our party had food allergies and the waiter was not at all helpful with suggestions. I have never been served fine white wine before without the benefit of the bottle being placed in a chilling bucket!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently amazing foodMy family and I love to visit Port Land Grille, and especially love their creative dishes that never fail to impress. Over the last several times we have visited this restaurant, we have tried different appetizers than just the Farmer's Market salad (my personal favorite salad). Every appetizer was great and had a lot of flavors. Don't be afraid to try new things at this place!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the best restaurantsThis is one of the best restaurants in Wilmington.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! We had the best meal we've ever eaten in Wilmington. I loved the pear and gorgonazola salad and the ahi main course and my husband said the beef tenderloin melted in his mouth. Save room for dessert, because a plate of multiple desserts is the way to go and they are all wonderful, especially the coconut cake, even though I'm rarely a coconut fan. The special touch of anniversary confetti on our table surrounding the elegant single yellow rose to help us celebrate was a thoughtful gesture. The service was impeccable and everything was timed perfectly from the kitchen!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWife's BirthdayWe have come to celebrate all our special occasions at the Port Land Grille. This time is it was our choice for celebrating my wife's birthday. The folks who own it have a way of showing they appreciate your business and the food is always prepared perfectly. When friends visit, we also recommend they have at least one meal there while they are in town. Wilmington is a town full of really good restaurants, but after years of "trying them all" the Port Land Grille stands out as the best in my book.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienveGreat good and even better service. Our server recommended both of our meals and she was right no point. When my friend suggested a well done steak the server changed her mind to MW instead, great call.
It couldn't have been better. Thanks5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDissapointedWe showed up and Portland Grille did not have our reservation for 6 which I had booked weeks prior. Glad that we did not have to wait long for our table. Not sure why open table wasn't linked to Portland's books.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile I live in Washington,While I live in Washington, DC, my friends and I were gathering in the Wilmington area to celebrate the Azalea festival. I made the reservation to celebrate my friend's birthday. At the last moment, we needed to amend out reservation from 5 people to 8 people, and the restaurant was more than accommodating. The service was stellar. But the real star of the night was the food.
From the roasted chicken, to the salmon tartar, to the redneck egg rolls (amazing pulled pork!), to the side of lima beans - everything I tasted was fantastic. All the food was cooked to order and everyone seemed really please with the steak entrees. The only complaint from the table was the the sweet potato mash was too sweet. Amazing Night!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME! We plan to go backAWESOME! We plan to go back this summer while on vacation...We absoutely love this place. My wife has traveled the world and I have been a few places as well and this is truely a dining experience. WE LOVE IT!!!!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant has exceptionalThis restaurant has exceptional food quality with a great atmosphere . We had dinner with some friends and all four meals were prepared to everyone's desire. It was a great evening with the food, wine, and service -all making the experience exceptional3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I returned toMy wife and I returned to PG after several several months of other restaurants and again enjoyed our "dining out" evening. As always, the service is of the highest standard and the atmosphere is inviting.
Just a comment... the service and atmosphere far exceeded the entree I had. The ribeye plate came with hugh portions but was all brown. The meat was brown, the potatoes were brown, and the mushrooms were brown. No vegetables were served and the idea of "presentation" was completely missed.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we tasted was amazing.Everything we tasted was amazing. Our server made sure everything came out with excellent timing as well so the table wasn't crowded with food getting cold.
The service was still fast even though they were slammed for Valentine's Day. I was really impressed.
Once again, the food is the best I have had in Wilmington. It's better than Ruth's Chris and Port City Chop House, both of which I have frequented.
Port Land Grille is perfect for a nice date night or special occasion- I will be returning very soon.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been dining at PortWe've been dining at Port Land Grille for 10 years...........We've never had a bad meal or service. It is always at it's best!!!. We lived in Portland Oregon, very much like a restaurant back home.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect! Our Valentine's Day dinner was our first visit to Port Land Grille. Viewing the website, reviewing the menu and reading the reviews gave us a pretty good idea of what to expect but it turned out that the Port Land Grille exceeded our expectations in every way! The service is exceptional and attentive without being intrusive. The food is top notch all the way. I highly recommend the lobster sliders. My taste buds are still somewhere in coastal Bar Harbor, Maine! Check this restaurant out. I promise you will be glad you did!2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary to rememberThank you for making our anniversary one to remember! I had ordered some roses for my wife to be delivered to the restaurant and have waiting at our table. It was perfect! The confetti you provided was a nice touch. The staff really made my wife and I feel special by wishing us a "happy anniversary" upon arrival and departure. Our waitress was very considerate and attentive to our drinks and anything else we needed. Again, thanks for making our first experience of port land grille a notable and enjoyable one! Would recommend this to anyone looking for a fine dining location in Wilmington!1/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat hidden gemThis was a New Years Eve dining occasion and far from the limited menu, food factory style that so often happens on special event evenings. Our server, Bob, did a great job makeing us feel like we were the only table, the tables were filled, but on a gradual basis leaving the food and service to stay on course without rushing anyone. We loved the food, especially the great salad combinations, the duck entree and the Cocunut cake was to die for. Thanks for making a special evening even better. Probably one of the three best places to dine in Wilmington.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMAn Off Night At Port Land GrilleWe've dined at Port Land Grille many times and the food is always exceptional. In addition, the service has always equalled the food. This was not the case on this night. Incorrect items were delivered to the table, water glasses were left empty, silverware was missing, and the table did not receive the level of attention to which we've become accustomed. The restaurant was not particularly busy so I can't use this as an excuse for the faux pas. I am hopeful that it was a one time occurrence since this restaurant has remained our favorite for many years.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AMWe have usually chosen PortWe have usually chosen Port Land Grille for special occasions due to the rather high priced menu. However, the $20.95 menu items are perfect for everyday dining as well as special occasion dining. The food quality is always great.12/6/2012 12:00:00 AM
