Harcourt, has created globally inspired menus that evolve to reflect the season and locally produced products.   • "I had had lunch here in the winter and wanted to take in the view again in all it's summer glory. I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant has a beautiful location looking out onto Lake Ontario. The service was very good. The hostess was courteous and our waitress was very helpful and gracious. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner - the Waffles and fried chicken and my dining partner had great fish and chips. The batter on the fish (Haddock) was that perfect golden crispy texture. I will definitely be back. Afterwards we drove a few blocks down to the waterfront and had a walk on the boardwalk. I was a wonderful afternoon excursion."

  • "We have been here several times and always enjoyed the experience. Not this time! Asked for a table in the bar area and then waited for 10 minutes while they set up on the PATIO for us. Meanwhile, several tables were prepared and waiting in the bar area. Once seated in the bar, We ordered appetizers. Two had salad, two ordered oysters. The salad eaters were finished before the oysters appeared. Fish and chips, which used to be a specialty, are now quite average. Two ordered seafood carbonara. One had the sundried tomatoes as advertised. The other did not! Then we got a note from Open Table to say that we didn't honour our reservation! The only saving grace was the effort made by our server. She deserves an EXCELLENT rating."

  • "The restaurant was physically appealing and the view was fantastic. Our server was sweet and attentive. The problem was that the hostess wasn't welcoming and made us feel as if we were an inconvenience. Interaction with this hostess, twice, soured our visit. Unfortunately, there were no condiments on the table and the preserves for brunch weren't brought to the table when we asked for them for the toast (the person who pours the water forgot to let the server know). The food was average and my friend found that her scrambled egg portion was very small. Due to the lack of preserves, the server managed to arrange a deduction in the bill which was very kind of her to do so as we didn't request this. We'd return for the view."

  • "Having recently moved back from B.C. to Ontario after a 5-year stay, I was appalled to discover that what would otherwise be a wonderful patio - was spoiled by cigarette smoke. In B.C., smoking is not allowed on a restaurant/bar patio. Anywhere. Ever. Port is a terrific restaurant with great service and exceptional food - - however the drawing card just may be their magnificent patio overlooking frenchman's bay. This type of experience is rare to Ontario, as (unlike the West Coast) the waterfronts of most of the provice (and throughout the Great Lakes) are largely underdeveloped. I can only surmise that because Port essentially has a monopoly in the Durham region due to their patio, they would be best served by butting out completely."

  • "My parents have ate at Port a couple times and told us these great stories about the food, so I came in with high expectations. The restaurant was very nice and the quality appeared to be there. Our meals were fairly good, my husband raved about his Steak Burger but meal didn't meet expectations. The Bacon Mac and Cheese though tasty was very watery. The Kale Chips had great flavour but just a little under done. I will still give Port another chance."

  • "Sunday brunch at Port is always good. Love those $7 Double Caesars or $5 Mimosas! Lots of food choices, including several versions of Eggs Benedict, and Port is now also offering a couple of "specials" in addition to the regular Sunday brunch menu. Service is always excellent and there's a great view of the marinas at Frenchman's Bay. Outdoor or indoor dining is available."

Water glass was spotted and looked dirty at which time our server quickly removed it from the table, and switched it with another glass from an adjacent table. Draft beer choices were limited, one out of stock. Wine list was average. I ordered the Beef Ribs and received Beef strips. The meat was overcooked and had fallen off the bone and lay pilled on top of fries which were now soggy. dinner fell well below expectation. Heres hoping next time there is an improvement or it may be our last time. They have one of the nicest patios in Pickering, too bad it was closed (weather)"

The wine selection was good and the food was excellent and the steaks we ordered were prepared exactly as requested. Our server was pleasant and attentive but not overbearing.   • "Reservation made in advance for 4 at 8:15.. I called ahead to state that I would be 5-10 min late, 5 in the party and we would like to be sat on the patio... I was told "no problem but there might be a wait". I was there at 8:23 and I was told, 20-25 min. No problem since we changed plans. We went to the bar for drink and watched 30 min go by with no acknowledgment. I spoke with the hostess and was told we would be sat at 8:56, tables were being cleared. Nothing for 20min. Then at 9:15 as my guests were asking just to leave at I found the manager told him the situation and magically we were sat in 2 minutes. While the food was quite good, service was OK... the hostess set the negative tone for the entire experience that was never recovered."

  • "We've been going to Port for 5 years and in the early days, loved this place. Everything from the food to the service matched it's special location. We no longer consider this one of our favourite restaurants after having mediocre meals that occasionally were less than mediocre. This visit re-enforced why we don't consider this a gem. The menu is just okay and the prices attach a level of expectation that are not met. Server was outstanding but hampered by the kitchen's readiness -- fish dishes brought to the table before meat dishes, leaving 2 of the 4 of us waiting to start. Not acceptable for a $40 entree."

And the Port more than lived up to our expectations. We couldn't get past the starters menu so we are going to have to go back for more! Thank you for being more than accommodating to our group of 7 woman. Everything ran smoothly and tasted incredible. We will all be back and bringing our loved ones:)"

  • "The food was fantastic! Amazing deep fried brie with strawberries, beer nuts and jalapeno peppers. The main was cooked perfectly. Just enough food so you aren't left hungry but not uncomfortable either. Best meal, atomosphere and staff in Pickering! Large drink menu, something for everyone. The best view in Pickering, Frenchman's Bay. The patio is large and right on the water. The staff, very friendly, knowledgable and very attentive (but not annoyingly so). To think our meal was 2x as much as only 2 burgers and 3 drinks at Jack Astor's is amazing, it was WELL worth the money. I would recommend this spot to everyone. Make sure to make reservations on a weekend though, this is a HOT SPOT!!"

  • "I had a birthday. We live in Pickering and we have enough restaurant around, but i realize that most of them are pretty casual you don't need even dress you up nicely. But i was looking for something fancy but avoid driving to Toronto)))) i found Port. and it's very very impressive!! The design, ambiance, food, live music (it was Thursday evening), cocktails.... OMG.. i like it!!!"

  • "Love the ambience of this place! And the service was super outstanding ... very friendly and helpful. The location and view makes for a pleasant dining experience. The food was ok, nothing to scream about really ... sadly, half our party was vegetarian and there were VERY limited vegetarian choices ... even the fries were cooked with beef tallow! The salmon was not medium cooked as requested and pork chop wasnt really flavourful. BUT, the Calamari, Bruschetta and fried Brie was simply delicious ... just awesome :o) Overall, a wonderful experience."

Also called ahead and was told they can't guarantee a window when you you reserve but if you get there and a window is available, they will accommodate-or so I was told - we got there at 6:30 and there were window tables available - unfortunately they did not follow through and we ended up dining in the bar area. Even though there were tables available, they were obviously being held for someone else. A bit embarrassing for me as we were entertaining another couple and I was responsible for arranging the table. Otherwise great, good food (salmon a bit overdone), good portions, waitress was awesome. Nice view of marina. Good selection of wines."

  • "The location is nice and atmosphere were very nice. The food was not very good and overpriced. Two of us had the fish and chips. Batter was hard, fish was watery and tasteless. It was served on a cutting board, it was hard to eat. The fries are the same you get at New York fries, most were really hard and not edible. The tarter sauce had a lot of vinigar in it. Another person in my party had the cob salad but said although it was fresh, it wasn't a real Cob salad. So for two orders of fish and chips and a salad we paid $60. I ordered the roasted garlic aioli with my meal and when my meal came it wasn't there. After a few minutes the server asked if I received it, I said no, she brought it to me 10 mins later when I was almost done my meal."
